"Inhumane" sign at airport shocks travellers

<p>A sign at a New Zealand airport has sparked outrage among travellers, with the policy controlling people's emotional farewells. </p> <p>Photos of the sign at Dunedin Airport have gone viral, with the sign reading, "Max. hug time 3 minutes. For fonder farewells please use the car park,” in an attempt to combat airport traffic congestion. </p> <p>Despite the reasons behind the unusual signage, some users on Facebook slamming the “inhumane” limit on travellers’ allotted time to say goodbye to loved ones.</p> <p>“You can’t put a time limit on hugs! that’s inhumane,” one person wrote.</p> <p>Another person chimed in, “I love it. It shows warmth and compassion. My local airport it would be ‘you can’t stop there’ – there’s a £100 fine if you stop and a minimum £5.00 to drop someone off in the drop-off zone. I love Nice airport – they have ‘Kiss and Fly.’”</p> <p>Others also joined in poking fun at the strange new rule, with one person writing, “I can see the airport worker now … 2:56, 2:57, 2:58, 2:59 OK time to break it up!”</p> <p>Another joked, “In America, they don’t even want you to stop. Just come to a slow roll and push your passenger out.”</p> <p>The airport's CEO Daniel De Bono said that it redesigned its drop-off zone to improve safety and congestion around the terminal, telling New Zealand’s <em>RNZ</em> radio the change was made due to space considerations.</p> <p>He said, “There’s only so much space we have in that drop-off area and too many people are spending too much time on their fonder farewells in the drop-off area. There’s no space for others.”</p> <p>De Bono then citied a study that suggests a measly 20-second hug is enough to get the oxytocin and serotonin release people get from hugging, saying, “We’re not here to tell people how long they should hug for. It’s more a message of, ‘Please move onwards.’ If you’re going to spend however long, sit in the car park. New $1m reward for cold case murder of three children

<p>A new $1 million reward is being offered for information about each of the murders of three First Nations children around 34 years ago. </p> <p>Four-year-old Evelyn Greenup, Clinton Speedy-Duroux, 16, and Colleen Walker-Craig, 16, disappeared from Bowraville, a town in northern NSW over a five-month period from September 1990. </p> <p>Evelyn and Clinton's remains were found in nearby bushland, but Colleen's have never been found. </p> <p>The murders were initially investigated separately before being linked by the homicide squad. </p> <p>Now, after various appeals over the decades, NSW Police have issued a re-appeal for information into the murders, with a particular focus on locating the remains of Colleen.</p> <p>“A $1 million reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each of the children’s murder remains in place, as well as for information leading to the location and recovery of Colleen’s remains,” NSW Police said on Monday.</p> <p>Detectives are also going to be spending the week in Bowraville to  speak to locals who may have information about the children's deaths. </p> <p>A man, who can't be named for legal reasons, was acquitted of Clinton's murder in 1994, and Evelyn's murder in 2006. </p> <p>The case was the subject of two police investigations, multiple trials, a coronial inquest, and a parliamentary inquiry. </p> <p>In 2018, the government tried to convince the NSW court of criminal appeal that there was fresh and compelling evidence – related to the disappearance of Colleen – in attempt to overturn the two acquittals and instead have a new single trial on three murder charges. </p> <p>However, the court refused to grant special leave to the NSW government to appeal against the decision. </p> <p>In 2019, hundreds protested in front of the gates of the Court of Appeal when a retrial was denied. </p> <p><em>Images: 7pm TV News NSW/ ABC News</em></p>

