Why customers are furious with Domino's

<p>Customers are furious with Domino's after a simple menu change was poorly received, with the fast-food restaurant's social media accounts flooded with complaints.</p> <p>But what is the cause of consternation?</p> <p>Well, Domino's recently decided to ditch Coca Cola drinks in favour of Pepsi branded beverages. And while this might not seem a big change, it was not well received.</p> <p>The pizza chain, which first arrived in Australia in 1983, has since copped a beating on social media, but few posts had the ferocity of Liam Wilson's:</p> <p><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FDominosAustralia%2Fposts%2F10156077807451412&amp;width=500" width="500" height="267" style="border: none; overflow: hidden;" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true"></iframe></p> <p>Other users were just as concerned:</p> <p><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FDominosAustralia%2Fposts%2F10156079871306412&amp;width=500" width="500" height="199" style="border: none; overflow: hidden;" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true"></iframe> <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FDominosAustralia%2Fposts%2F10156081226446412&amp;width=500" width="500" height="235" style="border: none; overflow: hidden;" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true"></iframe></p> <p>Some people welcomed the changes with open arms however:</p> <p><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FDominosAustralia%2Fposts%2F10156080653856412&amp;width=500" width="500" height="267" style="border: none; overflow: hidden;" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true"></iframe> <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FDominosAustralia%2Fposts%2F10156081815921412&amp;width=500" width="500" height="199" style="border: none; overflow: hidden;" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true"></iframe></p> <p>In a statement to <em>news.com.au</em>, Domino's CEO Nick Knight said they made the change because of what customers said.</p> <p>“Customers have told us they want more choice so we are proud to be rolling out our new drinks range to all stores across Australia,” Mr Knight said.</p> <p>“We know each drink in the Schweppes range has a devoted and loyal fanbase so we are excited to be offering this extensive range to our customers,” he added.</p> <p>The drinks arrangement will see Domino’s stock Pepsi/Schweppes products exclusively in place of Coca Cola branded products for the next six and half years.</p> <p>What do you think? Do you think this change is a winner?</p>

Domino’s 10,001 free pizza giveaway leaves customers fuming

<p>To celebrate the launch of its new premium range of pizzas, Domino’s Australia announced on Facebook it would be giving away 10,001 free pizzas to customers. All those interested had to do was head to the “10,001 Free Pizzas” tab on their Facebook page,</p> <p>Unfortunately, it didn’t quite go to plan –and people were not happy. When customers attempted to click the link through to the free pizza offer, they were presented with a 404 error page.</p> <p>“After 27 minutes of refreshing, I get various combinations of ‘This page is not published’ or ‘There has been an error’,” one social media user wrote. “The closest I got was ‘This item could not be rendered.’”</p> <p>“Ok for Domino’s to say keep trying but how many different error messages can you get,” wrote another. “This is a total social media promotion fail.”</p> <p>Dozens took to the page to slam the chain, saying, “We’ll never buy from you again,” and that they had “lost us as customers”.</p> <p>A spokesperson today told <a href="http://www.news.com.au/finance/business/retail/dominos-to-give-away-10001-pizzas/news-story/9ee07d07aacf6d674bf2ee6c1a7ece7d" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>news.com.au</strong></span></a> that the problems were due to unprecedented demand. “We do apologise that it took multiple attempts for some customers to receive their voucher,” they said. “Our fans are so hungry for our new menu, and free pizza, that they almost broke the internet. To the lucky 10,000 + 1, enjoy your free pizzas!”</p> <p>The controversy comes just days after Domino’s <a href="http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/food/eat/pizza-hut-giving-margherita-fans-free-pizza-in-response-to-dominos-remove-it-from-their-menu/news-story/ef3cc7b32aaecc80d4a7282609ebfb95" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>backflipped</strong></span></a> on their decision to dump their classic margherita pizza from the menu.</p> <p>Did you try to claim this offer yesterday?
