Beloved actor dies during performance of A Christmas Carol

Canada's theatre community is mourning the sudden loss of veteran stage actor Julien Arnold, who collapsed and died on stage during a performance of A Christmas Carol at Edmonton's Citadel Theatre on Sunday. He suffered a medical emergency in front of a shocked audience and was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed. Arnold, a cherished figure in Edmonton's theatre scene, was known for his magnetic performances and decades of contributions to the arts. The Citadel Theatre, where he performed numerous times throughout his career, issued a heartfelt statement: “Julien’s passing is a profound loss to his family, friends, fellow Carol company members, Citadel staff, and the Edmonton community he loved so dearly. His presence brought joy, heart, and depth to every role, and his artistic contributions – and big hugs – will be deeply missed.” Arnold was performing dual roles as Marley and Mr Fezziwig in this season's run of A Christmas Carol, which the theatre has now dedicated to his memory. His stage credits also included playing Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol (2009), The Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz (2009), Cogsworth in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (2010), and Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2012). Friend and audience member Lianna Makuch described Arnold as “a generous and magnetic performer – a true artist deeply cherished by the theatre community he loved so much.” The Theatre Network echoed these sentiments, noting that Arnold’s legacy “will live on through the stories he told, the lives he touched, and the community he inspired. Police finally reveal motive behind murder of campers Russell Hill and Carol Clay

Police have alleged that the two secret lover campers, Russel Hill and Carol Clay, were "childhood sweethearts" who had started their affair 15 years ago. In a summary of the case against Gregory Lynn, who allegedly killed the pair, police believe that Mr Hill and Ms Clay had rekindled their romance 15 years prior, and would go on regular camping trips to "spend time together". The pair allegedly drifted apart and had children with other partners, according to the documents provided to the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. Mr Hill was married to another woman for 51 years, and according to the police facts provided to the court, his wife believed that he had gone camping alone. “Those close to them believe that they kept their relationship a secret to spare Hill’s family from distress,” the police statement read. The pair had gone camping in Wonnangatta Valley on March 19 2020, and they vanished sometime after 6 pm the next day. Police alleged that Mr Lynn killed the pair after an altercation over a drone, with Mr Hill fatally stabbed and Ms Clay shot in the head. Police also believed that he returned to the area in May and November 2020 to try and "destroy" evidence by setting the pair's remains on fire. Their bodies were buried around 40km from the campsite in Dargo on November 2021. The biggest festive event of the year is back, with Carols in the Domain returning in full force. Hosted by Sunrise presenters Kochie and Nat Barr, the country's biggest musicians will be performing the biggest festive hits on the 40th anniversary of the iconic event. With the event returning in full swing, Kochie and Nat are looking forward to getting in the festive spirit. ''Kochie and I can't wait, and I think Australia can't wait too,'' says Nat. ''Last year we needed Carols to brighten up our year after Covid, this year we're all back to normal, but everyone I talk to says they've been shocked at the frantic pace of life." ''I think we all need a break and Carols will signal that it's really Christmas and we can join with our families and friends and relax, reflect and be thankful.'' ''I'm absolutely busting for it,'' Kochie adds. Joining the pair this year will be performers including Todd McKenney, Rhonda Burchmore, The Wiggles, Mark Vincent, Lachie Gill, Paulini and more, with special guest via satellite, Grammy-winning singer Andrea Bocelli performing a duet with his daughter Virginia. Nat has promised there will be big surprises on the night, but kept tight-lipped about what viewers can expect. ''I can't tell you what they are because then they wouldn't be surprises,'' Nat says. ''But I just think the whole night is beautiful (with) gorgeous gowns, incredible singing, some of Australia's most powerful voices combined with an amazing orchestra and choir." ''I really do love being part of it and I know Australia will love what we've got planned for this year.'' The duo said viewers shouldn't hold their breath for a duet performance, but Kochie said he might belt out a tune. ''I belt out Holy City when Mark Vincent is singing it and I reckon I've nailed it after so many years,'' he jokes. Tom Walker discusses carols performance with Kate Middleton

Scottish singer-songwriter Tom Walker has discussed his "top secret" rehearsal with the Duchess of Cambridge ahead of their performance together at the Royal Carols in December. Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Tom said Kate Middleton is "fantastic" and a "really talented musician". Kate played piano for Tom for his emotional performance of the song For Those Who Can't Be Here at the carols event at Westminster Abbey, surprising royal fans with her musical talent. "We had a rehearsal together, a 'top-secret' rehearsal, just to make sure we were both comfortable with playing with each other and so she could get her head around the arrangement of the song," he explained. Inside Jackie Kennedy’s turbulent relationship with sister Lee Radziwill

