Princess Beatrice reveals the “most terrifying moment” in her life

Princess Beatrice has shared the “most terrifying moment” that she encountered at work.

The 35-year-old royal has been open about her struggles with dyslexia, and has opened up on a podcast about a major challenge she faced at work.

"I was anecdotally talking about how difficult it was at work," Beatrice, who works for US-based technology firm Afiniti, told podcast host Kate Griggs.

"Sometimes you get handed a whiteboard pen and you've got to do the group think again and collaborate and off you go to the whiteboard."

"And I was thinking that's the most terrifying moment for me in my life, and please don't ever make me do it. I'll do a speech tomorrow but don't give me a pen and a whiteboard."

Beatrice also shared the difficulties she faced as a child, and having to go through school before being formally diagnosed with dyslexia.

"The early days of school really, really stand out as to those moments where you just don't fit in and you can't figure out what it is about you," the royal said candidly.

"I remember trying to do extra lessons with teachers and just sort of blankly staring up at her face, and she was like, 'why are you looking at me? The words are not on my face' [and] I said 'well, they're not on the page either'."

"So the early days, in and around that understanding that my brain worked slightly differently, I remember them being a real challenge."

Princess Beatrice became emotional when talking about the teachers who helped her during her schooling career, saying she "probably wouldn't be the person I am today if they hadn't been there in my life".

The princess also paid tribute to her mum, Sarah Ferguson, for championing her to find a new way to do things.

"My family and I are incredibly close, so I would say that all throughout our lives, we've been able to go through everything with humour and with joy and my mum really instilled that," Beatrice said.

Never about what you can't."

Attending the event was Princess Beatrice's first official engagement since giving birth to her daughter Sienna in October.

Princess Beatrice has given birth to a healthy baby girl and while no names have been announced yet, bookies have revealed the top predicted name is Sarah - in a nod to grandma Sarah Ferguson.

Beatrice, 32, is the daughter of Prince Andrew and Fergie, and she gave birth to her first child at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital just before midnight at 11.42 pm on Saturday weighing 6 pounds and two ounces.

In the name stakes, as well as Sarah, Anna and Emily are also frontrunners as possibilities. So far Sarah is the early favourite with odds at 8/1 and Anna and Emily are joint second with odds of 10/1.

A nod to her Italian heritage is possible

Bookmakers Ladbrokes is also predicting an Italian name in a nod to the baby girl’s father, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. So far, Matilda is the name leading this field at 4/1, closely followed by Florence at 9/2.

Jessica O'Reilly of Ladbrokes said: "It should come as no surprise to see that punters are backing slightly more unusual names for the new royal baby given Beatrice and her sister's monikers.

"Matilda and Florence are proving popular names at the top of the betting, along with other Italian inspired choices such as Arabella and Giovanna."

Arabella has odds of 5/1 as does Cecelia, while Giovanna is 12/1. Elizabeth after the Queen is 7/1.

Sam Rosbottom of another agency, Betfair, said: "Sarah is the early 8/1 favourite, a nod to her mother Sarah the Duchess of York.

"We are tipping the happy couple to have an Italian flavour with their choice of name, with Edoardo's father hailing from Bergamo.

"The likes of Anna at 10/1 second favourite, Maria at 12/1 and Rosa at 14/1 suggest they could break from traditional British names usually favoured by the royal family."

Princess Beatrice tweeted the happy news

Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

Read the announcement in full - https://t.co/ImbfRLEdAe pic.twitter.com/olwDMv3Zmo
— The Royal Family (@RoyalFamily) September 20, 2021

Princess Beatrice tweeted when her little girl had arrived "safely" into the world two days ago on Saturday September 18.

Beatrice is already a stepmother to Edoardo's five-year-old son Christopher Woolf, known as Wolfie.

They acknowledged this in their tweet: "Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf."

Princess Beatrice also made sure to thank the hospital staff after the exciting arrival, writing: "So delighted to share the news of the safe arrival of our daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

"Thank you to the Midwife team and everyone at the hospital for their wonderful care."

