Never say never: Ash Barty's surprising new career move

Ash Barty is set for a return to Wimbledon this year, but not in the way you'd expect.

The Aussie legend who retired from competitive tennis in 2022 at the age of 25, has been persistent about not returning to the court.

Since her retirement, she married her long-term partner Garry Kissick, and the pair welcomed their son Hayden in July 2023. She has also written some books and played a few golf tournaments around the world.

In November 2022, when promoting her memoir My Dream Time, Barty was asked if she’d ever consider a move into the commentary box, to which she replied: “No, never.”

But now, she is making her return into the spotlight, particularly the commentary box as she has been announced as part of the BBC’s team for Wimbledon.

“A host of Wimbledon champions will be joining the studio," BBC’s content boss Charlotte Moore said.

Barty will be joining Nick Kyrgios and former Aussie Wimbledon champ Pat Cash for the Summer of Sport event in London.

“This will include John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova, Billie Jean King and Pat Cash, alongside Tim Henman, Tracey Austin, Annabel Croft and Johanna Konta," Moore said.

“Joining the line-up this year will be 2021 champion Ashleigh Barty and, if he’s not playing, 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios, so anything could happen there.”

While her attitude towards taking a commentary role has changed, she has not changed her stance on making a comeback on the court.

“I don’t have the time – I don’t have the time to train, I don’t have the time to prepare, and I have so many great memories out on this court and now I just get to create new memories,” she said late last year.

“I’m certainly not coming out of retirement.”

Image: JONO SEARLE/EPA-EFE/ Shutterstock Editorial

Inside Ash Barty's new $4m beach pad

Australian tennis sensation Ash Barty has made headlines once again, this time not for her remarkable prowess on the court, but for her latest investment – a breathtaking beachfront apartment on the Gold Coast. The Wimbledon champion recently secured a half-floor sky home in a striking 41.25-metre-high tower, currently under construction at Palm Beach, for close to a whopping $4 million.

The 12-story apartment building, aptly named Kloud, is not just another luxury development; it represents a significant milestone for celebrity developer Graya as it marks their debut into the opulent real estate market of the Glitter Strip.

Headed by brothers Rob and Andrew Gray, Graya has carved a niche for itself by creating show-stopping residences in Brisbane for high-profile clients, including sports stars like rugby league great Darius Boyd and renowned figures like rapper Example and his then-wife, model Erin McNaught, along with rugby players Quade Cooper and Izzy Folau.

For Ash Barty, this investment signifies more than just acquiring a lavish property; it's about indulging in a lifestyle befitting her status. With earnings exceeding $30 million throughout her illustrious tennis career, Barty's purchase of this beachfront abode reflects her penchant for luxury and relaxation. It's reported that she intends to use the Jefferson Lane apartment as a lock-and-leave holiday home, allowing her to escape the rigours of public life and bask in the serene coastal ambiance whenever she desires.

Speaking about Barty's choice, Rob Gray told Realestate.com.au that “the proximity to the water afforded by the beachfront location on Jefferson Lane gives the apartments such a premium luxury feel, and Palm Beach offers that relaxed holiday lifestyle. Like myself, I assume Ash and her family will want to spend every weekend there.”

Now, let's take a glimpse inside Barty's new coastal sanctuary. Spanning approximately 200 square metres of living space, this four-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment offers panoramic ocean views that will leave anyone in awe. The design seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor living, with soaring glass walls opening onto a private balcony complete with an integrated barbecue kitchen, ideal for entertaining guests against the backdrop of the shimmering sea.

Inside, the interiors exude sophistication and refinement, featuring open-plan living areas adorned with European oak floorboards and a kitchen boasting sleek finishes such as a large island dining bar, integrated Miele appliances, and natural stone surfaces. The master bedroom is a sanctuary in itself, boasting plush wool carpeting, a walk-in robe, and an ensuite bathroom replete with indulgent amenities like a walk-in twin shower, dual vanity and a luxurious freestanding bath.

For Barty, this acquisition comes at a pivotal moment in her life. Having retired from professional tennis at the age of 25 in 2022, she has embarked on a new chapter, one that sees her building her dream home in Brookwater, a residential community situated close to her hometown of Ipswich, west of Brisbane. While her tennis career may have come to an end, her legacy continues to flourish both on and off the court, solidifying her status as not just a sporting icon but also a discerning connoisseur of luxury living.