Samantha Armytage hints at major career news

<p>Samantha Armytage has hinted at a major change, following reports that the former <em>Seven</em> star has joined rival network <em>Nine</em>. </p> <p><span style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Open Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">The former <em>Farmer Wants a Wife</em> host </span>teased her new gig as she was being interviewed by <em>The Daily Telegraph </em>at The Everest in Sydney over the weekend. </p> <p>Last week, it was reported that Armytage had signed a deal with Nine to host the Australian version of the dating show <em>The Golden Bachelor</em> in the coming year. </p> <p>The publication also revealed that the deal is believed to be worth a significant amount, with insiders confirming the news to them. </p> <p>When asked whether she had signed with <em>Nine</em>, the TV veteran remained coy, saying with a smile: "Look, watch this space. Exciting times ahead."</p> <p>The news reportedly comes after months of negotiation between the TV star and her new network. </p> <p>"There was a bit of back and forth, but I believe the contract has been signed" an insider told <em>The Daily Telegraph</em> last week.</p> <p>The Golden Bachelor is a spin-off of <em>The Bachelor</em> series, but the contestants of the show are senior citizens instead. </p> <p>"This is a smart move for Sam and Nine. "Very Clark Kent": Karl Stefanovic debuts new look

<p>Karl Stefanovic has surprised viewers and his co-host with a new look this morning while reading the latest breaking news stories on the <em>Today</em> show. </p> <p>The breakfast TV host opened the show as usual alongside co-host Sarah Abo, except there was one noticeable difference to his usual style, the 50-year-old wearing a pair of  black-framed reading glasses.</p> <p>"I'm liking the specs Karl, they suit you," Abo said.</p> <p>"They're giving big Clark Kent vibes."</p> <p>Stefanovic revealed the reason why he had to debut this new look. </p> <p>"Yeah I'm getting really old now, really old," he laughed.</p> <p>While he previously shared a photo of himself wearing glasses at two <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DAMvhsczk1i/?hl=en&img_index=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">charity events</a> on September 22, this is the first time Stefanovic has worn them during his breakfast show. </p> <p><em>Images: Today</em></p>

New report reveals huge amount of super needed to retire

<p>Australians will need nearly $600,000 in their superannuation to retire comfortably, according to a new report. </p> <p>The Association of Superannuation Funds (ASFA) Retirement Standard report found that home-owning singles would need $595,000 to retire at 67 with a “comfortable” lifestyle, while a home-owning couple in relatively good health would need $690,000.</p> <p>This means that home-owning couples would need $73,337 per year while home-owning singles would need  $52,085 for a comfortable lifestyle. </p> <p>Their analysis also found that for a more modest lifestyle, a superannuation balance of $100,000 is needed for both singles or couples. </p> <p>Both budgets assume the retirees own their homes and are relatively healthy. </p> <p>On Wednesday, financial commentator Betsy Westcott told <em>Sunrise</em> that Aussies needed to start thinking about retirement earlier to make the most of their savings. </p> <p>“The longer that you contribute to super and pay attention it to it, the less you have to do to create that really golden retirement because age is your superpower,” Westcott said.</p> <p>“If you’re not paying attention to your super, which, let’s be honest, most of us aren’t, you could be missing out on some really big gains (to the overall balance).”</p> <p>She added that most people retired closer to 65 than 67 and ended up with a lot less superannuation than the benchmark. </p> <p>While the ASFA retirement standard took into account  “everyday spending,” Wescott said it did not factor in expenses like helping children buy a home, or buying into a retirement village.</p> <p>She also stressed that these benchmarks were just a guide saying:  "Personal finance is just that, it is personal.”</p> <p>“Your idea of a golden retirement will look different to your neighbour’s, your cousin’s, your best friend’s."</p> <p><em>Image: Shutterstock</em></p>