Lee Radziwill, who passed away on February 16, left incredible legacies as a socialite, interior designer, public relations executive and style icon, but most remember her as the sister of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Despite her independent achievements, Lee still could not escape comparisons with her older sibling. Following Lee’s death at 85 years old on Friday, the <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/16/obituaries/lee-radziwill-dead.html" target="_blank">New York Times</a> published an obituary that described her as a woman who "made several attempts for professional recognition, but achieved only pale reflections of the spotlight of her sister". Their relationship has long been scrutinised, but most observers agreed that the two had a turbulent bond. "It was never sort of black and white," J. Randy Taraborrelli, biographer and author of Jackie, Janet & Lee, told <a rel="noopener" href="https://people.com/politics/jackie-kennedy-relationship-sister-lee-radziwill-photos/?did=342654-20190220&utm_campaign=people-news_newsletter&utm_source=people.com&utm_medium=email&utm_content=022019&cid=342654&mid=18718959574" target="_blank">People</a>. "There were always shades of grey, and when you try to paint that relationship with a wide brushstroke it never works because there were times when they were very close." The 'competition' between the sisters began in childhood, when it became apparent to Lee that her parents were more inclined towards their oldest daughter. In her 2000 book Happy Times, Lee said their father, John Vernou Bouvier III "favoured Jackie … That was very clear to me, but I didn't resent it, because I understood he had reason to … she was not only named after him … but she actually looked almost exactly like him, which was a source of great pride to my father." Their mother, Janet Norton Lee, showed a similar preference. "My mother endlessly told me I was too fat, that I wasn't a patch on my sister," Lee told <a rel="noopener" href="https://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/07/the-real-lee-radziwill/" target="_blank">T: The New York Times Magazine</a> in 2013. "It wasn't much fun growing up with her and her almost irrational social climbing in that huge house of my dull stepfather Hughdie Auchincloss in Washington." In their early adulthood, Lee beat Jackie to the altar when she married publishing scion Michael Temple Canfield at the age of 20. However, within two months of Lee's marriage, Jackie upstaged her by getting engaged to John F Kennedy, then a senator-to-be from an established and wealthy family. Taraborrelli said Kennedy’s election to presidency in 1960 marked a new stage in the sibling rivalry. "Who's going to be more popular? Who's going to be in more magazines? All of that suddenly came to a crashing halt when Jackie became first lady … Lee [said], 'How can I compete with that?' How do you compete with that?" The sisters' cousin John H Davies wrote in the 1969 book The Bouviers that Jackie’s new connection to the White House exacerbated Lee’s identity crisis as her sister. "Although she was abundantly gifted herself … she had often been obscured by the shadow of her sister’s prominence, and now that shadow threatened to eclipse her identity," Davies wrote. Taraborrelli said Lee "had so defined herself as being in competition with Jackie that when finally there was no competition, she didn’t even know who she was. Then that marked a new era for Lee Radziwill. That's when she decided, 'I've got to do something.'" Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Lee made new friends and ventured into new fields on her own, including acting and interior decorating. However, within weeks of President JFK’s death in 1963, Lee was also the one who stayed as a pillar of support for her grieving sister. According to Jackie’s secret service agent Clint Hill, Lee did "everything she could to support her sister" and “remained with us pretty much during that entire time until Mrs Kennedy and the children moved out of the White House". "It's just the most ludicrous talk in the world that we’re rivals," Lee told <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/a26414276/lee-radziwill-support-jackie-kennedy-jfk-assassination/" target="_blank">People</a> in 1976. "We're exceptionally close and always have been. We’re together very often. In fact, endlessly." According to <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2016/04/jackie-kennedy-lee-radziwill-sisterhood" target="_blank">Vanity Fair</a>, when Jackie fell ill with cancer in 1994, Lee rushed to her side. Lee was also present the day before Jackie passed, when she was still in coma. However, Jackie still left Lee out of her will. She granted her holdings and bequests for her children, family and friends while giving nothing for Lee. Jackie reportedly wrote, "I have made no provision in this, my will, for my sister, Lee B. Radziwill, for whom I have great affection, because I have already done so during my lifetime." Taraborrelli said of the sisters: "They were rivals, but also confidantes. In a way, they could understand each other in a way no one else could."

