Michael Schumacher’s son gives rare interview about his father

Michael Schumacher's son has shared a rare insight into his life after his dad's devastating skiing accident.

Mick Schumacher, who was only 14 at the time of his dad’s accident, pursued his dream of reaching F1 without his father's guidance, and has spoken about how much his dad father continued to inspire him.

In the new book Inside Mercedes F1 written by Matt Whyman, the author had unrestricted access to the team, with the book including a conversation with Mick about his father’s influence.

The 25-year-old, who became a reserve driver for Mercedes in 2023, told Whyman, “I was a crazy kid — everything my dad did, I did."

“He was really supportive and a lot of fun, but could also be challenging. One time in a karting race I braked very late going into a corner and gained a lot of time."

“When I told him about it, he said, ‘Yes, but you should have braked like that in every corner!’."

“Whenever he felt like I was not taking it seriously, he would say, ‘Mick, would you rather go and play football with your friends? If so, we do not need to do all of this’."

“I insisted that I wanted to race and he said, ‘Okay, then let’s do it properly’. So we started doing more European karting and I was getting better.”

Mick later explained that he learned “a lot of technical points” from his dad that he “still uses today”, adding, “I started racing in the Formula classes the year after the accident and from that point onwards, I had to find my own feet."

“I started karting aged three. I was six when I first went scuba diving. Aged 10 I was skydiving."

“My dad was always very open to me trying out whatever I wanted to do and racing is all I wanted to do, because I enjoyed it the most.”

Olympic champion inducted to Sport Australia Hall of Fame

Olympic gold medallist Sally Pearson and surfing legend Mick Fanning have joined the most elite group of Australian sportspeople, after being inducted to the Sport Australia Hall of Fame (SAHOF).

Pearson is one of only nine Australian women to win an Olympic track and field gold medal, winning her first gold in London 2012. She won a silver medal in 2008 for the 100m hurdles, and has World Championship success in 2011 and 2017.

She is also the first Australian to be named World Athlete of the year, and won the SAHOF’s “The Don” Award twice.

Pearson said it was “surreal” to be included in such esteemed company, including the likes of Cathy Freeman, her childhood hero.

“I don’t think it’s really sunk in. It’s so surreal. It feels like it just happens to people you see on TV,” she said.

“I still feel like I’m watching the Sydney Olympics and watching Cathy Freeman run. When Steve Hooker won gold in Beijing I was sitting on the sidelines.

“Even though I won silver, I was thinking, this is really cool. I’m watching this person, this athlete, just doing amazing things. It’s a bizarre feeling that I’m one of those people now.”

Surfing legend Mick Fanning, who is already a member of the World Surfers’ Hall of Fame and Australian Surfing Hall of Fame and said he was pretty “flabbergasted” to be elevated into the SAHOF.

“Australia produces so many incredible sporting stars and to be honoured as one of those, among the greats, I’m pretty flabbergasted, to be honest,” he said.

“It’s not something that we ever look for when we’re doing our sport, but to be acknowledged later in life is very special and I’m very honoured to be able to share it with people who have supported me.

“I wasn’t the most talented person, I wasn’t the most gifted, I didn’t have the most money or anything like that, but I just gave it my all.’’

Fanning enters as a three-time world champion for surfing.

Motorsport great Mark Skaife, former Kookaburras’ captain Mark Knowles, lawn bowls trailblazer Karen Murphy and dual-sport Paralympics champion Liesl Tesch are some of the other 2024 inductees.

Image: Colorsport/ Shutterstock Editorial

Michael Schumacher attends first 'public' event since accident

Michael Schumacher has reportedly attended his daughter's wedding, making this his first public appearance in 11 years.

Gina Schumacher tied the knot with Iain Bethke at the family’s luxury villa in Mallorca over the weekend, and while Michael's attendance was previously unknown, several outlets have reported that he attended the special event.

The Formula 1 icon's wife, Corinna, has kept his condition private since his tragic skiing accident in 2013, with only an extremely small inner circle of people allowed to see him, therefore this marks the first time that Michael has been 'seen' by extended friends and family.

The Daily Mail reported that privacy was extremely tight at the event, with wedding guests required to leave their phones at the front door upon arrival.

The family also reportedly looked at hiring a large security team to keep photographers away.

The success of the event has reportedly raised hopes that the family will consider future opportunities for the Ferrari icon to be seen in public, with more people reportedly being let into the 'inner circle'.

