DIY donut rug project

For a project that you and your grandchildren will love, you have to make this fun and colourful DIY donut rug.

You will need:

Spray paint

Acrylic paint

Tape

Paint brushes

Round Ikea rug

Circle to trace

Craft knife

Craft paper

How to:

Lay out newspaper to work upon.

Using a plate or any circular object, trace a circle into the middle of the rug. Using your craft knife, cut it out.

Use your craft paper to create the stencil for the wiggly design of the icing. Cover the rug with the craft paper and cut out a wavy icing design, leaving a few cm of paper remaining on the perimeter that will stay brown.

Use weighted objects from around the house to hold down the paper. Spray paint your icing on using several layers. Let dry.

Using your tape, create rectangular sprinkle stencils. Paint them in using a paint brush and acrylic paint. Remove stencils and let dry.

If desired, cut out a “bite mark” using your craft knife or leave donut intact.
