Monty Python star's candid financial admission

Monty Python star Eric Idle has made a candid admission about the state of his finances, revealing why he still has to work at the age of 80.

The comic legend admitted he receives only a fraction of the millions the Python team have made in the past because the finances are a “disaster”.

In messages on X, formerly Twitter, Idle wrote: “I don’t know why people always assume we’re loaded”.

“I have to work for my living. I never dreamed that at this age the income streams would tail off so disastrously."

“I have been working and earning for Pythons since 1995. And now no more.”

Idle also took aim at TV lawyer Holly Gilliam, the daughter of fellow Python member Terry Gilliam, who took over the Python brand in 2013 as part of HDG Projects Ltd.

He said, “I guess if you put a Gilliam child in as your manager you should not be so surprised”.

“One Gilliam is bad enough. Two can take out any company.”

Daughter Lily Idle backed him, writing online, “I’m so proud of my dad for finally finally finally starting to share the truth.”

The Pythons, who also included John Cleese, 84, Michael Palin, 80, and the late Terry Jones — made a fortune thanks to their iconic cult films, including Life of Brian, hit stage show Spamalot, which Idle co-wrote, and the original Flying Circus BBC TV series.

They were back in the limelight in 2014 with Monty Python Live (Mostly) — One Down, Five to Go: a reference to former member Graham Chapman who died in 1989 aged just 48.

It featured interpretations of some of their famous sketches, and reportedly earned the surviving members at least £2 million ($3.87m AUD) each.

Chris Brown's candid love life admission

Dr Chris Brown, who has stolen the hearts of many Aussies with his good looks, charm and love for animals has opened up about his love life.

In a candid interview with Stellar, the TV personality revealed that he will keep his relationships private until he knows it's strong enough to withstand speculation and online commentary.

“The challenge, really, is that it's hard enough to meet the right person, anyway,” he told the publication.

He also opened up on what it's like to date in the public eye.

“That extra layer of speculation and interest… once you're actually in a relationship it's easy, but it's meeting that person at the start that's really hard. You could potentially be on your first date and you get photographed.

“And then there’s a search for who this person is, what her backstory is, and then all of a sudden, it becomes something that it may not be that stage.”

The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! host added that it's easy to get into a “cycle”, which is “so bizarre it’s almost amusing”.

In a previous interview with Stellar, he also said that he was "certainly looking for the one" and that his younger self would be "horrified" if he knew that he is still unmarried and without kids.

“But it's my doing. I’ve probably prioritised work more than I potentially should have over the past 10 years – to the detriment of my personal life,” he added.

The beloved TV vet also said that he is looking for a serious relationship: "I don’t want to be this person with a history of short to medium-term relationships.”

While Chris is known for keeping his love life private, he has had a few relationships in the past.

In 2014 he was romantically linked to Bondi-based project manager Hannah Thomas and Home and Away actress Kassandra Clementi.

In late 2016, he dated TV producer Kendall Bora, who he was with for two years. Bora has since tied the knot with Weekend Sunrise host Matt Doran.

In 2018 he reportedly dated Liv Phyland for a year, before eventually calling it quits although they remain "really good friends" according to Women's Day.

He was most recently linked to luxury magazine founder, Brooke Meredith, although they rarely made a public appearance together and reportedly split in late 2022.

Images: Instagram

Aussie grandma and former Greens candidate jailed in Japan claims she was scammed

Donna Nelson, a 57-year-old Perth grandmother, has found herself entangled in a nightmarish situation in a Japanese prison, accused of a crime she vehemently denies.

Nelson, an Aboriginal health advocate and former Greens candidate, has been incarcerated for nearly a year without a trial date set, facing allegations of attempting to smuggle two kilograms of meth into Japan. However, her plight is not as straightforward as it may seem, and her family and legal team are tirelessly fighting to clear her name.

The ordeal began on January 4, when Nelson was arrested at Narita Airport in Tokyo. Authorities claimed to have discovered drugs concealed within a false compartment in her luggage. According to the prosecution, a customs officer suspected her of acting suspiciously. But the narrative has taken a complex turn as Nelson's defence team unveiled a shocking revelation: she alleges she was deceived and manipulated by a Nigerian scammer who had groomed her for two years.

Since her arrest, Nelson has been confined to Chibu prison, located an hour outside Tokyo. Her living conditions are appalling; she spends 23 hours a day isolated in her cell, showers are allowed only every three days, and communication with other inmates and visitors is strictly prohibited. This form of treatment is a reflection of Japan's infamous "hostage justice" strategy, aimed at coercing confessions from detainees.