Images: GRAYA \ Instagram

Ash Barty baby update: "Outnumbered by the boys"

Tennis icon Ash Barty and her spouse, Garry Kissick, celebrated the arrival of their son, Hayden, in July. Now the 27-year-old Wimbledon champion has sent her fans into a swooning frenzy by sharing a heartwarming collection of photographs on Instagram, capturing precious moments with their precious two-month old.

One endearing snapshot portrays a radiant Barty tenderly cradling her peacefully slumbering infant, while another captures the young one playfully peering at the camera from his playpen. Additionally, she shared an adorable photo of her son nestled in his father's lap, with Garry affectionately gazing down at him.

In the caption accompanying the photos, she humorously noted, "Outnumbered by the boys. Love every single minute."

These adorable moments didn't go unnoticed by Ash's celebrity friends. Swimming champion Giaan Rooney commented, "What a cutie," and cricket legend Matthew Hayden playfully remarked, "Decent crop of hair on the youngster."

In an interview shortly after Hayden's birth, Barty candidly shared her experiences as a new mother, describing it as both the best and most challenging thing she's ever done. She expressed immense gratitude for her son and described her time with Garry and Hayden as a precious, quiet period for their small family.

Barty also expressed the incredible bond she's formed with Hayden, highlighting the joy it brings to her life. The tennis star and Queensland native tied the knot with Garry Kissick in a private ceremony in Queensland in July last year. Their love story began at Brooklands Golf Club in Queensland in 2016, where they met during a round of golf, and they've been inseparable ever since.

Despite her remarkable success in tennis, Barty made a surprising decision to step away from the sport at the peak of her career following her landmark victory at the Australian Open in January 2022.

She has consistently rebuffed any suggestions of a future return to professional sports. In her memoir, My Dream Time, Barty reflects on how her fierce competitive drive began to wane after her Wimbledon triumph in 2021.

Images: Instagram

What is the difference between the laws of cricket and the ‘spirit’ of cricket?

Vaughan Cruickshank, University of Tasmania

The second Ashes Test ended in tense scenes on Sunday following the controversial dismissal of English batsman Jonny Bairstow. His stumping infuriated a pro-England crowd at the famous Lord’s ground and divided the cricketing world.

While the Australians would no doubt have preferred to win with less controversy, did they actually do anything wrong?

In answer to that question, it’s widely accepted, even by the English team, that his dismissal was within the laws of cricket. But critics then invoked the “spirit of cricket” to suggest the Australians should not have asked for the dismissal to be upheld. So what is the difference?

The laws of cricket detail the rules of the game of cricket worldwide. They have been owned and maintained by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in London for over 200 years.

The rules are clear and the many English fans and past players, along with the current captain and coach, have acknowledged the umpires were correct according to those laws.

That’s when we get to the “spirit”. Since the late 1990s, the laws of cricket have also had an introductory statement or preamble. It states that cricket should be played not only according to the laws, but also in the “spirit of cricket”“.

This preamble is aimed at reminding players and officials of their responsibility for ensuring cricket is played in a truly sportsmanlike manner.

The two captains have the main responsibility for ensuring the spirit of fair play is upheld. This primarily involves making sure players show respect for other players, officials and the traditional values of cricket. It is against the spirit of the game to do things such as dispute an umpire’s decision, verbally or physically abuse a player or umpire, or cheat.

The problem is the "spirit of cricket” is a subjective and slightly hazy concept. Respected English cricket writers have even suggested it has not existed since 1882, using an example of conduct by the “father of cricket”, W.G. Grace himself.

While cricket is united under its laws, cricket is a global game and the idea of the “spirit” differs around the world. Consequently, opinions about Bairstow’s dismissal have been highly polarised. Many English players and fans are very angry at what has occurred, accusing Australia of going against the “spirit of cricket”. The fact they narrowly lost the match no doubt intensified this feeling.

Their anger is reflected in the front-page stories in numerous English newspapers and in social media posts. Twitter has had tens of thousands of tweets under trending hashtags such as #Ashes, #Bairstow and #SpiritofCricket.

