Paul Hogan's grandson is facing charges after breaking into a secure room at Sydney Airport, just months after avoiding jail on other charges.

Police have alleged that Jake Paul Hogan had housebreaking tools in his possession on August 10th when he broke into a secure employee bike rack room in the carpark of the Sydney International Airport.

It was there he allegedly stole a custom bike worth $5,000, before returning just three days later with the same housebreaking tools and two black mountain bikes which are suspected to have been stolen.

Mr Hogan was charged with six offences related to the break-ins on August 28th, when he was already in custody on remand over separate allegations of breaking and entering.

The charges come just three months after the 34-year-old was released from prison after 57 days behind bars.

At the time of his release, Hogan broke down in court after learning that his father has moved to Sydney to support him in living a life without crime when he leaves jail.

His father Todd Hogan, who is the son of the Crocodile Dundee star, flew back from New Zealand to support his son at the sentencing, in which he was sentenced for breaking into apartment buildings to fund his “high-level drug habit” and for breaching a court order against an ex-girlfriend in May.

Image credits: Getty Images / Facebook

“Turn his life around”: Paul Hogan’s grandson set to be released from prison

The grandson of Crocodile Dundee is set to be released from prison after 57 days behind bars.

Jake Paul Hogan, 34, broke down in court after learning that his father has moved to Sydney to support him in living a life without crime when he leaves jail.

His father Todd Hogan, who is the son of the Crocodile Dundee star, flew back from New Zealand to support his son at the sentencing at the Downing Centre Local Court, which Jake appeared at via audio link.

The younger Hogan was in custody on remand after his bail was refused in March, and was sentenced on Wednesday for breaking into apartment buildings to fund his “high-level drug habit” and for breaching a court order against an ex-girlfriend.

Before falling into a life of drugs, Jake worked as a carpenter but soon became homeless after his drug addiction took hold.

In order to fund his drug habit, the 34-year-old began sleeping in abandoned buildings, and stealing clothes and other items to sell for cash.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Sharon Freund described Jake’s actions as a “sudden escalation of offending” after his life broke down, while also telling the court she was “comforted” by the fact he was supported by his father Todd and sister in court.

“This is a young man that needs some scaffolding, he totally has the ability to turn his life around,” she said. “No doubt you were having difficulty seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and managing to find your way out of the hole.”

The court was told Jake’s father was having trouble contacting his son during his difficult times, and had even flown to Sydney from New Zealand to find him.

“Mr Hogan you are phenomenally lucky to have these supports,” Ms Freund said.

She told the court Jake’s father is set to remain in Sydney to give him support when he leaves custody.

Jake was convicted of all charges and sentenced to a community corrections order for two years, and an intensive corrections order for nine months.

“I wish you good luck Mr Hogan,” Ms Freund said.

Image credits: Getty Images / Facebook

Paul Hogan calls Margot Robbie's Oscars snub a "dull tradition"

Paul Hogan has called out The Academy for their "dull tradition” after Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig were snubbed for an Oscar nomination in February.

Despite being the only film directed by a woman to earn more than $1 billion at the box office, Robbie and Gerwig were both snubbed in their respective categories of leading actress and best director during the 96th Academy Awards, which sparked outrage online.

Speaking to Sunrise on Friday, the Crocodile Dundee actor revealed his thoughts on why he thinks both the Aussie actor and Barbie director missed out on a nomination.

“To see them not nominated, that’s a sort of like ... a dull tradition of ‘if it’s not about pain and suffering, it can’t be very good’. It’s not fair,” Hogan said.

He then praised Robbie, saying: “She’s great — not only is she beautiful and smart, she’s a nice kid, too.”

During the interview on Sunrise, Hogan also reflected on the time he hosted the Oscars in 1987, and said that it was good fun.

“It was fabulous because I was probably the first person ever allowed on live television to do the Oscars without presenting a script or having anything written on the auto-cue,” he said.

“They were very nervous but Samuel Goldwyn, who was the producer, said, ‘I’ve seen him on television. He’s Hoges … let’s just let him go and it’ll be fun for all of us’.”

The actor added that while he rarely felt "intimidated", there were a few times in his career where he was starstruck — most notably when he met the Queen, Princess Diana, and Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor.