The only individuals granted access to Nelson are her lawyers, Australian embassy representatives, and a pastor. Legal representatives have identified a significant issue with translation throughout the case, and it could very well hinge on an inaccurate translation by the customs officer at the time of her arrest.

Rie Nishida from Shinjuku International Law Firm, one of Nelson's lawyers, explained, "The main evidence from the prosecution is mainly a customs officer who said she acted suspiciously. There's a lot of mistranslation that's also the difficulty in this case."

This mistranslation issue is not trivial; it extends to the messages exchanged between Nelson and the man she believed she had a romantic connection with, who ultimately turned out to be a scammer.

Matthew Owens, another member of the legal team and a translator for the case, noted, "Some of them were completely wrongly translated, so we had to re-translate those messages and submit them back to the prosecutor."

Nelson remains steadfast in her conviction that she is innocent of the accusations against her. Her lawyer, Owens, relayed her message, saying, "Donna wants to say that she is going to be able to prove her innocence, she's 100 per cent confident of that, and she wants everyone in Australia and the world to know she is innocent."

If found guilty, Nelson could face a harrowing 20-year sentence in a Japanese prison, a terrifying prospect for both her and her family. Her five daughters and grandchildren are distraught, but they are not giving up the fight to prove her innocence. They believe they have evidence to substantiate the claim that she was scammed and unjustly accused.

Image: Australian Greens

Dawn French tells all in candid interview

Dawn French spills all in her latest interview with 60 minutes.

The beloved British comedian revealed that being imperfect is perfect for her, in a world where unrealistic beauty standards are starting to dominate social media.

"I can't believe that we, especially women, have come this far to hand our daughters a life where they have to do selfies and be filtered to try to look perfect," she told 60 minutes reporter Tara Brown.

"I don't know how to connect to all those perfect people. I'm in the anti-perfection league frankly."

The comedian revealed that the secret to her happiness is finding joy in the simple things in life, an outlook that she gained following the devastating loss of her father when she was 18.

"I find joy in lots of tiny things. I'm the sort of person who doesn't need to be swimming with dolphins, I find happiness in the simple things," she added.

French said that losing her father to suicide at such a young age shaped who she was, and that she was grateful for the love he showed and the lessons he taught her.

"Now that I look back on it as an adult, I think he needed to give me some armour, he told me that I should value myself and that I deserved the very best," she said.

"As a little chubby girl I could have grown up with all kinds of insecurities, but because of him I have never doubted that I'm not worth something."

Her father's struggle with mental health gave her a deeper understanding of the complexity of depression and a greater appreciation for her own emotional stability.

"He kept his depression very well hidden, so most of the time dad was very cheerful but he also had these black dog moments where he just couldn't cope," she said.

"Then he would get stronger and he would be back on the horse again."

"I've had sadness, but I haven't sunk to depths like that. I have worried that it's inherited, but I don't seem to have that, I've got too much to live for I think," she added.

The French and Saunders actress is currently enjoying her life in a quaint village in the English countryside with her husband, therapist Mark Bignell.

"I've got a love for life, and I love and am loved back by a lot of people, so I can't ask for more than that," she said.

You can find the full episode here.

Image: 60 minutes

We've always had each other's backs. We're going okay," she told the publication.

"Obviously, I miss him and think about him every second – that's never going to change," she continued.

"I think we just learn to accept life, that this is our life now, and do the best by him and make him proud... and be positive and enjoy everything. You don't know what's going to happen.

"We just had to deal with what comes our way. We do it together, and that's the important thing," she concluded.

This comes just days after loved ones took to social media to honour the legendary cricketer on what would've been his 54th birthday.

Brooke took to Instagram stories to share a throwback photo of herself and her dad.

"Your day King, Happy birthday dad," she captioned the photo posted on Wednesday the 13th with a love heart.

Another photo showed her indulging in a few of her dad's favourite snacks including potato scallops, a donut, lollies and a bag of Musk sticks.

"Birthday lunch for dad. All his faves," she captioned.

Shane's son, Jackson also took to Instagram to honour his late dad, with a video about how he planned to mark the day.

“Today would have been dad’s 54th birthday – happy birthday dad,” he said in the clip.

“And I thought instead of being sad or posting a story in black and white with a big caption with things that are quite obvious, I’m going to do what dad would have wanted me to do which is be happy and do things that make me happy."

He then listed three things that he used to do with his dad including getting Maccas, watching Two and a Half Men, and playing roulette.