Interestingly, a look at these hashtags also reveal numerous accusations of hypocrisy by the English, backed up with examples of England’s questionable, and sometimes very similar, conduct. These examples have included central figures such as English players Stuart Broad, Jonny Bairstow and coach Brendon McCullum.

Additionally, the only player who has been fined for displaying conduct contrary to the spirit of the game in this Ashes series is English player Moeen Ali.

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting noted that a key part of the spirit of cricket was respecting the umpire’s decision, which in this instance he said the English players, fans and press had not. Indeed, several MCC members have been suspended over their abuse of Australian cricketers returning to their dressing room.

Perhaps the key lesson that both sides could learn can be encapsulated in the old saying that people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, particularly in the modern age when evidence can be quickly found on the internet.

Neither country has a clean slate when it comes to the “spirit of cricket”. Both should be careful about trying to take the moral high ground. Trevor Chappell’s underarm bowl is one of the most infamous Australian examples, still remembered over 40 years later.

Bairstow’s dismissal is the most recent controversy and unlikely to be the last.

As the Australian team heads to Leeds for the third Test starting on Thursday, there are concerns tensions could boil over, on and off the field. Leeds is known for its raucous atmosphere. Cricket Australia has increased security for the Australian team and reportedly told players to remain extra vigilant when dining out in restaurants during the remaining weeks of the Ashes.

We may never get complete agreement on the “spirit of cricket” and whether the Australians breached it on this occasion. Perhaps the closest we can get is to agree with former Australian bowler and Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie, who believes that "by playing within the laws of the game you are playing within the spirit of the game."

Let’s hope the remainder of the series sees a cooling of tensions and more focus on the last three Tests being played hard but fair, without reigniting “spirit of cricket” debates that no one wins.<!-- Below is The Conversation's page counter tag.
Hold on to your tennis rackets, folks, because Ash Barty, the Aussie tennis sensation and former World No 1, just hit us with the biggest news! She and her golf pro hubby, Garry Kissick, have proudly announced the arrival of their first little champion, Hayden.

In an Instagram post that nearly broke the internet, Barty and Kissick unveiled their "beautiful boy" to the world. It's safe to say that Hayden is already serving up some serious cuteness!

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Garry Kissick (@gazlfc90)

We can't help but reminisce about the time Barty shocked us all by calling it quits in 2022, just seven weeks after ending Australia's long singles title drought in Melbourne. But hey, who can blame her for trading her tennis racket for diapers and late-night lullabies? Parenthood is a whole new ball game!

Back in January, Barty cleverly hinted at her pregnancy by sharing an adorable snapshot of her furry friend, Origi, alongside a pair of tiny baby shoes. Talk about the perfect way to tease her fans! She captioned it with, "2023 set to be the best year yet. We are so excited for our new adventure," complete with a baby emoji. Origi must be thrilled to become a big sister, ready to protect her tiny human at all costs!

Kissick also got in on the fun, posting a photo of those oh-so-adorable baby shoes alongside their pup and a baby-sized Liverpool kit. "Little Red, 2023," he wrote with a baby emoji. Looks like little Hayden might have a future in tennis or soccer, or maybe both! Talk about a sporty gene pool.

Even Prime Minister Anthony Albanese couldn't contain his excitement. He showered Barty with praise, calling her a "great credit to Australia" and expressing his best wishes. Hey, when the PM gives you a thumbs-up, you know you're acing life!

Let's not forget Barty's outstanding victories in the tennis world. She snagged the 2022 Australian Open title, conquered the clay courts of the 2019 French Open, and triumphed at Wimbledon in 2021. Now she's ready for the toughest challenge of them all – raising a little one!

Last July, Barty and Kissick tied the knot in a private ceremony in sunny Queensland. They embarked on this incredible journey as a team, and now they've welcomed their very own little doubles partner. Game, set, match – family edition!

Congratulations to the Barty-Kissick clan on their newest addition. We can't wait to see Hayden rocking the tennis court with an adorable baby-sized racket. Watch out, world: there's a new player in town, and he's bringing his A-game and a truckload of cuteness!

Images: Instagram

Fan throws mother’s ashes on stage at Pink concert

Singing sensation Pink was left momentarily speechless after a fan threw a bag of their mother’s ashes on stage mid-performance.

