<p>Australia Post is urging all Australians to send their Christmas gifts and cards by mid-December at the latest as record volumes of parcels threaten to create delays.</p> <p>The postal service said 2021 has already seen volume records broken, with this year’s Christmas expected to be the biggest on record for the nation’s couriers and postal workers.</p> <p>With many state boarders still closed and online shopping showing no sign of slowing down, Australia post is anticipating parcel traffic to be extremely high. The organisation has hired more than 4000 Christmas casuals to cope with demand.</p> <p>To ensure Christmas gifts and cards arrive on time, Australia Post has set the following deadlines:</p> <ul> <li>All parcels sent via regular post must be sent by Monday December 13th.</li> <li>All parcels sent via express post must be sent by Monday December 20th.</li> <li>All Christmas cards should be sent by Thursday December 16th.</li> </ul> <p>Customers in Perth, Darwin and regional areas are advised to send their gifts and cards even earlier than the recommended deadlines to avoid disappointed.</p> <p>Australia Post's Executive General Manager of Business and Government, Gary Starr, said the service has been preparing for a bumper Christmas for weeks.</p> <p>"We're seeing record parcel volumes with more than 5.9 million households shopping online a month — that's more than half of all Australian households, and it's showing no signs of slowing as we head into the online sales season and Christmas," Mr Starr said.</p> <p>"That is why we've planned ahead with extra air freight capacity, weekend deliveries and recruitment of thousands of new team members to ramp up our delivery services, parcel sorting and customer care, and we'll be delivering right up until Christmas Eve.</p>

Australia Post imposes strict deadline for Christmas deliveries

<p>Consumers are being urged to make online purchases well before the end of November to ensure gifts they intend to send arrive in time for Christmas.</p> <p>Australia Post has set a deadline of December 12 to guarantee parcels will be delivered before Christmas Day and December 19 as the guarantee for Express Post deliveries.</p> <p>Usually Australia Post delivers packages within two to three business days in metropolitan areas, but due to the pandemic and the increase in online shopping, the timeline has been forced to change.</p> <p>State-wide lockdowns throughout the year also wreaked havoc when it came to timely deliveries.</p> <p>It also meant more people chose to shop online rather than in-store.</p> <p>Consumers also need to make sure their online purchase arrives well before December 12 so they have enough time to forward it on.</p> <p>In August, Australia Post delivered 600,000 more parcels than for the same month last year and the expectation that some interstate borders will remain closed until the end of the year, Australia Post is expecting its busiest festive season yet.</p> <p>“We are encouraging people to plan their Christmas shopping early,” Mr Starr said.</p> <p>“There will be lots going on in November with sales like Black Friday, and people will want to take advantage of the sales.</p> <p>“We are hiring 4000 more people to help us through what we know will be our busiest Christmas ever we’ve ever seen in terms of online shopping.”</p> <p>He said letters to the North Pole need to be posted by November 26 to give Santa enough time to reply before Christmas.</p>

Aussies rush to claim refund before September 30 deadline

<p>NSW drivers could be owed up to $120 which could be theirs almost instantly – but time is running out.</p> <p>The NSW Government is offering a refund scheme on compulsory third party (CTP) green slips for those residing or have their car registered in the state.</p> <p>If eligible, motorists can claim up to $120, but the deadline is quickly looming as you have till September 30.</p> <p>So far, the NSW Government have refunded close to $195 million to 3,234,862 policyholders.</p> <p>Speaking to<span> </span><a rel="noopener" href="https://www.news.com.au/finance/money/costs/aussies-rush-to-claim-refund-before-september-30-deadline/news-story/c38defeccc35d58286701152e0d7e738" target="_blank"><em>news.com.au</em></a>, NSW Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello urged all those eligible to claim their money.</p> <p>“Vehicle owners have just one week left to claim their refund worth up to $120.