“Roulette is on par for me and dad with poker and we just loved cheering on a 23 for a spin. So we’ll go downstairs and see if we can hit a 23. Jelena Dokic's candid discussion about mental health

Jelena Dokic has opened up about her struggled with mental health issues, being diagnosed with an eating disorder, and the trauma that came with being a young tennis champion.

The 40-year-old spoke candidly with 9Honey ahead of the release of her tell-all book Fearless: Finding the Power to Thrive, which hits the shelves on September 12th.

In Jelena's first book Unbreakable, she documented the abuse she endured at the hands of her father and tennis coach Damir Dokic.

After the release of Unbreakable, Jelena found strength from other women who came forward to share their stories of abuse.

"It's changed my life," she told 9Honey.

"I say that the day that Unbreakable came out was the best day of my life. It was the beginning of healing for me and basically finding happiness."

She shared how her cultural background of being born in Croatia, combined with the secrecy of her career, meant she couldn't speak out about her abuse.

"I was taught to be silent, to never say a word, to not speak up and to never talk about those things that go on behind closed doors.

"And if you look at a lot of things in this world like abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, mental health, the power of those things is the silence, and that's how the abusers and the perpetrators control the situation."

She went on to cite the MeToo movement, and stories of survival from Grace Tame and Simone Biles as reasons to come forward with her own story.

"Everything changed once those amazing women spoke up," she says.

Since going public with her story of struggling with mental health issues as a result of her abuse, Jelena has been subject to a slew of online hate.

As a result of the onslaught and lasting trauma, the former tennis champion was diagnosed with bing-eating disorder, or BED.

"I didn't even know originally that I had it," Dokic explains.

She says she thought her disordered eating behaviours were "kind of normal" particularly on the professional sports circuit.

"It wasn't really until the last couple years where I was dealing with actual trauma from the past and going through a lot of these things where I've discovered 'OK, I've got an eating disorder,'" Dokic says.

After losing and regaining 50kgs in the past few years, and being the target of relentless online body shaming, Jelena wanted to speak out about body positivity and those who target different body types.

"That's why I wanted to talk about it because again, I think that for a lot of people, it will resonate with them and I think that we need that representation," she said.

"It doesn't matter because that should not be that main topic, do you know what I mean?

"My kindness and who I am at my core, my IQ, my important values. Not my measurements."

Through dealing with lasting trauma, an eating disorder, and a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder (BPD), all while being in the limelight, Jelena said it is important to be open and honest about your struggles, and not paint the picture of perfectionism.

She has learned that being strong "has nothing to do with putting on this perfect front".

"There's actually so much strength in being vulnerable," Dokic shares.

"That actually takes courage and strength, being vulnerable and being honest and raw and open about everything, especially about your tough moments."

"I am very proud of myself where I am now," she says.

"And the biggest thing I'm proud of is the fact that there is absolutely no hate, bitterness or frustration from me going towards anyone or anything in life.

"I have embraced all the difficult and tough times and just tried to make a positive impact. And I am, yeah, I'm very proud of that."

The first name is Parker or Spencer.”

The 35-year-old singer then mulled over the two options before she jokingly said: can’t say Parker because Rich likes that name.

“I’ll say Spencer,” she concluded.

Adele then gave a sneak peek into one of the names she likes.

“I love Ray for a girl as well, spelled like the boy’s name,” she added.

The fan was over-the-moon when she found out they had a similar taste in baby names.

"Stop - that’s (going to be) the middle name!” she said.

Adele gushed that they were "so in sync".

Footage of the sweet exchange has since gone viral with over 1.4 million views, and fans are delighted at the interaction.

“Spencer Ray is actually nice but the fact that Adele picked it… come on, best name in the world,” wrote one fan.

“’Adele named you' 😳 elite story,” another commented on the stories that the fan's future daughter could tell.

“Imagine growing up and saying I was named by Adele 😂,” another said.

Adele is already a mother to 10-year-old son Angelo, who she shares with ex-husband Simon Konecki.

The star has been hinting about wanting to expand her family since February 2022, and has been in a relationship with Rich since early 2021.

Images: TikTok

Michelle Bridges has spoken candidly about the challenges of being a single parent to her seven-year-old son Axel.

The former Biggest Loser trainer described her son, who she shared with ex-partner and fellow celebrity trainer Steve Willis, as a "confident" little boy.

While Bridges was doing radio interviews about a new project, Axel joined in on the fun.

The 52-year-old told 9Honey, "He's just like a little man now, we have good conversations and he's got a really good sense of humour."

"He went into that radio station this morning, just jumped on the microphone, started singing and was answering the phone."

Bridges said she has purposefully organised her everyday life to be present in her young son's life.

