<p>AFL star Jacob Weitering has tied the knot with his partner Isabel Khan in a surprise wedding on Friday. </p> <p>The pair went public with the news two days after the biggest celebration of their lives at Quat Quatta in Melbourne. </p> <p>Isabel posted several photos and videos on Instagram, with the caption "The best day of my life." </p> <p>Weitering's team-mate Sam Docherty and his partner Natalie played a big role in the day, with Natalie posting several videos on her Instagram story of the newlyweds after the ceremony. </p> <p>In a separate post, Docherty wrote: "Celebrating the Weiterings.</p> <p>"Congratulations on pulling off the surprise of the year honoured to share in your special day." </p> <p>Isabel replied "Couldn't have done it without you."</p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; Aussies urged to claim share of $241 million in unpaid Medicare benefits

<p>More than 930,000 Australians are owed their share of $241 million in unclaimed Medicare benefits. </p> <p>The unpaid Medicare benefits have been withheld from recipients who have not updated their bank details, the Department of Social Services said on Thursday.</p> <p>The average Australian is owed about $260 each, but 200 Australians are owed more than $10,000. </p> <p>Young people seem to be owed the most, with more than $52m owed to more than 224,000 Aussies aged between 18 and 24. </p> <p>“Once you update your details, Services Australia will pay your unpaid benefits within three days,” National Disability Insurance Scheme and Government Services minister Bill Shorten said.</p> <p>He added that it takes less than a minute for the average person with a myGov account linked to Medicare to check and update their bank details. </p> <p>Those owed money are being notified directly through their myGov inbox. </p> <p>“Services Australia is in the process of sending over half a million notifications to people’s myGov inbox asking them to update their details,” Shorten said.</p> <p>He added that in the last financial year, Services Australia paid nearly $30bn in Medicare benefits, and since December 2023, they have reunited over half a million Australians with $117 million in unpaid benefits. </p> <p>“We know a bit of extra money is always welcome in the lead up to the holidays – so there’s no better time than now to check if your bank details with Medicare are current, and if you have any unpaid benefits," Shorten said. </p> <p>“With everyone doing it tough due to cost of living, this is good news for nearly a million Aussies from all walks of life all over Australia.”</p> <p><em>Image: Shutterstock</em></p> <p> </p>

Surprising cost of King Charles' Aussie dinner item

<p>While royal fans have expressed their excitement over King Charles and Queen Camilla's trip to Australia, others weren't as happy with how much <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/finance/money-banking/king-charles-97k-arrival-gift-slammed-as-waste-of-money" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taxpayer money</a> is being splashed out on the visit. </p> <p>The royals touched down in Sydney on Friday, and with members of the public questioning the cost of the monarch's visit, the cost of the wine selection for their dinner with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Jodie Haydon on Monday have been revealed - and it's surprisingly affordable. </p> <p>All five wines on the menu were under $40. </p> <p>The royal selection included:</p> <ul> <li>Josef Chromy Sparkling NV (RRP $32.99)</li> <li>Hentley Farm Eden Valley Riesling (RRP $28)</li> <li>Hentley Farm Barossa Shiraz (RRP $36.50)</li> <li>Castelli Silver Series Chardonnay (RRP $25)</li> <li>Cape Mentelle Marmaduke Cabernet Sauvignon (RRP $21.99)</li> </ul> <p>David Moulton, Chief Winemaker at Margaret River winery Cape Mentelle, told <em>Yahoo Lifestyle </em>that it was "really exciting" to have their wine on the list. </p> <p>“We received a picture message of the menu, and it worked its way across the entire business - it brought such a positive energy to the team,” he told the publication. </p> <p>“The door is always open to the King next time he wants to venture out of NSW and visit us here in Margaret River, so long as the door is open to Cape Mentelle to serve our wines in the palace!”</p> <p>However, the beer selection at the Federal government’s Parliamentary Reception was slammed online, with the selections being: Great Northern, Great Northern zero alcohol, and Furphy.</p> <p>“Good to see a couple of WA wineries in the wine selection. But those beer selections are horrendous,” one said. </p> <p>Another quipped: “LOL Great Northern… may as well gone all out and had VB and Carlton Draft." </p> <p>“As well as crap beer, the wine list is very much on the budget side. Millions of Aussies eligible for free holidays

