Queen Elizabeth’s 21st birthday speech edited in Harry and Meghan doco

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new documentary has edited the Queen’s 21st birthday speech to give it a completely new meaning.

The first three episodes of the Sussexes new documentary Harry and Meghan have now aired on Netflix.

And now voice coach Susie Ashfield has pointed out that in the first episode, the Queen's speech – in which she says “whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and to the service of our great Imperial family to which we all belong” – is included.

Then she takes viewers to episode three, in which the Queen’s speech has been edited, giving it a completely new meaning.

“I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to the service of our great Imperial family to which we all belong.”

She shared another video showing glaring edits of the late Monarch titled: “The Queen Vs Netflix. Spot the difference…”.

“I wasn't going to say anything about the Harry and Meghan Netflix documentary because it's nothing to do with me,” she said.

"I'm a communications coach. I help people make speeches."

“But I really like speeches, which is why when somebody told me about some potential editing that might have happened on the Queen's 21st birthday speech. I had to check it out.

“So let's play a game together. Spot the difference,” she said, before showing part of the Queen's unedited speech.

“I should like to make that dedication now, it is very simple,” Queen Elizabeth II is heard saying.

“I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service, and to the service of our great Imperial family to which we all belong.”

Susie then points out: “That was the original, unedited copy and the transcript reads the same. Now let's look at Harry and Meghan's version."

The Queen’s voice is then heard saying: “I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to the service of our great Imperial family to which we all belong.

“Did you hear the difference?" asks Susie. "And did you notice how just removing a few words changes the meaning of the statement entirely?"

The words 'to your service and' were edited out of the Queen's speech.

“I don't know what the lesson to learn is here, but I suppose if you are going to be speaking and it will be recorded there is a chance you will get misquoted, your words might get taken out of context or in this case some part might be removed to change the meaning of the statement itself.

“So try not to let that happen to you. And if it does happen to you, remember there will be some people out there who might notice.”

Images: TikTok/Getty

New Netflix doco narrated by AI-generated Andy Warhol

A new documentary about artist Andy Warhol will resurrect the art world icon through artificial intelligence.

Following a controversial trend amongst filmmakers, the artist will be heard reading through his diary entries and discussing his successful art career.

The voice will not be that of the real artist, but rather created to mimic his voice through artificial intelligence technology.

Warhol, who died in 1987, had an extensive impact on the art world with his famous pop art movement and his Campbell soup cans collections.

Andrew Rossi, who created the upcoming The Andy Warhol Diaries series, undertook this unusual measure with the Andy Warhol Foundation to have their permission to create the series with his AI-generated voice, according to the recently released trailer.

The series also portrays the AI-generated narration as something Warhol himself would’ve wanted.

In recent years, many filmmakers have relied on AI technology to recreate the voice of a deceased person for a biographical documentary.

Last year, AI was used to recreate Anthony Bourdain’s voice for Roadrunner and to reconstruct footage of the Beatles producing their album Let It Be for the three-part series Get Back.

Though generally seen as technically impressive, this usage of AI has provoked debate about the ethics of utilising the technology to “resurrect” dead figures, and generated questions about the truth-telling quality commonly associated with documentary filmmaking.

You can check out the trailer for The Andy Warhol Diaries below.

It’s just sad that this money issue would get in the way of them actually being able to have good friends.”

Meanwhile, Blanket’s 20-year-old sister Paris has spoken up in the wake of the documentary.

“Injustices are frustrating and it’s easy to get worked up,” she wrote on Twitter.

“But reacting with a calm mind usually is more logical than acting out of rage.”

i didn’t mean to offend by expressing that titties should be calm, i know injustices are frustrating and it’s easy to get worked up. but reacting with a calm mind usually is more logical than acting out of rage and also.... it feels better to mellow out.
— Paris-Michael K. But when you’re actually there in that atmosphere and you’re around it, and you’re watching movies with his kids, it’s very innocent.”

Michael’s brother Marlon also refuted the claims made in the doco.

“I want them to understand and know that this documentary is not telling truth,” he said. “There has not been not one piece of evidence that corroborates their story.”

Have you watched the Leaving Neverland documentary? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.

Richard Wilkins’ son spent 10 days homeless for new doco

Christian Wilkins, the son of Nine’s entertainment host Richard Wilkins, says he has a new appreciation for his privilege after living “homeless” on the streets of Melbourne.

As part of an SBS documentary series Filthy Rich and Homeless, Wilkins spent 10 days experiencing life on the street.

"The isolation of the people who experience homelessness every day is overwhelming," he told The Daily Telegraph. "It made me acknowledge how lucky I am."