The singer was just four songs into her headlining set at the British Summer Time festival in London’s Hyde Park when she grabbed a large package of white powder that had been thrown across the stage.

“Is this your mum?” a confused Pink asked.

“I don’t know how I feel about this.”

Simply stunned, the singer then placed the package down behind the front-of-stage speakers and continued performing the current song, Just Like A Pill.

Pink did not speak out about the bizarre situation, but social media users put the concert-goer on blast for the act.

“Someone gave their Mothers ashes to Pink. I need yall to have boundaries like girl what?” one fan wrote.

“She handled it well cause I’d definitely be mad that someone handed me their mom’s ashes,” another added.

“I feel like security at a concert will be like going thru TSA if people don’t stop being WEIRD,” a third wrote.

Other online users had more extreme takes, “I would have started snorting their mother on stage,” one person wrote on twitter, while another insisted they would’ve “sprinkled it on the crowd.”

This incident follows a string of boundary-breaking events at pop stars’ concerts, with singer Bebe Rexha receiving stitches after a fan threw a phone at her head, and another singer Ava Max having to end her show abruptly after a concert-goer rushed the stage and slapped her in the face.

Pink will be returning to Australia for a string of stadium shows in February 2024.

While the star hasn’t touched on the matter, there’s a good chance she'd recommend leaving the deceased at home.

"Ice in his veins": Stunning result in First Ashes Test

Australia has emerged victorious in the first Ashes Test, with captain Pat Cummins chasing down 281 with just two wickets left inside the final five overs on the last day at Edgbaston.

Cummins scored an unbeaten 44 as he and Nathan Lyon (16) put on 55 for the ninth wicket to bag the win — a thrilling reversal of Australia’s famous two-run loss at the same ground in 2005.

The captain and Lyon hit occasional boundaries, wearing several short balls on the body before Cummins got a thick edge to third man off Robinson and Harry Brook’s fumble on the boundary saw Aussie fans and players erupt in raptures — reigning in a 1-0 lead in the series.

"Ice in his veins," England great Michael Atherton said in commentary when Cummins' boundary sealed the result.

"Pat Cummins has led his side to a famous victory here at Edgbaston.

"Seventy-two they needed when he came to the crease and he has got his team over the line.”

Aussie cricket legend Ricky Ponting was astounded.

"What an end to a Test match, what a game of cricket," the former captain said.

Needing 174 runs to win at the start of the day, in-form opener Usman Khawaja laid a platform for the late charge with 65 off 197 balls, before being bowled late in the day.

He admitted he was “Sh****ng [himself]” as he watched the rest of the brutal run chase from the sheds.

Despite being confined to a knee brace, Ben Strokes brought himself on to bowl and claimed the wicket of the eventual man of the match, Usman Khawaja.

As the Aussie dressing room spiralled into a frenzy, an elated Cummins raced over to Lyon at the opposite end of the wicket and lifted his batting partner off the ground.

The pair were then seen in a triumphant embrace as ecstatic Aussies in the Birmingham crowd celebrated the incredible result.

The victory — initially appearing highly unlikely when Lyon joined Cummins with the visitors needing 54 runs to win — made for Australia’s highest successful run chase against England since 1948.

"You can’t ever get them back": Granddaughter’s plea for stolen ashes

Grieving teenager Jakoda Williams-Boyce has pleaded with thieves for the return of her grandmother’s ashes.

The theft occurred when the 19-year-old from Adelaide left her nana’s remains in the boot of her grey Mitsubishi Lancer after parking it on Amadeus Crescent in Christie Downs. The car was stolen at some point between Thursday evening and Friday morning with the urn still inside.

Jakoda had been living with her grandmother, Sharon, when she passed away at the age of 64. The family had been in possession of Sharon’s remains ever since, until they came under Jakoda’s care four weeks ago.

In images shared with 9News, Jakoda can be seen cradling the precious urn, and smiling in an old photograph with her nana alongside the caption “10 months today. I love you my angel.”

“I will say, it is my own fault for putting that personal item there, but I didn’t think twice. I shouldn’t have to worry about people on the street,” the teenager admitted, speaking to 9News.

It remains unclear how thieves got their hands on the car, as the keys and the car’s battery remain with Jakoda, though glass was reportedly scattered across the scene.