"No consideration": Tough new penalties introduced for "thoughtless" drivers

<p>One Australian state is set to introduce a new law to enforce harsher penalties on "thoughtless" drivers who endanger the lives of children.</p> <p>South Australian independent Frank Pangallo has proposed legislation that would see prison terms of up to three years and fines of up to $5,000 for drivers found guilty of aggravated driving offences while children under 16 are present.</p> <p>“Like most people in the community, I am deeply alarmed at the number of thoughtless people who have no qualms about getting behind the wheel of a car and drive like a moron while there are kids in the car,” Mr Pangallo <a href="https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/independent-mlc-frank-pangallo-to-introduce-bill-would-impose-tougher-penalties-on-drivers-caught-speeding-drink-driving-with-children-in-the-car/news-story/343d31f4cb6c249a644ac2d45748daef" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" data-tgev="event119" data-tgev-container="bodylink" data-tgev-order="343d31f4cb6c249a644ac2d45748daef" data-tgev-label="news" data-tgev-metric="ev">told </a><em><a href="https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/independent-mlc-frank-pangallo-to-introduce-bill-would-impose-tougher-penalties-on-drivers-caught-speeding-drink-driving-with-children-in-the-car/news-story/343d31f4cb6c249a644ac2d45748daef" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" data-tgev="event119" data-tgev-container="bodylink" data-tgev-order="343d31f4cb6c249a644ac2d45748daef" data-tgev-label="news" data-tgev-metric="ev">the Advertiser</a></em>.</p> <p>“Not only are they putting their own lives at risk, but far more critically, the lives of innocent children in the vehicle."</p> <p>“I have spoken to a number of senior police who are astounded by the stupidity of these drivers who have absolutely no consideration for the dangers they are placing those children in.”</p> <p>Pangallo was prompted to urge the reforms after the state saw two horror crashes over the past weeks that have involved children. </p> <p>In one accident, an eight-year-old child was pulled from the wreckage of a vehicle and was lucky to survive, with the 40-year-old driver allegedly returning a positive breath test.</p> <p>“I would describe that driver as being an irresponsible moron,” Mr Pangallo said of the crash. “I hope they throw the book at that driver.”</p> <p>In another recent incident, a woman - who was pulled over for using her mobile phone while driving - allegedly blew six times the legal blood alcohol limit with two children under 16 years old in her car. </p> <p>South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas offered his support for tougher laws in a press conference, saying, “I think it is perfectly reasonable for the law to discriminate between offenders who have children in the car or not. China expert reveals new theory on why man scalded baby in park

<p>An expert on Chinese social issues has shed new light on the potential motive behind the attack on a baby in a Brisbane park. </p> <p>In August, nine-month-old Luka was enjoying Hanlon Park with his mother when the man poured boiling hot coffee on the infant before fleeing the scene. </p> <p>Police identified the attacker as a 33-year-old man from China, who travelled to his home country after the attack, evading capture by police. </p> <p>As many hypothesise about the <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/health/caring/alleged-motive-of-man-who-scalded-baby-revealed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">motive</a> behind the attack, Will Sterzel, a prominent critic of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), said the attack follows a trend of similar attacks in China. </p> <p>Sterzel, who lived in China for 14 years but left for America after the CCP criticised his vocalness over his frustration with the government, explained that the man's attack on baby Luka is reflective of his own social life and displeasure with state bureaucracy. </p> <p>"When his latest application for a visa was rejected, he did what so many in China do: lashed out and took revenge on society by attacking a child," Mr Sterzel said.</p> <p>"He even said to his friend that he wanted to take revenge on white people."</p> <p>According to Mr Sterzel, the phenomenon reflects a deep-seated frustration that some Chinese nationals feel about the living conditions under the ruling Communist Party.</p> <p>"What it boils down to at the root of it all is injustice," Mr Sterzel claimed. </p> <p>He went on to explain that China lacks government support - such as mental health services, public funds or charities - for those in situations of misfortune, prompting many people to lash out. </p> <p>"When you're down on your luck the government will not help you in China, there are no social programs and if your family isn't willing to float you you're done for," Mr Sterzel said.</p> <p>"There simply are no mental health facilities or systems in place to deal with mental health. So, when people snap and are at wit's end they have no recourse, they're not allowed to blame the government, they cannot strike or protest or petition or take action."</p> <p>"They have nowhere to turn and so they selfishly lash out at society trying to inflict as much damage as possible and in China children are the most precious and important part of society."</p> <p>Mr Sterzel explained that children in China are faced with a lot of responsibility, and are often forced to be providers for their entire family. </p> <p>"All that the entire family's future rides on how good a job the child gets," Mr Sterzel said.</p> <p>"So, by attacking and murdering young children these disgruntled cowards inflict huge damage to society disrupting the plans and livelihoods of multiple generations. The grandparents can no longer retire, the parents' lives are destroyed and China's already shrinking demographics get smaller."</p> <p>"They have inflicted maximum damage to society."</p> <p>Mr Sterzel stressed that "revenge against society" attacks were not cultural tradition, adding, "This is a problem that's continuing to grow in China and unfortunately get exported abroad."</p> <p><em>Image credits: Queensland Police / 9News</em></p>