"I've kind of engineered my life this way to be able to take him to school and pick him up pretty much every single day," she says.

She went on to say her and Axel are "two peas in a pod", while admitting it has been difficult to raise Axel as a single parent.

"We're a team and we're very close, extremely close. And yes, it can be challenging and you do need to sometimes rely on other people to help you out," she explains.

"I don't have family in Sydney but I have basically my best friend who's like my brother, and they are super tight."

"It does take a bit of a village if you've got one great if you haven't you sometimes need to really find it."

Jackie O's candid admission about her wealth

Jackie O Henderson, who is one of the most well-paid women in Australia's entertainment industry, has opened up about how "embarrassed" she feels by the reports of her wealth, and how daunting it is to earn so much.

The radio star made the candid admission on Stellar’s Something To Talk About podcast, where she shared the “scary” reality of being a self-made female millionaire.

“I do sometimes get embarrassed to talk about money. I hate showing off wealth. I’ve always been like that … I want a nice bag, car and house, but I don’t want to flaunt it,” she said.

The breakfast host and her co-star Kyle Sandilands were rumoured to earn around $7-8 million each per year, when they renewed their contract for The Kyle and Jackie O show with ARN in 2019.

“But [at the same time] I shouldn’t be embarrassed about it, so I am trying to take more ownership of that," she added.

Henderson shared her own struggles of navigating conversations around wealth.

“And as a man, they’d absolutely be owning that, and as a female, when you’re single, it’s quite scary to earn a lot of money, because a lot of men can be intimidated by that.

“And so your instinct is to downplay it for that reason.”

She added that although she is grateful for such a successful career, she preferred the "chase" over the destination.

“I am grateful for it, I am, but sometimes I think … I wish I was just back in my 20s and trying to buy my first apartment,” she added.

“Isn’t that weird? It’s only a thought I had a couple of weeks ago … I don’t know. I keep asking myself why I’m thinking that way.

“All I’ll say is, as women, we just need to be proud a little more.”

Images: Instagram / Stellar Magazine

Bindi Irwin shares candid health update

Bindi Irwin has shared a candid health update, while sharing details of her gruelling road to receiving a diagnosis for endometriosis.

The wildlife warrior first shared that she was suffering with the condition, which effects one in nine women, in March 2023, as she revealed she was living in constant pain.

Now, the 25-year-old told People magazine that it took 10 years to be diagnosed, after being “tested for everything” after experiencing extreme fatigue, pain and nausea over the span of a decade.

“It’s so hard because you feel like it’s inescapable,” she told the publication.

“You don’t know what’s wrong with you, and then when people tell you ‘It’s all in your head’ or ‘you’re hormonal’ or ‘just have a cup of tea, lay down,’ you end up feeling so desperately alone because there’s no answers.”

In August 2022, Bindi pushed to undergo an explorative laparoscopy to explore her organs in the abdomen and pelvis.

“I was so scared that they wouldn’t find anything because we had run out of everything else to test for,” Irwin said.

The surgery revealed she had 37 lesions and cysts on her ovaries, and was formally diagnosed with endometriosis.

Following specialised treatment and surgery, the conservationist said she feels “like I have a second chance at life ... I feel brand new”.

“It’s not like a light switch, but every week I feel like I’m able to do a little bit more,” she said.

“Now I wake up in the morning, and I don’t have to take anti-nausea medicine or have my heat pack."

“Being able to go for a walk with my daughter and not feeling like I have to throw up in the bushes is just wild to me.”

“I was spiralling”: Naomi Watts’ candid menopause admission

Naomi Watts has spoken candidly about how her life drastically changed when she started going through early menopause at the age of 36.

The Aussie actress, now 54, said going through such a big change at such a young age “wasn’t easy”, and found it difficult to access information about what she was going through, both physically and mentally.

Speaking candidly to Hello magazine, she said, “Going through menopause at such a young age was not easy, especially during a time when there was so little information available about it.”

“Mood swings, night sweats, and migraines … I was feeling like I was spiralling out of control,” she added.

According to the Mayo Clinic, menopause typically occurs at the age of 50, when a woman experiences her last period.

Despite the change coming on much earlier than anticipated, Watts said learning to cope with the hormonal changes helped her feel more liberated.

“Going through this journey led me to a deeper understanding of myself, and I came out on the other side feeling more authentically me,” she told Page Six.

“A lot of freedom came in the self-acknowledgment.”

She continued, “I had those voices in the back of my mind reminding me how old women are let out to pasture, but there was a lure to this desire to be authentic, to crawl from behind the invisible wall and just acknowledge for myself something that everyone could have probably guessed.”