Michael's son Mick, who has been dating 23-year-old Danish model Laila Hasanovic for two years, is reportedly engaged to her, and in January it was reported that she had been given approval to visit the F1 legend.

Updates on the former racer's health have been few and far between.

Late last year, Schumacher's former boss at Ferrari and close friend Jean Todt revealed: "He is simply not the Michael he used to be. He is different, and is wonderfully guided by his wife and children who protect him. His life is different now, and I have the privilege of sharing moments with him. That's all there is to say."

Corinna also spoke publicly about the accident and her decision to keep Michael's condition private in a 2021 Netflix documentary.

"'Private is private’, as he always said. It’s very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible,” she said.

“Michael always protected us and now we are protecting Michael. What he really didn’t like was the press, the people, all the hype around him. That’s not what he wanted. He wanted to do the sport," she continued.

In the documentary she also said: “I miss Michael every day.

“But it is not just me who misses him. It’s the children, the family, his father, everyone around him. I mean, everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here.

“Different, but he’s here, and that gives us strength. We’re together. We live together at home.”

Michael reportedly moved from his Swiss home to the exclusive Spanish villa where Gina's wedding was held in September 2020 according to the Spanish press.

According to The Sun, Michael spent much of his recent life at the $50 million villa, which is believed to have been adapted allowing a team of doctors and nurses to provide round-the-clock care.

Image: Instagram

Michael Schumacher’s family's huge legal victory

Michael Schumacher's family are celebrating a big win against a German magazine, after they published what they claimed was an "exclusive interview" but was actually AI-generated.

The family have received a compensation payment of 200,000 euros ($327,065 AUD) more than a year after the magazine printed the fake interview with the Formula One legend.

In April 2023, Schumacher appeared on the front cover of German publication Die Aktuelle under the headline, “Michael Schumacher, the first interview”.

The publishers left a very small hint on the page that the article wasn't real, although adding that the interview “sounded deceptively real”.

The article seemed to be a real interview, featuring artificial "quotes" from Schumacher about his health and his family.

However, Schumacher has famously not been seen publicly since his ill-fated skiing accident in the French alps in December 2013, and his health battle has been kept intensely private by his family.

But the article appeared to say otherwise, with one of there fake quotes reading, "I can, with the help of my team, actually stand by myself and even slowly walk a few steps.”

“My wife and my children were a blessing to me and without them I would not have managed it. Naturally they are also very sad, how it has all happened."

“They support me and are standing firmly at my side.”

A spokesperson for the Schumacher family confirmed to Reuters the $327,065 judgement had been made against Funke Mediengruppe, the owners of the magazine.

Funke Mediengruppe apologised to the family in the aftermath of the article and the editor of Die Aktuelle was sacked two days after it was published.

Image credits: Attila Kisbenedek/EPA & HANNIBAL HANSCHKE/EPA-EFE / Shutterstock Editorial

An exceptional moment, for watch and F1 enthusiasts alike.

“We are looking forward to meeting with passionate collectors during our international exhibitions and the auction on 13 May in Geneva.”

One of the other watches going up for auction is an Audemars Piguet watch which features the Ferrari emblem, Schumacher’s helmet design, symbols representing his seven titles and an engraved message, which read: “Xmas 2004 — Jean Todt for my friend Michael Schumacher."

The watch was given to him by Todt and is expected to sell for between $250,000 and $425,000.

The auction is another financial move by Corinna, who reportedly meets with a small group of financial advisers about three or four times a year to make decisions about the family's sales and investments.

Ever since the accident Corinna has also been protecting her husband's privacy, with no one outside of Schumacher's inner circle knowing what happened to the F1 legend.

Image: Getty/ Christie's

Mick Fanning breaks silence over brother's tragic death

Australian surfing legend Mick Fanning has been plunged into mourning once again as he copes with the loss of his third brother, Edward, in Madagascar. The news adds another layer of sorrow to Fanning's already tumultuous journey, marked by personal tragedies and triumphs both in and out of the water.

Mick Fanning, a three-time world champion, has endured more than his fair share of trials. The devastating loss of his two other brothers, Pete and Sean, in 2015 and 1998 respectively, left indelible scars on the Fanning family. Yet, amidst the grief, Mick himself faced a near-fatal encounter when he survived a harrowing shark attack in July 2015. This traumatic event prompted him to take a hiatus from the competitive circuit the following year, highlighting the profound impact it had on his life and career.

