Fibro house in Western Sydney sells for over a million dollars

A grimy fibro house located in Sydney’s budding western suburb of Ermington, has become the centre of a bidding war.

The property went up for online auction, only to be met with 21 buyers who registered to get their hands on the estate.

The rundown contents located on Patterson Street in Ermington sold under the hammer for $1.408 million - $258,000 over the reserve.

The opening bid began at $950,000.

Selling agent Rocco Ranieri from Richardson and Wrench-Parramatta said the house was beyond repair and would likely be knocked down.

“It was an extraordinary price given the condition of the house,” Mr Ranieri said.

“$1.2 million would have been a fair price but this was higher than we expected.”