Hogan's first public appearance was in 1971 at Nine's amateur talent programme New Faces.

He rose to international fame after his role as Mick "Crocodile" Dundee in the 1986 film Crocodile Dundee, which won him the 1987 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor and a few other nominations at the BAFTAs.

Images: Seven/ Getty

Why Queen Elizabeth apologised to Paul Hogan during their 1980 meeting

Paul Hogan has reflected on his 1980 meeting with Queen Elizabeth, and what caused the late monarch to apologise to the actor.

The Crocodile Dundee icon spoke with Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair, her last interview before leaving the program after 17 years, and recalled the moment he got a lot of "flack" for his choice of outfit to meet the royals.

Grimshaw brought up a photo from the book of Hogan meeting the Queen after he performed in the Royal Charity Concert at Sydney Opera House in 1980.

When they met, Hogan donned a cut off flannel shirt, stubby shorts and footy socks.

"I love that shot," the actor said. "I got a lot of flack over that but the Queen didn't mind."

Hogan has said in previous interviews that "everyone was horrified" by what he wore that night when he met the royals, with the exception of Queen Elizabeth.

Hogan told Grimshaw that the late Queen had apologised to him during their brief meeting after she "won" a prize to have dinner at his home.

"The show we did at the Opera House for entertaining her, part of the thing I did was to pretend to draw the lucky seat prize," he said.

"I drew two names out, which obviously was the Queen and Philip, and said the prize that they'd won was dinner at my place, and told them how to get there, what bus to catch and all that kind of stuff - was all funny."

"But when I met her, she then leaned over and said, 'I'm sorry dear, I don't think we'll be able to make dinner', which is great, she's got a sense of humour."

Hogan also shared an update on his health battle, telling Grimshaw that he'd lost a lot of weight and was being "held together with string".

"I had a problem on the aorta and the kidney and the treatment fixed it but it shrunk me," he said.

"I'd still take out most 40-year-olds then I turned 80 and there's a saying that turning 80's not for sissies because things start to fall apart but, no, I can't complain."

Paul Hogan’s “homesick” plea falls on deaf ears

Aussie actor Paul Hogan appeared on Sunrise complaining that he’s “desperately homesick” in Los Angeles and eager to return to Australia - without much sympathy from Sunrise viewers.

The Crocodile Dundee star appeared emotional as he was being interviewed by hosts Natalie Barr and David Koch on Tuesday, May 11, speaking from his $4.5 million mansion in Venice Beach.

“I’m desperately homesick. You’re living in a country right now, alongside New Zealand, that’s the light of the world,” he told the program hosts.

“I’m living in LA county which has 10 million people, and about half of ‘em got COVID. So am I homesick? You bet your life.”

Kochie also noted that the 81-year-old, who regularly appears on Sunrise, was the “most down” they’d ever seen him. Hogan said he was trying to stay positive despite taking steroids for a kidney issue that resulted in his face bloating. He also said he barely left his house in California, as the pandemic has seen the area spike in homelessness and crime and the wider Los Angeles area being hit hard by COVID-19.

Kochie pointed out that many celebrities entering Australia had managed to skip hotel quarantine and isolate privately. But Hogan dismissed the idea, insisted he and his youngest son, Clance, would have to complete hotel quarantine together and would “strangle each other”.

Despite his visibly low spirits, many Sunrise viewers were unsympathetic to the star’s situation, questioning how “desperate” he really was if he refused to undergo hotel quarantine for two weeks.

“Quarantine like everyone else … or stay in America,” one viewer wrote.

“Desperately homesick … won’t quarantine for two weeks to get back. He is an elderly 81-year-old fella obviously homesick. A bit of compassion wouldn’t hurt.”

This isn’t the first time Hogan has expressed his desire to come home either.

In an October 2020 interview with the Courier Mail, he said of his LA home, “I’m like a kangaroo in a Russian zoo - I don’t belong here.”

Why Paul Hogan can't call Australia home just yet

Paul Hogan seems to personify everything that makes a true Aussie - kind, unpretentious and a larrikin.

While he is largely responsible for selling a friendly, charming image of Australia through his tourism ads and the character of Mick Dundee, the Crocodile Dundee actor admitted on ABC’s Australian Storyhis relationship with the beloved country became strained in the 1980’s.