Taking to Instagram to share his grief, Fanning delivered a wonderful tribute to his late brother, reminiscing about their shared love for surfing.

"Love you my brother," Mick wrote. "You taught me so much over the years about everything that life could deal up. The good and the bad you were my teacher. You introduced us all to surfing, the joy and freedom of riding a wave. With out you I’m not sure what the world would of made of me so Thank you 🙏🏼

"Ed you had the biggest heart and were too loyal for your own good. Always sticking up for the underdog and caring for those who needed help. You gave everyone everything you had, and if you didn’t have it you’d still give it to them. You made your friends feel like super heroes and gave so many people the funniest memories that will last a life time.

"I know at times you found it hard to find your happy place. It warms my heart to know you found it these last few years. To hear the excitement in your voice each time we talked filled me with hope.

"I wish you could accept all the love people would give you. You weren’t perfect but no one wanted you to be. We just loved Ed. The Larikin who would throw a Shaka in every photo and would scream yeeeeew at the top of his lungs. As you dance down that final road into that eternal sunset please know we all love you mate. 🤙🏼🤙🏼 YEEEEEEEEEWWW HAHA🤙🏼🤙🏼

Thank you to all the family and friends that have shown us love and supported us during this difficult time. And thank you to Ed’s family and friends in Madagascar that showed him happiness is real. Much love."

Tributes have since poured in from friends and fellow surfers, as Coolangatta bodyboarder Stevie Maher, a close friend of Edward, took to social media to express his grief and extend his condolences to the Fanning family. "Firstly, I want to send my condolences to the Fanning family… My heart is broken to hear the passing of my best mate," Maher wrote.
Australian surfing legend Mick Fanning has been struck by yet another devastating loss in his family. Reports have emerged confirming the passing of Fanning’s brother, Edward, who was in his 40s at the time of his death. This tragic event adds to the already heavy burden of grief that Fanning has endured over the years.

The Fanning family has faced multiple heartbreaking losses in the past. In 2015, Mick lost his older brother Peter at the age of 43. Prior to that, in 1998, another of Mick’s brothers, Sean, tragically passed away in a car accident at the young age of 20.

News of Edward’s passing came through a heartfelt message from Stevie Maher, a close friend of Edward and a prominent bodyboarder from Coolangatta.

Maher took to Facebook to express his condolences and share his grief with the Fanning family. In his poignant post, Maher fondly reminisced about the cherished moments he shared with Edward:

"Firstly I want to send my condolences to the Fanning family … mum Liz, dad John, sister Rachel and brother Mick,” Maher wrote. “My heart is broken to hear the passing of my best mate. I enjoyed and had so many amazing times with you Eddie. You were in my wedding party, had so many epic times together in Indo and we were just best mates. I’m goin’ to miss you Eddie and now you rest in peace.”

Edward, who had been working at a surf camp in Madagascar, leaves behind a legacy of friendship, adventure and camaraderie. His presence will be deeply missed by all those who knew him, especially by his grieving family and closest friends.

As the world mourns alongside Mick Fanning, we extend our deepest condolences to him and his family, hoping they find solace and strength in each other's love and the cherished memories they hold dear.

Images: Facebook / Instagram

"Roo-jitsu": Former cop fends off 2m-tall kangaroo trying to drown his dog

In an unusual and somewhat comical turn of events, a former Victorian police officer, Mick Moloney, recently found himself in a rather unexpected altercation with a kangaroo while out walking his dogs near the Murray River.

The story, as bizarre as it sounds, unfolded last Sunday when Moloney's peaceful stroll took a dramatic twist, involving an agitated kangaroo, one of his beloved dogs, and an heroic rescue mission.

Moloney, a resident of Mildura, was no stranger to the area and had often enjoyed leisurely walks along the scenic Murray River with his canine companions. On this particular day, his dogs were noticeably quieter than usual as they strolled by the water's edge. It wasn't until "Hutchy", one of Moloney's dogs, went missing that he began to sense something was amiss.

Describing his dogs as "always in the water," the former policeman began to suspect that the tranquil riverbanks might be harbouring an unexpected visitor. And his suspicions were soon confirmed when he laid eyes on an agitated kangaroo standing in the river, his arms submerged, and his gaze locked onto Moloney.