Mick Jagger welcomes new grandchild

<p>Mick Jagger has become a grandpa again as his 32-year-old daughter, Georgia May, welcomed her first baby with boyfriend Cambryan Sedlick. </p> <p>"Our Son Dean Lee Jagger Sedlick was born September 30th," she announced on Instagram with a series of polaroid photos of the pair and their bub. </p> <p>"We are so in Love and happy and can't stop staring at him."</p> <p>Georgia first announced she was pregnant in June, sharing photos of her baby bump to Instagram.</p> <p>She also thanked her boyfriend for "being so incredible through everything and taking such good care of us".</p> <p>The photo was flooded with congratulatory messages from fellow celebrities including from <em>Daisy Jones & The Six</em> actress Suki Waterhouse and Meadow Walker, daughter of the late <em>Fast and Furious</em> actor Paul Walker.</p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; Clint Eastwood celebrates arrival of new granddaughter

<p>Clint Eastwood's youngest daughter, Morgan Eastwood, has welcomed her first child with husband Tanner Koopmans. </p> <p>The 27-year-old revealed that she'd given birth to a daughter named Cleo two weeks ago in an Instagram post shared over the weekend. </p> <p>"Two weeks with our Cleo," she captioned the post with a series of photos, giving fans their first look at her adorable baby girl. </p> <p>In the first photo, baby Cleo was swaddled in a blanket with a small smile on her face as she slept in the hospital crib. </p> <p>Another photo showed the new parents smiling down at their beautiful bub as they enjoyed a seaside stroll as a family. </p> <p>She included a few other shots of baby Cleo at home with her, Tanner and their beloved bulldog. </p> <p>Family and fans were quick to congratulate the couple. </p> <p>"She’s for real and our lives are already better! So happy for you! Chilling vision of missing family emerges

<p>A video filmed in New Zealand's west coast is the first "credible" sighting of a father and his kids who went missing three years ago. </p> <p>Tom Phillips along with his daughter Jayda, now 11, son Maverick, 9 and daughter Ember, 8, disappeared from the New Zealand town of Marokopa in December 2021. </p> <p>There have been hundreds of sightings of Phillips reported to police since then, with many of them unverified, and the children nowhere in sight.</p> <p>But now, new footage shot on the evening of October 3, showed all four of them marching through a grass field in Marokopa, in a single file with camouflage gear and heavy backpacks.</p> <p>The video, filmed by pig hunters, was handed to police and has since prompted a large-scale search of farmland in the area this week, which unfortunately failed to locate Phillips and his children. </p> <p>In the footage, the family seemed unaware they were being filmed from afar, with one of the witnesses describing them as "equipped for the bush". </p> <p>The children's mother, Catherine, has seen the video and instantly recognised her kids. </p> <p>“I’m so happy that they’re all there," she told the <em>New Zealand Herald</em>. </p> <p>"I’m so relieved to see all three of my babies. They’re all alive."</p> <p>The pig hunters who filmed the footage recalled their short encounter with the children. </p> <p>“The children asked: ‘Who else knows we’re here?’ And then they just kept on walking. They were all packed up, they had big packs on. I think the father sort of kept them moving,” Farmer John McOviney told the New Zealand Herald.</p> <p>In another interview with radio station <em>Newstalk ZB</em>, McOviney said that Phillips was carrying a large rifle. </p> <p>NZ Police Detective Inspector Andrew Saunders has also confirmed the sighting was being treated as "credible". </p> <p>"While nothing further of significance was located, investigators will now assess information gathered to determine any next steps," he said. </p> <p>"This is the first time all three of the children have been sighted, which is positive information, and we know it will be reassuring for the children's wider family."</p> <p>While police remain tight-lipped about what their next steps are, they said : "Our focus is very much on the safe return of Jayda, Maverick and Ember to their whānau [the Maori word for family] and we are doing all that we can to make that happen.”</p> <p>Phillips and his three children first went missing on September 11, 2021, and an arrest warrant was issued for Phillips shortly after their disappearance. </p> <p>He does not have legal custody over his children is alleged to have breached a custody order by taking them. New calls for Boomers to end housing crisis