Issues arose after the launch of Crocodile Dundee II, when he revealed he’d left his wife of 30 years for his younger co-star, Linda Kozlowski.

"When Paul and Noelene split, the whole image of Paul being this ordinary guy from the bridge was interrupted in people's minds," the director of The Paul Hogan Show and Crocodile Dundee, Peter Faiman said.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Super Álbum Geek (@superalbumgeek) on Sep 7, 2019 at 8:09am PDT

A friend and former colleague of the star, Delvene Delay said the media wanted to ruin the 79-year-old.

"I remember him saying to the press, 'I'm not a tall poppy, I'm an ironbark tree. But they tried."

The press coverage of Paul’s relationship with his ex-wife impacted him heavily, and said he resented the implication he’d abandoned his family.

"They painted this picture of these five little kids standing at the gate — 'When's Daddy coming home?'" Hogan said.

"They were all grown up except one, and he was 14. "I can just put me sunglasses on or a cap or something and no-one recognises me and that's a luxury."

The actor admitted his homesickness dwindled once he was hit with a long investigation into his financial affairs by the Australian Tax Office.

While the matter was settled eventually, the damage was done.

"It has besmirched his reputation a bit, especially in Australia," his son Todd said. "Even mates of mine will make a crack about it."

Hogan agreed, saying "I wasn't charged but I've still got it attached to me.”

"It never depressed me or anything but it made me angry — made me want to thump somebody. I haven't really got it out of me system yet."

These days Hogan lives peacefully in Los Angeles, and while he misses his “home,” Australia - he hasn’t moved back just yet.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by MHM Podcast Network (@mhmpodcastnetwork) on Jul 26, 2019 at 6:38pm PDT

"He's always missed home and he's always spent a lot more time here than people realise," Dan Murphy, friend of Hogan and Australian director said.

"He's back and forth all the time but he doesn't call a press conference when he comes back to spend time with his family.”

The reason for this not going back is simple - his 21-year-old son isn’t quite ready to go yet.

"I'm only living in Los Angeles because he's not ready for me to leave," Hogan said.

"He's got his own friends that he grew up with and his band, they're in LA. Inside Hogan’s Heroes star Bob Crane’s secret double-life and unsolved murder

Bob Crane will always be remembered for playing American hero Colonel Hogan in the hit ‘60s sitcom Hogan’s Heroes, but a recent book published by his son Robert Crane has brought the television actor back to the public eye.

The paperback, titled Crane: Sex, Celebrity and My Father’s Unsolved Murder, has attempted to debunk the portrayal of the actor as a handsome, clean cut family man, while addressing rumours that surround his 1978 murder.

“I was aware that he loved women and that he probably should not have been married,” Robert told Fox News. “He probably should have been a single guy because he was not the most faithful companion in the world. I was aware of that.

“I was aware of his love of photography … When home video came out in the mid-60s, he had to have one of the first units. I was aware of him taping women with their consent … It was always consensual. There was nothing hidden. There were no drugs. Both people wanted to be there.”

Crane’s sex addiction has long been an open-secret in Hollywood, and according to his son Robert there wasn’t much he did in the household to hide it from the family.

“It wasn’t a secret,” insisted Robert. “It wasn’t a secret at all … Everybody knew that was his dark room … I was a teenager, probably around 15-16 years old when I saw my dad taping women on the road when he wasn’t doing Hogan’s.

“You got to remember that back in the ’60s and ’70s, the home video was the selfie of today … Everybody wanted to do it. Including the women that he met. So I saw some videos of different women … I put two and two together.”

Robert does have fond memories of his father however.

“He was a fun-loving guy,” said Robert. “When he was at home, we had fun. He and I co-created a baseball league in our pool … I would be the LA Dodgers. He would be the New York Yankees. We had a schedule, we had a world series.

“We did home movies. He did a movie and I [played] an FBI agent. My cousins where in it, my dad was in it … This project took months to get together and it was about eight minutes long. But those were the kinds of things we did. We just had a great time.”

After his career faded into obscurity, in June 1978 Crane was found bludgeoned to death in his Scottsdale apartment, a murder which currently remains unsolved by authorities.

Robert addressed the incident in his interview.

“The police took us to the crime scene,” he claimed. “My dad’s body had been removed.
