"I stand here with you as a survivor": Delta Goodrem's emotional tribute

<p>Delta Goodrem recently looked back on the 20th anniversary of the day she received a diagnosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma at the tender age of just 18.</p> <p>In a touching Instagram post, she revisited photographs and videos from that period, recalling the memories as vividly as if they had happened just yesterday.</p> <p>The songstress reminisced about the time when she was on the verge of making her international debut, only to be confronted with the life-altering news.</p> <p>At the time of her diagnosis, her debut album "Innocent Eyes" had reached the number one spot on the ARIA charts and was steadily climbing the charts in Europe.</p> <p>However, her dreams of global success were abruptly interrupted by the revelation that she had Hodgkin's lymphoma, a form of blood cancer that affects the immune system.</p> <p>"July 8, 2003. I remember that day so clearly and all the mixed emotions that came with the news of being diagnosed with cancer while my album had been sitting at #1 for three months prior, and the third single hit #1 the same day," she wrote in her Instagram caption.</p> <p>"I was meant to be going over to Europe where my album had just debuted at #2 and #1 in all different countries that week to start international promo. One split second and all the plans had changed. That's life."</p> <p>Instead of embarking on her planned promotional tour in Europe, Goodrem swiftly underwent treatment for her cancer. However, she has no regrets about the turn of events, believing that everything happens for a reason.</p> <p>"There is meaning and beauty in facing these challenges from a different viewpoint. There must be a reason this is happening – How can I come out better? What is the lesson?" she expressed.</p> <p>Fortunately, in December 2003, Goodrem announced that her Hodgkin's lymphoma had gone into remission. Now, she views this as a "beautiful full circle moment" and the beginning of a "brand new chapter."</p> <p>"As I type this in London, I am working on the @deltagoodremfoundation's first-ever Gala event," she continued in her post. "I was working on new music and shows all day yesterday. Today, we're throwing a new music party. "So upset": Delta Goodrem's sad health announcement

<p>Delta Goodrem has been forced to postpone her upcoming Innocent Eyes tour, after she has been placed on "strict vocal rest". </p> <p>The Aussie songstress is reportedly "so upset" about he decision to postpone the UK and Europe leg of the tour, according to Nine's entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins. </p> <p>"She's OK, but she's upset, as you would be," Wilkins said as he broke the news on <em>Today Extra</em>.</p> <p>"She's been so looking forward to this," he added. European shows," the star wrote.</p> <p>"I am feeling so grateful to be this busy at this moment of my career, but from overextending myself on a number of projects, including preparing new music for you all, I have unfortunately overused my vocal cords to the point of me having no voice for extended periods of time," she added.</p> <p>On <em>Today Extra</em>, Wilkins added that cancelling a show is something that "every artist hates", but "for Delta, this is such a big thing."</p> <p>"She's so resilient, she's had problems before but she needs to do this," Wilkins said.</p> <p>The "problem" Wilkins is referring to is when Delta battled cancer in the early years of her career, after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma when she was just 18-years-old in 2003.</p> <p>At the time, Goodrem had just released her debut album <em>Innocent Eyes</em>, but was forced to spend her time undergoing chemotherapy treatment and radiation rather than on tour. </p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images</em></p>