Wilkins was stripped of his ID, mobile, money and was given used clothing and a sleeping bag.

"My dad was especially nervous," Christian said. "He was down in Melbourne one day and he was contemplating walking around the streets trying to find me."

The series aims to raise awareness about the plight of Australia’s 100,000 homeless population.

Along with Wilkins, the series also features rich and privileged Australians such as millionaire Tim Guest, the daughter of boxing champion Jeff Fenech, beauty entrepreneur Jellaine Dee, and pub baron Stu Laundy.

Wilkins says he left the documentary with a newfound understanding of the difficult life of homeless people. He says at one point he “broke down” and frantically used a pay phone to turn to his mum, Richard's ex-wife Michelle Burke, for help.

The aspiring model said most of all he takes comfort in his family for their acceptance and love.

"It's insane how some of us just seem to be lucky."

Filthy Rich and Homeless premieres on SBS on 27 June at 8.30pm.

New doco proves over-60s are the real style-setters

Examining the lives of seven uber-fabulous over-60 New Yorkers whose eclectic personal style and vital spirit guides their approach to ageing, this already internationally acclaimed film is a sellout.

Based on the popular blog – Advance Style – byAri Seth Cohen who has been blogging his photos of stylish older women since 2008, he teamed up with filmmaker Lina Plioplyte to turn the blog into a documentary.

Capturing the spirit of women aged between 62 and 95, Advanced Style screened to sellout audiences at the Melbourne International Film Festival in August, premiered in New York on September 26 and was released at select cinemas in Australia on October 2 (see details below).

Mr Cohen started photographing stylishly dressed when he moved to New York City. "It was all my grandmother's fault," he laughs. "She was just this wonderful, giving, fashionable, interesting woman."

Growing up in sunny California, Mr Cohen's says his grandmother was his best friend with whom he loved to spend time with going through her old scrap books and watching old movies together. "I learned everything from her, I learned about aesthetics, I learned how to be a good person."

The blogger’s grandmother was also the one who encouraged him to move to the big apple. "If you want to be creative, move to New York," he says. So in 2008 he took that advice and it wasn’t long before he encountered a number of "incredibly dressed, eccentric, outrageous, classic" older people on the streets of New York. "I started taking their photos and I started the blog."

It was around that time that he met filmmaker, Lina Plioplyte, in a coffee shop, who had also only recently moved to New York City.

“Lina Plioplyte, director of the film, and I met six years ago when I first moved to NYC,” Mr Cohen explains, continuing, “She was working at a coffee shop and we admired one another's crazy mix of paisley and tropical patterns and I asked if we could be friends. I told her that I wanted to start a blog where I photographed some of the most stylish, vital, and interesting older people in New York and she told me that she was just about to start a position at a fashion magazine making videos. Lina and I ran into each other about a month later at a gallery. She had been seeing my posts on Advanced Style and asked if she could make a few videos of the ladies for my blog. We started with Debra Rapoport and interviewed her about her style. From there we moved on to Tziporah and Ilona and quickly realized that these videos were about much more than just style. The ladies began to open up to us and share their lives and secrets to their incredible vitality. Lina and I became so captivated by their stories that we couldn't stop filming.”

Mr Cohen said the women he features in his photographs serve as an inspiration for people who want to feel good about themselves. "The film, the blog, my book, they're really about style - personal style and lifestyle," he told 774 ABC Melbourne's Rafael Epstein. "These women dare to be bold but that's their personal style. It's really about how they live their lives."

Drawing a distinction between style, which is personal, and the global fashion industry, Mr Cohen thinks the "The fashion world is scary," he reveals. "It doesn't include older people and it doesn't include people of different weights, and it doesn't include people of different races.”

Lithuanian born, Ms Plioplyte, who started working on this film at 25, said American culture is "all about anti-ageing, firming, tightening, thinner, younger," she says. When she began work on the doco she revealed that she’d "already started worrying about getting older," but wonderfully, the women in the documentary became mentors for her. "These women were just flaunting their styles and not hiding at all," she smiles.

Interestingly, while the film is definitely a celebration of the women it features, it’s not a picture of sunshine and roses. "It was really important not to make only a purely positive film," said Ms Plioplyte. And then Mr Cohen explains that the women in the film were competitive. "If Lina didn't show that I don't think the audience would respond to the film as being honest," he said.

The women in the film have a vain side too and that shows, but it is that pride that makes them so vital in their old age. "That self confidence shows in the way that they present themselves to the world."

Despite the women's individual eccentricities, Mr Cohen hopes the women in the film are as inspirational to other people as his grandmother was to him.