What unfolded next was an extraordinary encounter between man and marsupial, captured on camera and later shared widely online. In the video, Moloney can be heard demanding that the kangaroo release Hutchy from its grip.

Despite attempts to scare the kangaroo away, the situation escalated as the roo retaliated by striking Moloney and sending his phone plunging into the water. This unexpected punch-up left Moloney with a few scratches and a sore forearm, but both he and Hutchy ultimately made it safely to the riverbank.

Moloney shared the video on his Facebook page, where it quickly went viral, garnering hundreds of shares and reactions. The bizarre incident even led to some humorous commentary, with people joking about "roo-jitsu" and the unexpected martial arts showdown with the kangaroo.

Moloney, who is a mixed martial arts and Brazilian jiu-jitsu teacher, emphasised that he did not intend to be cruel to the kangaroo, highlighting his love for animals. Despite the unexpected turn of events, he expressed that he has no plans to change his walking route along the river, suggesting that he and his dogs will continue using their favourite walking spot.

As Moloney playfully put it, "My tussling with roo days are pretty much done though, cause that thing was strong. Let's just call it a draw." The bizarre incident serves as a reminder that encounters with wildlife can take unexpected turns, even in the most picturesque of settings, and that sometimes, a little humour can help us cope with life's quirks and oddities.

Images: Tiktok

F1 caller faces termination over "abhorrent" Schumacher comment

A Formula One pundit recently found himself issuing an apology for an unfortunate slip of the tongue during a live TV broadcast, where he inadvertently made an insensitive remark about the legendary Michael Schumacher. The incident unfolded in the aftermath of the Japanese Grand Prix during a post-race discussion on Spanish television, as reported by The Sun.

Antonio Lobato, the pundit in question, raised Schumacher's name during the discussion. Regrettably, his comment quickly made its way online, inciting outrage among fans due to its insensitivity toward the Formula One icon's ongoing health struggles.

In the clip in question, one of Lobato's fellow broadcaster quipped to him in Spanish, "Let Adrian Newey (Red Bull's chief technical officer) be shaking because Antonio Lobato is coming."

Lobato, perhaps in an attempt at humour in the moment, shot back, "Let Michael be shaking! Well... not Michael, he cannot shake."

Following this exchange, the pundits shared a laugh with their colleagues, Noemi de Miguel, Pedro de la Rosa, and Toni Cuquerella.

The incident provoked a strong backlash from viewers, with many demanding that Lobato apologise to Michael Schumacher's family. Some even called for his removal from DAZN, the broadcasting platform. One individual on X (formerly Twitter) remarked, "An apology would be the minimum, a sign of decency. You don't disrespect ANYONE that way, especially when thousands of people are watching you. Journalism in Spain has a very bright present and future with people like this."

Another comment read, "Using someone's medical condition as the punchline of a joke is unacceptable and abhorrent. Michael is beloved and respected in this sport, and [Lobato] doesn't deserve the platform he is given."

Subsequently, Lobato released an apology video on X, which has since garnered over five million views. In the five-minute video, he attempted to explain the "accident" while justifying his actions. Lobato stated in Spanish, "I made a mistake without any bad intentions. It was simply a mistake of pure clumsiness, of pure inability to express myself correctly, maybe because of too many hours up, jet lag in Madrid, or whatever – which is not an excuse for those of you who didn't see it."

He went on to clarify that he never intended to make a joke or mock Michael Schumacher and that anyone who knew him would understand this.

Lobato acknowledged his error, saying, "I think that everyone who knows me and knows what I'm like knows perfectly well that I would never make a joke about something like that. Never, but I was clumsy." He admitted that he had realised his mistake instantly after making the comment.

He also emphasised his deep regret, stating, "So the only thing I have to do, I think it's fundamental, is to apologise to all those who felt offended by that phrase yesterday. I really, really mean it. It was not my intention to say it to laugh, nor to make any kind of joke with Michael, whom I knew, whom I admire, and whom I think is a reference and who I think was quite unlucky."

Creo que es necesario dar explicaciones y reconocer que me he equivocado. Por favor, escuchad mi vídeo. Es un poco largo, pero creo que necesario. pic.twitter.com/89QlCMws2v

— Antonio Lobato (@alobatof1) September 25, 2023

Images: Twitter (X) / Netflix

"Without hope": Close friend shares sad Schumacher update

It has been a decade since the tragic skiing accident that left Formula 1 racing legend Michael Schumacher with life-threatening injuries, and the most recent update on his condition paints a decidedly sombre picture.