The new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed - and are delighted with the news, the Palace said.

The newborn is Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's second grandchild.

Beatrice has since been inundated with messages from the Royal Family, including the Queen and Prince Charles and Camilla.

Announcing the news on the Royal website, the Queen said she was "delighted".

Princess Eugenie has also shared a heartfelt message of congratulations to her sister Beatrice.

The proud aunt wrote on Instagram: "Congratulations on your new angel.

"I can't wait to meet her and I'm so proud of you."

A friend of the family said Sarah, Duchess of York was "over the moon" and had already met her new granddaughter.

The duchess returned from Balmoral on Friday and was introduced to her grandchild over the weekend.

"She is absolutely over the moon," the friend added.

The 12th great-grandchild for the Queen

The baby is the Queen's 12th great-grandchild, and arrives just over three months after little Lilibet Diana, Harry and Meghan's second child.

The monarch's large brood of great-grandchildren has swelled in 2021 - with Princess Eugenie welcoming baby son August in February and Zara Tindall her third child Lucas in March.

Image: Twitter

Why Princess Beatrice’s wedding band is so special

Princess Beatrice added her own personal touch to the royal wedding tradition as she married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on Friday morning.

Being the first royal to wed at Windsor’s Royal Chapel of All Saints, Beatrice was forced to keep a guest list of 20 people due to COVID-19 guidelines.

And while everyone is focusing on the stunning wedding dress she borrowed from her grandmother the Queen, they forgot to focus on one accessory that’s different from many royal brides before her.

Her wedding band.

Beatrice’s wedding band was designed by jeweller Shaun Leane, who also created her Art Deco-meets-Victorian engagement ring.

According to Hello, the platinum and diamond band was made to fit around the engagement ring and was crafted in consultation with the couple.

"I am thrilled for the happy couple, it warms my heart to see two wonderful people unite in love as much as Edoardo and Beatrice do," the British jeweller said in a statement.

Over the last 100 years, most royal brides have chosen gold wedding bands, which is why Beatrice’s ring is different from the rest.

Many royal wedding rings have been created from a single lump of gold taken from the Clogau St David mine in Wales since 1923. These include the bands belonging to Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

Old family tradition or not, it was clear Beatrice had her own vision for her wedding ring.

Princess Beatrice adds two more titles after royal wedding

She may have already been a member of the royal family, but after tying the knot with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi over the weekend, Princess Beatrice can add another role to her list.

In a private, intimate ceremony at Windsor Castle, Beatrice said ‘I do’ to her now husband in a beautiful vintage dress loaned to her by her grandmother the Queen.

But she isn’t the only one who has a family of aristocrats as Edoardo himself is the son of Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi and Nikki Shale from the Italian royal House of Savoy.

He also has a three-year-old son Christopher ‘Wolfie’ Woolf from his previous marriage with Chinese-American architect Dara Huang.

This means Princess Beatrice has another fancy title she can include in her repertoire.

“Edoardo is the only male descendent taking the family into the next generation,” his father told The Daily Mail.

“He is a count — his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna.”

It is assumed that she will follow in her younger sister’s footsteps and drop the ‘York’ from her title.

The 31-year-old is taking up another very important role, one that has nothing to do with royalty – and that’s becoming a stepmother.

Edo has previously told The Telegraph that he and Wolfie’s mother, Dara are on amicable terms, saying they co-parent the young child.

“I take [Christopher] to school a couple of mornings a week and finish in time to put him in bed three or four evenings,” he said.

The couple was set to marry on 29 May at the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace in London, but the service was delayed to the pandemic.

After a recent relaxation of lockdown rules, weddings are allowed to take place in England but with no more than 30 guests.

“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were married in a small family ceremony on Friday 17th July. The ceremony took place at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor, with the kind permission of Her Majesty The Queen,” the palace confirmed at the time.

“The couple decided to hold a small private ceremony with their parents and siblings following the postponement of their wedding in May. Working within government guidelines, the service was in keeping with the unique circumstances while enabling them to celebrate their wedding with their closest family.”