<p>New research has called for Boomers to rent out their spare bedrooms in a bid to address the country's housing crisis. </p> <p>According to research from the Queensland University of Technology, there are more than 13 million spare bedrooms across the country, meaning 76 per cent of Aussie households have spare rooms. </p> <p>The report has called for older Australians to rent out their spare rooms to provide “short-term relief to both the rental and the cost of living crisis”.</p> <p>“If new housing stock is years away, then shifting the focus to existing housing may provide some short-term solutions,” the report states.</p> <p>The report also found that more than six million homes have one or two spare bedrooms, while one million homes have three or more spare bedrooms. </p> <p>They also encouraged the government to incentivise older Australians to open up their spare rooms to renters, to provide them some financial relief during the cost of living crisis. </p> <p>Currently, the Government hopes to build 1.2 million homes, but have welcomed further ideas to help relieve the cost of living crisis. </p> <p>“Meeting this ambitious target will certainly be a challenge and it won’t happen overnight, but it’s a challenge we have to meet in order to make housing more affordable," a government spokesman said.</p> <p>However, the Queensland University of Technology noted that the demand for housing is set to outstrip supply in Australia until at least 2029, based on the government's State of the Housing System report.</p> <p>“The housing crisis is a complex matter and new housing supply is years away, despite billions of dollars of government commitments,” the report states. </p> <p>“Millions of empty bedrooms exist and yet many older homeowners live in poverty rather than risk losing their pension or paying taxes by renting out a spare bedroom.”</p> <p>The report acknowledged that there may be barriers like concerns for elder abuse that may deter people from renting out their homes, "however, under the right circumstances, with appropriate support and education, such ‘house sharing’ arrangements could alleviate some of the current housing and cost of living issues."</p> <p>“There is an urgent need for further research to be undertaken to explore opportunities to incentivise, educate, support, and protect older Australians to open their homes and unlock existing housing stock for immediate use by those in need.”</p> <p>These findings follow PropTrack’s latest Housing Affordability Report that stated housing affordability in Australia has deteriorated to its “worst level on record” amid high mortgage rates and increasing home prices.</p> <p><em>Image: Shutterstock</em></p>

"20 years to life": Bali's brutal new law

<p>Major changers are coming into effect for foreigners in Bali. </p> <p>Indonesia's Department of Immigration has doubled down on its zero-tolerance approach to unruly tourists, as those found in breach of immigration laws or have overstayed their visas could be sentenced to life behind bars. </p> <p>Crimes that were previously punishable with sentences from six months to one year in prison are increasing to jail-time of up to 20 years, according to <em>The Bali Sun</em>. </p> <p>“Indonesia is a country that upholds the tourism sector, but comfort must be accompanied by order. We want foreign nationals who come to Indonesia to understand and follow the rules and norms that apply in this country,” Director General of Immigration Law and Human Rights Silmy Karim said, according to local newspaper <em>Nusa Bali</em>.</p> <p>“We also try to ensure that those who come are quality tourists, through strengthening intelligence co-operation and information exchange with other countries.”</p> <p>There will also be an increase in immigration checkpoint officers, patrol officers and investigators, and more mobile taskforces. </p> <p>The rules won't affect tourists who apply for temporary visas on arrival and leave with in the mandated 30-day period or extend their visa and leave within 60 days. </p> <p>The Indonesian government has recently cracked down on foreigners overstaying their welcome, deporting more than 400 people this year alone for violating immigration laws. </p> <p>Just last year, a dozen Australians were among more than 200 foreigners kicked out of Bali for abusing the visa system by doing illegal business or working in Bali. </p> <p>This follows the introduction of the tourist tax and the release of their tourist dos and don'ts list, as they attempt to monitor foreigners' activities. </p> <p><em>Image: </em><em>AsiaTravel / Shutterstock.com</em></p> <p> </p>

Breaking the silence on prostate cancer: man’s family legacy highlights importance of early detection