Renowned motorsport journalist Roger Benoit, a close friend of Schumacher, recently conveyed a disheartening assessment, describing Schumacher's situation as "a case without hope" in an interview with the Swiss newspaper Blick.

Schumacher's catastrophic incident occurred in December 2013 when he struck his head on a rock while skiing in the French Alps, resulting in severe brain damage. Despite wearing a helmet and skiing with his son Mick, Schumacher's life took a tragic turn. He spent 250 days in a medically-induced coma before finally returning home.

Since then, updates on Schumacher's condition have been exceptionally scarce, primarily due to the steadfast commitment of those close to him to protect his privacy.

In his recent interview, when pressed for a specific update on Schumacher's condition, Benoit offered these bleak words: "This sentence says everything about how (Michael) has been doing for over 3500 days. A case without hope."

In 2021, Schumacher's wife, Corinna, broke her silence and spoke about the accident for the first time in eight years during a Netflix documentary. She shared: "Michael is here. Different, but he's here, and that gives us strength, I find. We're together. We live together at home. We do therapy. We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he's comfortable. And to simply make him feel our family, our bond. And no matter what, I will do everything I can. We all will."

Now 54 years old, Michael Schumacher has not been seen in public for a decade. His absence has left a void in the world of Formula 1, where he was a legendary figure, having clinched the Drivers' World Championships seven times, a record tied with Lewis Hamilton for the most titles in history. Schumacher's impressive 91 career Grand Prix wins rank second only to Hamilton's 103 victories.

Image: Netflix

Mick Jagger's daughter arrested

The daughter of the Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has been arrested in Spain following a hostile altercation with police.

Jade Jagger, 51, has being accused of going on a drunken tirade and allegedly assaulting several national police officers in Ibiza, Spain, according to reports by Page Six.

The reports claim that Jagger became "very aggressive and violent" when police were called to help mediate an altercation she was involved in at a restaurant.

Jade and one of her friends involved in the confrontation were reportedly under the influence of alcohol or "some type of substance".

Before the police were called, the British jewellery designer had a disagreement with restaurant staff, while her male companion began allegedly “shouting, threatening and insulting” them.

The police then arrived at the restaurant to defuse the situation, where Jade's friend "pounced" on the officers, while Jade was allegedly heard shouting “stupid police” and other rude remarks.

It is unclear if Jade remains in police custody, but a local Spanish outlet states she is expected to be “brought to justice” at some point on Friday.

Jade is one of Mick’s eight children. She is his only child with ex-wife Bianca Jagger.

The Rolling Stones frontman also shares daughter Karis, 52, with actress Marsha Hunt; daughters Elizabeth, 39, and Georgia May, 31, and sons James, 37, and Gabriel, 25, with ex-wife Jerri Hall; son Lucas, 24, with model Luciana Morad Gimenez; and son Deveraux, 6, with girlfriend Melanie Hamrick.

Richard Wilkins names and shames worst celeb interviews

Entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins has revealed some of the more challenging celebrities he’s dealt with in an interview.

Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall made the top of the list.

Wilkins shared in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald that the English singer, 62, is “probably the rudest person” he’d ever interviewed.

Wilkins said he had been asked to present Hucknall with a gold record at a record company function while Simply Red were touring Australia.

“Shook his hand, everything went all right,” Wilkins said.

The problem came the following day, when Wilkins, who was then working for MTV Australia, arrived at the since-demolished Sydney Entertainment Centre to interview Hucknall ahead of Simply Red’s concert that evening.

“I said, ‘G’day Mick’, held out my hand. He says, ‘I shook your hand last night, I don’t need to do it again’,” Wilkins revealed.

“He’s subsequently divulged that he used to hit it pretty hard back in the day, so I don’t know whether he was on good stuff the night before. I remember my boss saying to me that day, ‘If anyone ever treats you like that again, just walk out the door’.”

British actor Hugh Grant made the cut on Wilkins’ list, “I’ve always got on OK with Hugh Grant, but he can be very prickly,” he explained.

“And he’ll quite willingly tell you that the characters he plays are much nicer than the person he actually is. I MCed a publicity tour that he and Liz Hurley did. They were quite difficult to work with. He can be a prickly one.”

Not mentioned in the interview was Wilkins’ 2003 interview with music icon Prince, which he had previously named as the worst celebrity interview in his 2011 memoir Black Ties, Red Carpets, Green Rooms.