Delta Goodrem’s childhood home up for grabs

<p>Australian singer songwriter Delta Goodrem’s childhood home is set to go under the hammer with a $4m price tag. </p> <p>Lea Goodrem, Delta’s mother, reached the difficult decision to sell after 38 years in the 5-bedroom property in Sydney’s Hills District. As she told <em>News Corp</em>, the family had shared many happy memories in the Glenhaven home - with both Delta and her brother Trent spending their childhoods there - but that the time had come for her to move on. </p> <p>“I’m not 21 anymore,” she pointed out. “It’s been a beautiful house, such a wonderful home, full of laughter and such fantastic memories that I will always cherish. But it’s just me and the animals now. </p> <p>“It’s time for another big family to enjoy it and all its benefits. It’s been such an incredible place to live and we are very grateful to have called this our home for so long.”</p> <p>Lea hopes to travel before she settles down again, probably downsizing in comparison to her current abode.</p> <p>“I’m sure I will miss it,” she confessed, “but it’s time for another family to enjoy it, for this house to be filled with joy and laughter again. It’s the perfect sanctuary.”</p> <p>“I hope whoever buys it will love it as much as we have. But I’m not getting any younger. I need something more manageable. It’s a bittersweet decision. But the kids understand, it’s time to move on.”</p> <p>Louis Carr’s Michael Robert, the agent bringing the property to market, agreed with its potential for the next big family, noting that the home has “everything a family needs, including a tennis court and pool in a quiet bush location which is close to shops and schools.” </p> <p>From its modern architecture to its innovative designs, tennis court, paved courtyard, vaulted ceilings, and indoor spa, its next owners are in for a treat. Granted, of course, that they have a space four million dollars lying around. </p> <p>The home, situated on Delavor Place, raised more than just the Goodrem children. It also supported and nurtured budding star Delta’s career, with the singer penning her 2003 debut album Innocent Eyes and the hit track ‘Born to Try’.</p> <p>“It was a home that was filled with music, lots of exciting things were happening,” Lea Goodrem explained.</p> <p>“The home is an oasis,” she added, “we had two baby grand pianos and the music could be belted out without fear of retribution by the neighbours. Back to the Future stars reunite

<p>It’s been 37 years since the cinematic masterpiece, Back to the Future part 1, graced our screens. You might be wondering where they are now, although the appropriate question would be, “when the hell are they?”</p> <p>The Back to the Future stars joined up at a fan convention in Portland, USA, and the excitement from fans sighting Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and Thomas Wilson used up a lot more energy than 1.21 gigawatts.</p> <p>Last year, Fox and Lloyd came together on stage at Comic-Con in New York in an emotional display, which brought fans in the audience to tears.</p> <p>On stage, Fox said, referring to his co-star Lloyd, “The best part of the movie was working with Chris,” going on to say he was a genius, also revealing there was “immediate chemistry” between the pair.</p> <p>Fox played the iconic Marty McFly in the 1985 movie. Director Robert Zemeckis had originally cast Eric Stolz as Marty, however, due to conflict with his schedule on Family Ties, Stolz couldn’t continue with the project.</p> <p>Stolz started filming in November 1984 but was replaced by early January. Aside from the schedule conflict with Stolz, it was reported that early footage was also underwhelming. What a wonderful tribute: Goldie Hawn's incredible Olivia moment

<p dir="ltr">The devastating death of Dame Olivia Newton-John has rocked the world as many sent their condolences to her family.</p> <p dir="ltr">The <em>Grease </em>star “passed away peacefully” at the age of 73 at her Ranch in Southern California surrounded by family.</p> <p dir="ltr">While Olivia’s family has been awash in an outpouring of love, support and shared grief, few tributes produced full-body goosebumps quite like the one shared by the normally highly private and reticent Goldie Hawn.</p> <p dir="ltr">Goldie took to Instagram to share a beautiful musical line-up that featured Olivia, Lily Tomlin, Cher, Bette Midler, Meryl Streep and of course, herself.</p> <p dir="ltr">“A light landed on this planet 73 years ago,” Goldie’s caption read.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Her voice brought us to such joyous heights, nothing held her back, nothing. Delta Goodrem finally reveals why she REALLY left The Voice