Police have so far been unable to locate the vehicle, but their search continues, with Jakoda issuing an emotional plea to the thieves for the safe return of her nana, confessing that it feels like losing her beloved grandmother for a second time.

“Me, personally, I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night knowing that I’ve stolen the car with someone’s cremations in the backseat,” she said, “you can’t ever get them back.”

Jakoda’s interests lie solely in getting the ashes back, with the distraught teenager telling reporters, “I would ask the question of ‘why’, but I wouldn’t go any further.

“Hopefully, when I do get them back, I want to take them to the funeral director and put them into, like, the ground. So I can't lose them."

Image: 9News

"Best year yet": Ash Barty shares pregnancy announcement

Ash Barty reveals what has shocked her most about retirement

Ash Barty has revealed what has surprised her most about retirement since walking off the court for good last January.

The former world number one quit her stellar tennis career at the height of her powers following her Australian Open win last January, and has rejected all suggestions that she might return to professional sport in the future.

Barty, 26, has absolutely no regrets about her decision to retire, saying she has been "surprised" by how comfortable she is now.

"To be honest, I think what has surprised me most is how comfortable I've been," she told the New York Times.

"I think there was probably a normal fear or uncertainty in not knowing what my life would look like after tennis after being so focused."

"I was a bit unsure how I would deal with that because I am a person who likes to be organised. There was probably a little bit of fear in that, but overall, that hasn't been an issue, a concern or a worry."

"What's been surprising in a good way is that I've slipped quite seamlessly into this life that's just like everyone else. Which is kind of always what I wanted."

While Barty is adamant she will not return to play the sport at a professional level, she is staying involved with the tennis world by starting up an elite academy in Australia with Jason Stoltenberg and Craig Tizzer, and says she's interested in mentoring, but not coaching, junior players.

"The more time I've had to sit and think and absorb this year, I think it is never in the sense of me competing professionally again," she said.

"But I'll never not be involved in the sport. So I think that's where I'll always get my tennis fix, that taste of the sport that gave me so much."

Pat Rafter delves into “rift” between Ash Barty and US player

Aussie great Pat Rafter has opened up about the tension during Ash Barty’s match against her 2022 Australian Open final opponent, Danielle Collins.

The now retired tennis star smashed the American 6-3 7-6 (7-2) which saw Barty claim her first home slam and the third of her career.

Almost 12 months later, Rafter has opened up about the tension the pair had in which Barty didn’t want to lose to the American star and vice versa.

“I knew with her and Danielle, they had a bit of a
what’s the word? There was no love lost anyway,” Rafter told reporters ahead of the United Cup.

“Danielle’s pretty feisty. And Ash didn’t want to lose to her.”

He said that there was a bit of worry when he saw Barty get “rattled” on court before getting out of her head and smashing the game.

“It was pretty funny, I don’t know how much you can pick up on the on-court subtleties of it but I’m pretty aware of Ash and I understand where her mind’s at and I can see all her little movements and ticks,” Rafter continued.

“I was going, ‘oh no, she’s getting rattled, she’s not good’. But she was able to pull it out which was pretty important.

“I would have hated to see her get to the final and lose because she was the dominant player. I like seeing the best players win.”

After her successful win, the now 26-year-old shocked the tennis world by announcing her retirement from the game.

She recently got married to her longtime partner Garry Kissick and is currently working at Optus.

Image: Getty

Nick Kyrgios blasts Ash Barty’s historic win

Nick Kyrgios has hit back at Ash Barty’s historic win of the Newcombe Medal for a record fifth time in a row.

The 26-year-old retired tennis player won the Newcombe Medal at the Australian Tennis Awards for her Australian Open success.

This, however, did not appear to sit right with fellow Aussie Kyrgios, who said she did not deserve the medal after having only played the Australian Open this year.

In an Instagram story, Kyrgios shared a photo with Barty and his achievements in the past year, clearly showing he achieved more.

He had the caption: "LOL. No respect at all. I don't give a f***."

The graphic showed that Barty had played only three months of 2022 in which she won two singles titles and one doubles crown, including 14 matches across the two formats.

Kyrgios on the other hand had one singles title and three doubles crowns, as well as 61 victories across the two disciplines.

Despite the huge difference in numbers, it would appear that Kyrgios played better than Barty but that is not the case.