<p>James Murray, 55, an architect from Melbourne, always knew he was living with a genetic "time bomb." A fifth-generation prostate cancer sufferer, his family’s battle with the disease spans over 170 years. From his great-great-grandfather, who chronicled his symptoms in 1847, to his uncles and father who also faced the disease, prostate cancer has been a grim constant in his family.</p> <p>“My family has what's been called a ‘spectacular history’ with prostate cancer,” James reflects. “But that’s not the kind of thing you want to hear. My great-great-grandfather had it, though they couldn’t test for it back then. My grandfather died from it, my father got it, and both of his brothers had it as well. It’s been a constant in our family for generations.”</p> <p>James' great-great-grandfather, Robert William Felton Lathrop Murray, a soldier and the founder of the <em>Hobart Town Gazette</em>, documented his battle with the disease long before modern medicine could provide a diagnosis. Since then, generation after generation of Murrays has grappled with the same fate. </p> <p>For James, however, early detection was key. Diagnosed in February 2022, he underwent surgery just a few months later in May, removing what doctors described as an aggressive form of the disease. But his story, unlike his ancestors, had a different ending.</p> <p>“In a way, we’ve been cursed by prostate cancer," explains James. "But it’s also been a blessing because it made us all hyper-aware of the importance of early detection. My dad was incredibly diligent, and that saved his life. He made sure I was on top of my PSA testing from my mid-40s, and that’s how we caught it early for me.” </p> <p>Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) testing and early detection are now recognised as crucial, particularly for men with a family history of prostate cancer. Yet, dangerous myths surrounding prostate cancer testing continue to cost lives, warns Associate Professor Weranja Ranasinghe, Deputy Leader of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand’s (USANZ) GU-Oncology Special Advisory Group.</p> <p>“Many men believe that they need to have urinary symptoms to be concerned about prostate cancer,” explains Ranasinghe. “The reality is that most prostate cancers develop without any symptoms at all. Urinary symptoms are not reliable – most of these symptoms are caused by non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate but advanced cancer can also give you urinary symptoms. So it is important to get checked.”</p> <p>An even greater barrier, however, is the outdated belief that prostate cancer screening requires an invasive rectal exam. Ranasinghe stresses that this is no longer the case: “A simple PSA blood test, combined with advanced imaging like MRI, is now the standard approach. Many men are avoiding tests due to this outdated fear, but in the GP setting, a rectal exam is currently not required for detecting prostate cancer."</p> <p>With over 26,000 Australian men expected to be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year, the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ) is raising awareness during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month about the importance of early testing and debunking these misconceptions.</p> <p>Ranasinghe also points out that men with a strong family history should be particularly vigilant. “Men with female relatives who have had breast or ovarian cancer are also at an increased risk of prostate cancer due to the same genetic mutations. So we recommend that men with a strong family history get a PSA test at the age of 40, which is earlier than the recommended age.”</p> <p>For James Murray, the decision to undergo surgery quickly after his diagnosis proved life-saving. “When my PSA levels started rising in February 2022, I wasn’t shocked," he recalls. "I had always known this day would come. It wasn’t something I feared, but more something I was prepared for. I told myself, ‘Okay, it’s here, let’s deal with it,’ and I just focused on getting through the surgery as quickly as possible.”</p> <p>James feels fortunate compared to his uncles, whose diagnoses came much later in life, leading to more severe outcomes. His surgery went well, and he's had a quick recovery, returning to work and feeling grateful that they caught it early. That's why James is advocating for early PSA testing, particularly for men with a family history of prostate cancer. He plans to ensure his 19-year-old son is aware of the need for testing in the future.</p> <p>"We often see men wait until a friend or relative is diagnosed before thinking about getting a prostate cancer PSA test done," says Ranasinghe. "This reactive approach is dangerous. Men need to be proactive and take ownership of their prostate health and talk to their GPs about this, just like they would with cholesterol or other routine health checks."</p> <p>As prostate cancer awareness grows, James hopes his story will encourage others to get tested. Jelena Dokic shares exciting news