Duchess Kate’s mum Carole reveals what Christmas will be like at the Middletons

Carole Middleton has given royal fans a glimpse into how Prince William, Duchess Kate and their three adorable children will be spending Christmas Day this year. In a new interview with the <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/">Telegraph,</a> the 63-year-old grandma discussed the measures they take to ensure their £4.7million mansion in Bucklebury is looking festive. To get Prince George, Princess Charlotte and now Prince Louis excited for Christmas, Carole likes to put several trees indoors, saying “she likes to have as many as possible in the house". The royal grandchildren will also have their own tree in their room “so that they can decorate it themselves”. Carole revealed that she also has one “fashionable” tree with a clear theme, another decorated with sentimental baubles from over the years and a final tree that the grandchildren can decorate however they want. Kate’s mother also admitted that it takes a lot of planning to take care of everything in the lead up to the holidays, with the self-described “list-maker” saying that she began planning just after Halloween. The Middleton family spend Christmas Day by attending church in the morning before going on a walk and then returning home to open up their presents together. The clan will be served smoked salmon for lunch with champagne and then feast on a traditional Christmas dinner in the evening. Since Carole turned flexitarian, there will also be vegan options for all their holiday meals. Carole told the Telegraph: “I’ve recently gone vegan. Or maybe that should be flexitarian. “If I go to someone’s house for dinner, I’m not going to make a fuss. For Christmas, I’d probably have two options – very traditional and something vegan.” Carole also revealed that her three Christmas essentials are mince pies, mulled wine and mistletoe. Although the day takes a lot of effort, Carole said it’s important to remember what it is all about. “Don’t get hung up on perfection. Often it’s the mistakes that make things memorable.” Although her eldest grandson Prince George will be king one day, Carole described herself as a “normal” and “hands-on” grandmother, whose family comes first in her life. Carole and husband Michael Middleton are also parents to Pippa, 35, and James, 31.

In an upcoming investigative series “How It Really Happened: JFK Jr's Tragic Final Flight,” Carole Radziwill opens up about the plane crash that killed her best friend Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and her cousin-in-law John F Kennedy Jr. In the two-hour TV special, Carole will detail her final phone call with Carolyn. Carole not only spoke to the couple just before they died but she was supposed to meet the pair when they landed. "Carolyn called me from the plane right before they were taking off," Carole says in a teaser clip. "And I think it was probably a little bit after eight o' clock. I don't remember anything really important from that conversation. I didn't certainly think it would be the last time I would speak to my friend. I remember at the end she said, you know, 'I love you.' And for some reason, I didn't say I love you back. And that always stuck with me. And then she said 'I'll call you when we land.' And then that was the last I ever heard from her." Carol will also reveal how she reacted when she found out her friends had not made it to Martha's Vineyard. "I spent 15 years as a journalist and producer at ABC News, and I thought, 'OK, I need to figure out this story and solve it somehow. I need to figure out where they are, because they're somewhere,'" she says. “JFK Jr's Tragic Final Flight" will premiere on HLN at 9 pm ET on March 10. No word yet on when it will air here. The Bouvier sisters always seemed to live a glamourous life, but in a new tell-all interview with <a href="http://www.vanityfair.com/style/2016/04/jackie-kennedy-lee-radziwill-sisterhood" target="_blank">Vanity Fair</a>, Lee Radziwill has revealed she and former First Lady Jackie Kennedy (later Onassis) never had the closest sisterhood bond. Lee has told of a rivalry with her older sister, claiming she always felt pressure to live up to her sister’s many accomplishments. They also often competed for the same men – in particular, Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, to whom Radziwill became close following the breakup of her marriage to Prince Stanislaw Radziwill. When asked in an interview with Larry King if she had ever considered marrying Onassis herself, she replied, “Who didn’t?” The 83-year-old also revealed she resented certain restrictions placed upon her when Jackie became First Lady. “There were so many things I couldn't do when my brother-in-law was president,” she said. She added that after the death of John F. Kennedy she thought, “Finally, I'm free.” After Jackie’s death in 1994 it was reported that she left her sister out of her will, leaving “not even a memento” to Lee, an act which “deeply hurt” her. While the album isn’t one you’ll put on at Christmas – it’s not exactly easy listening – the novelty album is for a good cause: to raise awareness of how important goats are to families in great poverty. "A Christmas album is of course something we do with a twinkle in our eye, while we want to show how important a goat can be for people living in poverty," ActionAid Sweden collection manager Miriam Isaksson said. "A goat could be the fresh start that a family needs to take the first step out of poverty. "Goats survive in harsh climates where it is too dry to grow crops, they are easy to breed and give vital milk, just to name a few examples." Train conductor conducts singing group in beautiful Christmas carol

A railroad conductor proved his conducting skills aren’t limited to trains when he led the Yale Glee Club in a beautiful rendition of a Christmas carol. When Bob McDonough met the singers on the train, the idea for the video was sparked. "I told them I was a conductor, so I must conduct ... and somehow they bought it," he posted on Facebook. The clip shows the conductor interrupting the group singing the carol "Here We Come A-Wassailing." "I'm your conductor, let me conduct," McDonough says as the club laughs and cheers. Rare photos of Prince George and grandma, Carole, at the beach

It wasn’t all presents and royal parties to celebrate Prince George’s second birthday. The little prince also took some time out with his grandma, Carole Middleton, on July 22 to spend a quiet morning frolicking on the beach – with doggy Lupo in tow as well. Although it is summer in the UK, George and Carole wore jackets for their beach outing, as the weather appeared to be quite cool. The photos show them holding hands, dipping their toes in the water and playing in the sand at Norfolk beach. Like any doting granny, Carole took pictures on her phone as the little prince was building sand castles. They appear to be bestest of buddies.