<p>Delta Goodrem has finally opened up about her surprise departure from her role as a coach on <em>The Voice</em>. </p> <p>After eight long seasons on the show, Delta revealed she was keen to "find a new chapter creatively", after being part of of the franchise since 2012. </p> <p>Delta started on the show on the first season, skipped season three and then returned for season four until the ninth season in 2020. </p> <p>Following the 2020, the future of <em>The Voice</em> took an unexpected turn, as rival network Seven poached the series when the Nine Network failed to pick it up.</p> <p>After months of speculation, the new coaching panel was revealed for the 2021, with Delta nowhere to be seen. </p> <p>“[The Voice] took up a lot of the year for me but I loved the show,” Goodrem says in a new interview for <a href="https://www.marieclaire.com.au">Marie Claire’s January issue</a>.</p> <p>“I gave it my absolute everything. I gave the artists everything I had. I was there from the very start and I was proud to be an anchor on the show.”</p> <p>However, when Delta hit the 150-episode mark, she knew it was time to move on. </p> <p><span>“In my heart I was like ‘thank you for this, now let’s finish the season, then it’s time for me to find a new chapter creatively’,” she said.</span></p> <p><span>The show's 10th season was an unlikely success for Channel 7, which was a bitter blow for the Nine Network. </span></p> <p>“Unfortunately due to the age of the show and its declining demographic profile, The Voice had become by far the poorest financial performer on our slate. We wish Seven well in their quest to revive yet another Nine show,” a Nine spokesperson said at the time of the dramatic poaching.</p> <p>Delta claims her exit from the show has given her time to focus on her music career, with her latest release hitting the top of the charts. </p> <p><span>“I’ve been proud of being my authentic self the whole way through my career. Delta Goodrem’s surprising admission

<p>Delta Goodrem has a confession make - she was 27 when she had her first alcoholic drink.</p> <p>“I’d worked from such a young age that it wasn’t until my late twenties that I finally started to have my teenage years,” Goodrem told News Corp Australia yesterday.</p> <p>“I had so much going on in my teens there wasn’t really the space to have a few drinks and have my friends look after me. But in my late twenties I had that period of self-discovery, things had started to get a bit much for me around that time. The lyrics mention how I was trying to numb the pain around me. It was an interesting chapter in my life.”</p> <p>Goodrem made the revelation in her first book, Bridge Over Troubled Dreams, the companion piece to her new album of the same name.</p> <p>Both will be released on May 14.</p> <p>“One day I’d like to write an autobiography, but right now I’m happy to share my stories through music. This book is about the making of the album, the stories behind each song and what I learned while I was making. Delta and Boy George drop bombshell in the lead up to Christmas

<p>While no one really knows who will be on The Voice judging panel next year, it has been recently revealed that Delta Goodrem and Boy George will be joining forces for a special project.</p> <p>Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, Boy George revealed that he and Delta will release a festive song together.</p> <p>“Very excited to be recording a xmas song with @DeltaGoodrem and that's all I'm saying! Lol!” he teased.</p> <p>This isn’t the first time the Culture Club star released Christmas music, as dedicated fans will remember George being one of the famous singers to feature on Bob Geldof’s 1984 iconic hit, Do They Know It’s Christmas?, which raised money for those affected by famine in Ethiopia.</p> <p>While none of The Voice coaches have officially confirmed whether they are staying or going on the show, George previously joked on social media that Channel Seven “couldn’t afford him”.</p> <p>Solid Gold singer Delta cryptically touched on her future on The Voice during a recent interview with Stellar.</p> <p>“I love the show. It’s such a wonderful experience and is something I’ve been a part of since day one,” Delta told the publication.</p> <p>“I say after every season – because everybody asks every year – that, as an artist, I take in each moment and appreciate the year that’s been and all the different things I’ve been a part of," she added.</p> <p>“Then looking ahead, I step into every role and every decision for my next chapter as an ever-evolving artist, and it’s always a step-by-step process of looking at my goals and planning the year ahead.”</p> <p>Meanwhile, <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.newidea.com.au/guy-sebastian-the-voice-2021" target="_blank">Guy Sebastian, 39, has also weighed in, telling New Idea</a>: “I’ve had a conversation, as has Delta. Delta Goodrem's terrifying secret health battle