Watts’ personal experience led her to partner with Menopause Mandate, a non-profit organisation that aims to revolutionise midlife support available for American women.

“I truly believe that if menopause hadn’t been such an off-limits topic when I first started experiencing symptoms, I would’ve had an easier transition,” she said.

“I was part of a cycle that desperately needed to be broken.”

Remember it like it was yesterday, I watched your wedding on TV totally pregnant. And the next day our lovely boy came into the world,” one shared. “Thank you for also remembering all mothers [on] this fine sunny day, dear Frederik.”

“The beautiful May day in 2004, was a big day for Denmark - we got our Mary,” wrote another. “Big congratulations to you and to us”.

Some, however, took notice of how Frederik had omitted specific mention of his own mother, Queen Margarethe.

Tensions had reportedly been high for the Danish royals as 2022 drew to a close, though they had come together to celebrate Margarethe’s 83rd birthday in April.

And with the broad celebration of mothers all across Denmark, most were happy to accept that Margarethe had been included in that tribute, and a fellow recipient of the love.

Images: Instagram

Rove gets candid about wife’s terminal cancer battle

Rove McManus has opened up about his late wife's battle with terminal cancer, and how the couple navigated her devastating diagnosis in the public eye.

The former talk show host spoke candidly with Jess Rowe on her podcast The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show, and shared how he would feel uncomfortable when asked questions about Belinda Emmett.

"It was a tricky thing to navigate without getting mad at people for prying," McManus admitted.

"I'd maybe give a warning and I've had times where I'd literally just sit there with my arms folded and say 'I'm not going to talk about it'."

Rove also shared the difficulties of juggling his high profile career and caring for his sick wife, all under the scrutiny of the public eye.

"At the time it was difficult because you're trying to juggle what you're dealing with in life with what you're dealing with at work," he said.

"Having to do promotion which was part of the job you have to let people know what you're doing but then people want to know what's happening at home."

The former talk show host went on to say that details about Belinda's health were reserved only for close friends and family, as he felt a lot of people asking about her wellbeing were now asking out of genuine concern.

"It's none of your business what's happening at home, I'm not here to talk about what's happening at home," he said.

"There are people who are like 'I need to know so I can write it down and tell people, or take it out of context, or make that key piece out of this whole chat that we've had'."

The star explained that he'd respond to questions about his late wife with very brief answers or no answers all together.

"I'd just shut down," he added.

"People were told that there's legitimate no-go zones and if you don't respect that then you understand that maybe the response you get is not going to be a good one, and that's a roll of the dice you take."

Belinda Emmett sadly passed away after her battle with cancer in 2006.

Rove then remarried in 2009, and he and his wife Tasma Walton have been happily married ever since.

“I know you will recover”: Mark Bouris' candid confession

Mark Bouris has revealed he was forced to sell his house due to soaring interest rates.

The Australian entrepreneur and mortgage expert made the frank admission on TikTok, admitting he had no other option that to sell his own home after being crippled by skyrocketing interest rates in the 1990s, and that it was “heartbreaking” to see “history repeating itself”.

The former Celebrity Apprentice host began the candid video by saying he had only ever witnessed one other period of brutal economic conditions similar to today’s, in 1990, when the official cash rate hit a staggering 17.5 per cent: just 12 months before Australia was plunged into a devastating recession.

“It was 1990. I had a wife, I had four kids, and I had to sell my house,” he said.

“Telling my wife that I had to sell the house was the worst thing that I had to confront. Packing my family up was additionally really bad."

“My friends could see that I had to sell my house, and I felt embarrassed. And I have to tell you, I was really angry."

“I was angry at the time with the government, because the government jacked up rates, therefore the banks jacked up rates as well, and I was forced to sell.”

He continued by adding that, “This stuff happens, and it happens in cycles, but the last time it happened was in 1990, and it happened to someone like me”.

“I know you will recover. If you have to sell, you have to sell."

“Don’t worry about it, your family, your partners, your friends, they’ll understand, don’t feel embarrassed.”

He finished the video by encouraging anyone who was “confronting this position right now” to reach out, and provided his own email.

Just days later, he followed it up with an Instagram video, revealing he had been inundated with responses that “actually breaks my heart to be frank”.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Mark Bouris (@mark_bouris)

“I’ve got to be honest with you I didn’t anticipate the response,” he wrote in the caption.

“I knew it’d be big but woah. All these messages just highlight the failure of the government and RBA.”

He revealed he was struggling to keep up with the emails, but promised he did “give a damn” and that he would do what he could to help out those in difficult positions.