Barty won a singles grand slam and Kyrgios simply did not after losing the Wimbledon singles decider to Novak Djokovic while Barty defeated Danielle Collins.

Images: Instagram

“I was always going to be back”: Ash Barty shares career news

Tennis champion Ash Barty has announced that she will be returning to the sport at next year’s Australian Open - but she won’t be returning as a player.

After she caused a stir when she hung up her racket earlier this year, the 26-year-old has rejected suggestions that she would be returning to her professional sport in the future.

Instead, Barty will be attending the Australian Open as an ambassador for the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program.

“I was never going to run away, I promise. I was always going to be back,” she told the Today Show.

“It wasn't something that it was close the door and never come return.”

While she won’t be making an appearance on the centre court again, Barty said she will be “doing my thing” in the background.

“I certainly will be enjoying it, like everyone else,” she told the program.

“I can't wait, it's scary to think it's so close, it feels like a couple of sleeps and it will be here.

“But I am certainly excited for a big summer ... It's an incredible way to bring people to the Australian Open to help them experience it in just the most incredible fashion.”

Barty shared her excitement at attending the championship, saying it “will be a great way to bring people together”.

“Obviously Melbourne during the Australian Open is crazy for the players and now I am excited to actually see what it is like on the other side,” she said.

“Experience the culture, the different way the city buzzes.”

This year has been a busy one for the former World No.1, who married her long-term partner Garry Kissick, and released several books, including her memoir My Dream Time and Little Ash children’s book series with Jasmin McGaughey and Jade Goodwin.

“I'm not bored, I think this year obviously was very busy with all my book stuff and the memoir release, the Little Ash books which has been great,” Barty said.

“It's been a lot to take in. I think there was a part of me that was a little bit scared and fearful of how it would be received.

“But so far, so good.

“It's the first time that really my life, my thoughts, my biggest fears were on the page for people to read and judge and to take in.

“So many people cheered for me when I won, cried with me when I lost and now it was time to let them in and really enjoy the journey for what it was in all of its truths, some of it ugly, some brilliant, but for all that it was.”

When asked whether she missed tennis, Barty had a mixed answer.

“Yes and no. There are certainly parts of it that I miss,” she said.

“I miss testing myself against the world's best, I miss seeing my mates that I met from all corners of the globe.

“I'm certainly happy and I know that it was the right time for me, it was the right decision and certainly no regrets.”

Image: @ashbarty (Instagram)

“I’ve tasted the faintest bitter edge of racism”: Ash Barty admits to being racially abused

Ash Barty has confessed that she’s been on the receiving end of “bitter racism” after finding out about her Indigenous heritage.

In her autobiography, My Dream Time, which will be published on November 2, Barty opens up about the moment she found out about her family’s past.

The former tennis player said it was a difficult moment when her father searched for the truth and eventually told Barty and her sister which then led to “vile racism”.

“I’ve seen glimpses and tasted the faintest bitter edge of racism” she wrote.

“I’d win a Deadly Award but get vilified on line. I’d become a Tennis Australia First Nations Ambassador and then find some muppet calling my heritage into question.”

The three-time Grand Slam winner said there was still a lot of work and educated needed to address the importance of Indigenous Australians.

“There was no need for us to talk about that in the moment but it was certainly something that confused me a little bit as to why someone would criticise something that is so personal to me,” she told NewsCorp.

“Looking back now it’s all about the education and giving people the tools to understand others and appreciate what came before us.”

Barty went on to reveal that her trip to Central Australia where she worked with First Nations children was when she was convinced of a connection with them.

“If anything it has just reassured to me that the path I want to go down in the future is to try and help First Nations youth around the country.”

Eventually, Barty found out of her Indigenous heritage when her father Rob traced back his roots.

At 13 he was told by a cousin that there was Indigenous heritage in the family but his parents denied it, claiming their connection was only to Māoris in New Zealand.

Rob did not accept that and went on to trace back his family history where he found out that his great grandmother was an Indigenous Australian who married a white man.

Barty’s dad sat her and her sister down when she was just seven and told them the truth.

The family then went on to record their names with the Ngarigu Nation.

“It was not a conversation his parents could have with him,” she wrote.

“To his parents, Aboriginal ancestry was something to be ashamed of and not something he should be curious about.”

Images: Instagram