<p>Delta Goodrem has opened up about the terrifying secret health battle that left her unable to speak following complications from surgery.</p> <p>The 35-year-old singer shared the story on Instagram, saying issues had occurred due to having her salivary gland removed at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney two years ago.</p> <p>Goodrem revealed that she discovered a paralysis of a nerve in her tongue which led to being unable to speak when she woke up from a surgery.</p> <p>She uploaded footage of the moment on social media, dated October 2018, which shows the<span> </span><em>Voice</em><span> </span>star struggling to speak while sitting in a hospital bed.</p> <p>In another clip from 2018, a tearful Goodrem tells the camera: “I don’t want to go out, I’m super embarrassed. I’m just over it. I’m just trying to stay positive.”</p> <p>She added: “My livelihood is my sound … I’m trying to decide whether this is getting any better or not. It doesn’t feel like it.”</p> <p>After a long journey, Goodrem finally has her voice back.</p> <p>Going through months of speech therapy, the singer explained to fans that she kept her health battle private for so long as she wasn’t “ready” to share it. </p> <p>But as she releases her new song<span> </span><em>Paralyzed</em>, she has laid it all bare saying the experience is the inspiration behind the song.</p> <p>Goodrem reminded everyone that no one truly knows what others are privately dealing with.</p> <p>“I share this with you as an artist sharing where the poetry in this song comes from, and as a human who deeply feels and understands that everyone has their own story and their own challenges,” she said.</p> <p>“You never know what someone is going through and this is an extremely hard time for people. Boy George reveals what he really thinks of The Voice judges

<p>Boy George has revealed he uses the highly controversial method of astrology to give him an advantage on The Voice.<br /><br />The pop star, 59, told 9Now on Monday that he actually used the cosmos to help him to deal with his fellow judges, Delta Goodrem, Guy Sebastian and Kelly Rowland.<br /><br />Delta's star sign is Taurus, which means George knows she is “practical and emotional” but also “highly stubborn”.<br /><br />“If you look up the word stubborn in the dictionary, there's a picture of Delta looking gorgeous,” he said.<span> </span><br /><br />Former Australian Idol winner Guy is a Scorpio, which makes him “strong and opinionated” but also a “peacemaker”</p> <p>“So what Guy does is he'll say something b****y and when you pull him up on it, he'll go, ‘Oh no, I was only joking!'” George explained.</p> <p>George also isn't surprised by Aquarian Kelly's long-running feud with Guy.<br /><br />“Aquarians get up in the morning and sit down and go, ‘How can I make my life more difficult today?’” he said.<br /><br />Despite being able to nitpick his fellow judges personalities and quirks, he admitted that astrology has also given him the grace and understanding to forgive his co-stars when they cause drama and display bad on-set behaviour as he knows they “can’t help it”.</p>

Why some viewers despise Delta Goodrem

<p>Delta Goodrem has long been considered Australia’s sweetheart; however, she has been dividing fans since her very first season on<span> </span><em>The Voice</em><span> </span>in 2012.</p> <p>This season, just like any other, has resulted in many people branding the 35-year-old singer “annoying and insufferable” for her behaviour on-screen.</p> <p>Industry expert Rob McKnight told the <em>Daily Mail</em> that the reason behind Delta’s bad image is her undeniable career success.</p> <p>“Anyone who's successful in this country has just as many haters as they do fans,” said McKnight.</p> <p>“It's better to be polarising rather than bland; nobody cares about bland.”</p> <p>He also blamed Australia’s tall poppy syndrome for Delta’s large number of trolls.</p> <p>“In Australia we always love to cut down the tall poppies and the fact Delta has had so much success in her life only leads people to despise her success and feel jealous of it,” he explained.</p> <p>His kind words come after a senior record executive told Perth radio on Friday he was not a big fan of Delta as an artist.</p> <p>Michael Gudinski, a veteran of the Australian music industry said: “Look, I'm not the biggest Delta Goodrem fan, I must admit.”</p> <p>His comments answered a question about the<span> </span><em>Music From The Home Front </em>charity concert, which he had a large part in organising.</p> <p>Delta had performed in the concert, but Michael admitted he found that her “COVID performance” in the One World: Together At Home concert  “of hers lacked lustre.”</p> <p>“I'm not big on celebrities, I'm being honest here,” he added.  </p> <p>On Twitter, trolls have taken aim at Goodrem for her vibrant personality on <em>The Voice. </em></p> <p>"<span>Delta Goodrem is f------ annoying," one fan tweeted.</span></p> <p><span>Another another wrote: "Delta, still insufferable."</span></p> <p>"You just KNOW Delta was one of those annoying theatre kids who breaks into song every five minutes...