Wilkins went backstage at Prince’s Melbourne show to interview him and recalled he was told by Prince’s entourage that the exchange could only proceed if Wilkins also interviewed every member of Prince’s band, and included them in the TV segment.

He reluctantly accepted, but later found the band members weren’t too keen on a chat, including Prince.

“Ah f**k! This was going to be an unmitigated disaster and total embarrassment,” Wilkins wrote of the awkward encounter.

Schumacher’s family suing German magazine over fake interview

Michael Schumacher’s family is preparing to take legal action against German tabloid magazine Die Aktuelle, for publishing an AI-generated “interview” with the star.

The publication has been slammed for using Michael’s face on their April 15 front cover, promoting the piece as “the first interview” since the star’s skiing accident in December 2013.

“No meagre, nebulous half-sentences from friends. But answers from him! By Michael Schumacher, 54!” read the text in the magazine.

“It sounded deceptively real,” they added in the strapline, which was the only indicator that the piece was fake.

The “interview” included quotes that insensitively described Schumacher’s recovery, following the accident where he suffered a serious brain injury.

“I was so badly injured that I lay for months in a kind of artificial coma, because otherwise my body couldn’t have dealt with it all,” the quote read.

“I’ve had a tough time but the hospital team has managed to bring me back to my family,” they added.

It was only at the end of the article that the publication revealed that they used Character.ai, an AI chatbot, to create the interview.

A spokesperson for Schumachers confirmed their intention to take legal action against Die Aktuelle to Reuters and ESPN.

This isn’t the first time Schumacher’s family have taken action against Die Aktuelle.

In 2015, Michael’s wife, Corinna Schumacher filed a lawsuit against the magazine after they used Corinna’s picture with the headline: “Corinna Schumacher – a new love makes her happy.”

The story was actually about their daughter, Gina, but the lawsuit was dismissed.

Image: Getty Images

Sad update on Schumacher's wife

Eddie Jordan, former F1 boss and friend of the Schumachers, has opened up about how Corinna Schumacher has lived “like a prisoner” since her husband’s 2013 ski accident.

Corinna, who has been declared “Michael’s guardian angel” on more than one occasion, has been battling for an entire decade to uphold his wish for privacy when it comes to his health and his ongoing recovery.

It is reported that Corinna handles the Schumacher family’s affairs, and it’s a rare occasion when she does speak about her husband and family, despite overwhelming interest in how Michael is doing - all while helping son Mick launch his own career in Formula 1.

And now, Eddie Jordan - who was a key player in Michael’s 1991 F1 experience - has spoken up about the reality of Corinna’s situation, admitting in an interview with The Sun Online that she is living “like a prisoner”.

"This was the most horrific situation for Mick and Corinna," he said. “It's been nearly ten years now and Corinna has not been able to go to a party, to lunch or this or that, she's like a prisoner because everyone would want to talk to her about Michael when she doesn't need reminding of it every minute."

He confessed that Corinna once denied him a visit with his friend, as she had imposed a kind of “family only” rule when it came to seeing Michael after the 2013 incident. Eddie wasn’t offended, instead supporting her decision, aware that the rule had come from a place of love, and that he knows her “very well, and a long time before Michael Schumacher.”

However, there is apparently one individual who is allowed to stop by - Jean Todt, F1 chief and former boss for Ferrari.

"She's a lovely girl,” he continued, “and I knew her when she married Michael so there is a long history of good relations.

"I made an effort to go see Michael in the early days and Corinna refused, and rightfully so because too many people wanted to go see him.

"Jean Todt was given the privilege to go see him because of how close they were from their time together at Ferrari which is completely understandable.

"I was not able to go see Michael and they said 'we love you Eddie and we've been involved with you for a very long time, but we do need privacy and safeguard of Michael'."

This isn’t the first time that Eddie has spoken out about his friends, having explained early in 2023 that the 54-year-old Michael was “there, but not there.”

And Corinna has revealed something similar herself, as seen in the documentary Schumacher, where she said, “I miss Michael every day. But it's not just me who misses him.

"It's the children, the family, his father, everyone around him.

"I mean, everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here. Different, but he's here and that gives us strength … we try to carry on a family as Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives.

“'Private is private', as he always said. It is very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible.

"Michael always protected us, and now we are protecting Michael."

Images: Getty