Aldi's surprise new business move

Buckingham Palace confirmed the joyous news, stating, “His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”</p> <p>This exciting chapter comes after Beatrice, 36, and property developer Mapelli Mozzi tied the knot in a charming private ceremony at the Royal Chapel of All Saints, Windsor, in July 2020. The couple welcomed their first child, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, on September 18, 2021, who is now three. Joel Creasey announces exciting personal news on air

<p>Radio host Joel Creasey has shared the exciting news that he and his partner are now engaged after being together for seven years.</p> <p>Creasey announced the news on his Instagram, also sharing the news with his co-hosts of the <em>Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel radio show</em> on Nova, recalling how his boyfriend, Jack Stratton-Smith, had surprised him with the proposal on their final night in Monopoli, southern Italy.</p> <p>“Well, you asked what happened on my trip to Italy … I did get engaged to the love of my life after seven and a half years,” Creasey told his co-hosts and listeners on Monday.</p> <p>“He finally popped the question! It was very last-minute, it was the day before we left, actually … It was just on a little rooftop and we had a couple of friends there, and I had no idea. Edwina Bartholomew's surprise return after cancer news

<p>In a heartwarming moment, beloved <em>Sunrise</em> presenter Edwina Bartholomew made her much-anticipated return to the breakfast show after <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/sunrise-star-announces-cancer-diagnosis-live-on-air" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sharing her cancer diagnosis</a> live on air earlier this month.</p> <p>On Friday, Bartholomew joined the team live from Melbourne as <em>Sunrise</em> geared up for the AFL Grand Final between the Sydney Swans and Brisbane Lions. Radiating positivity, she shared her excitement at being back on the show.</p> <p>"I’m so well rested," she beamed. "I’ve had a huge, gigantic warm embrace from <em>Sunrise </em>viewers, and I didn’t want to miss today."</p> <p>Bartholomew’s love for the AFL Grand Final and her <em>Sunrise</em> family brought her back to the desk, with her characteristic humour intact. “I wanted to be back in time, not just for the mini jaffles, but to see you all and be here for the wonderful week in Melbourne,” she quipped.</p> <p>Hosts Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington welcomed her back with open arms. “Good to have you back,” Barr said warmly, while Shirvington added, “Great to be back.”</p> <p>In early September, Bartholomew tearfully revealed to viewers that she had been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia after a routine blood test. Despite the diagnosis, her positive outlook has been inspiring. "It's a good kind of cancer, it can be treated with a daily tablet. If I take care of myself, I will be completely fine," she reassured viewers.</p> <p>Bartholomew has been spending time with her family, including husband Neil Varcoe and their two young children, Molly, 4, and Tom, 2. While she plans to ease back into work, she’s expected to appear only a few days a week.</p> <p>Her return brought a wave of support from viewers, who had sent well-wishes throughout her time off. Bartholomew expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of love. “I feel very lucky,” she said. Jamie Durie returns to Aussie TV with new show featuring his family

<p>Jamie Durie is set to return to Aussie TV screens with his new renovation show, <em>Growing Home</em>, and this time it will feature his young family. </p> <p>The international award-winning landscape designer and seven-time Logie-winning host of shows such as<em> Backyard Blitz</em>,<em> The Block</em> and many more, will showcase his skills through the process of building a sustainable and luxury dream home for, and with his family. </p> <p>“After 26 years making TV shows all over the world, this is the show I’ve always wanted to make. And if we’re creating a show around sustainability, then my family and I need to do it first and practise what we preach,” he said in an interview for <em>Better Homes and Gardens</em>.</p> <p>Durie has called this the biggest challenge of his career. </p> <p>It’s been “five long years of planning and researching the most eco-friendly partners, methods and technologies we can find, and we’re finally ready to build this house,” Durie said. </p> <p>Durie will film alongside his wife singer/songwriter Ameka Jane, who is equally committed to sharing real-life stories with the world, and creating a more authentic life. </p> <p>“I think there is a common misconception that ‘sustainable’ or ‘eco-friendly’ means that it’s complicated or that we have to compromise on style and function,” Jane said. </p> <p> “We want to show Australia how easy and accessible it is to create a green home on any scale. Small changes can make a big impact.