<p>Millions of Australians are set to be eligible for free holidays under a new initiative by the Victorian government in an attempt to ease cost-of-living pressures. </p> <p>From December, any Aussies wishing to embark on a camping trip in Victoria will have all their booking fees waived. </p> <p>Camping will be free at all 131 of Parks Victoria’s paid campgrounds from December 1st 2024, until June 30th 2025, saving families an estimated $7.3 million in booking fees, according to the state government.</p> <p>Those who have already booked a camping trip before the promotion's commencement date will still have the offer honoured, with full refunds available online.</p> <p>Premier Jacinta Allan said in the lead up to the festive season, every family deserves a holiday that won't break the bank. </p> <p>"Busy families deserve a great holiday in our great outdoors – and this summer, they can stay for free," she said. Mother helps raise over $1 million for her children ahead of her death

<p>A single mother from America has left an enduring financial legacy to her two young children in the weeks before her untimely death. </p> <p>Erika Diarte-Carr, 30, started a <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-erika-and-her-children-with-funeral-expenses" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GoFundMe</a> page after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer in order to cover costs of her own funeral, as well as providing funds to raise her two kids,  Jeremiah, 7, and Aaliyah, 5.</p> <p>After setting the fundraising goal for $5,000 USD, generous members of her community spread the word of her selfless actions, with the fundraiser now reaching over $1.7 million USD and counting. </p> <p>Titled “Support Erika: A Mother planning her own funeral”, the page has garnered more than 38,000 individual donations.</p> <p>The page reads, “Dear family, friends and to all of those of you who may or may not know know me..."</p> <p>“My name is Erika Diarte-Carr. I am 30 years old and a single mother of two beautiful children. Jeremiah (7) and Aaliyah (5). ❤️ They are my whole life, light and soul. My children are my fight and what keep me going.”</p> <p>The mother then shared the tragic details of her cancer journey, as she recalled being diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer in May 2022 after presenting for “normal shoulder surgery”.</p> <p>“By that point, the damage had already been done. In that moment, mine and my kids’ entire lives had changed forever, as well as all of those around us,” she wrote.</p> <p>On top of her cancer diagnosis, Erika was hit with another blow in January 2024 as she was diagnosed with Cushing's Syndrome, which resulted in rapid weight gain, Type 2 diabetes, and further debilitating symptoms the mother claimed had “taken so much away” from her family.</p> <p>The page was updated in mid-September upon advice Ms Diarte-Carr had just three months to live and that treatments would “no longer help”.</p> <p>The mother added to the GoFundMe page how the excess funds would be allocated, writing, “For anyone’s concern, all the funds that have exceeded my funeral costs goal will be now put into a trust fund for my babies that way I can leave behind something for them and I can still ensure they are going to be ok as they grow up."</p> <p>On October 4th, the mother thanked donors and announced she and her family were able to take one final trip together hoping to leave her kids with “memories that’ll last a lifetime”.</p> <p>Just days later, Erika's cousin shared a post to social media to announce that Erika had passed away on October 12th.</p> <p>“It is with a heavy heart that this is the final update I will be giving for my cousin Erika,” she wrote on Facebook.</p> <p>“She fought a long and hard battle. The surprising unknown road rule that is costing drivers

<p dir="ltr">A woman has issued a warning to Aussie drivers after being threatened with a hefty fine for a common car decoration. </p> <p dir="ltr">Janelle McEvoy, a young woman from Perth, took to TikTok to recall the moment she learned that she could be facing a fine for having an air freshener hanging from her car’s rear view mirror. </p> <p dir="ltr">“I randomly got breath tested on the way to an event this morning and the police officer told me when I get home I need to remove this hanging from my car to avoid the $100 fine and the demerit point,” she said in her TikTok video, which has since had nearly 2 million views. </p> <p dir="ltr">“Doesn’t everyone have one of these hanging from their car? Where is it supposed to go?”</p> <p dir="ltr">Thousands of people flocked to the comments on the video to share their surprise over the obscure road rule, with one person writing, “The way my jaw dropped when you showed what it was cause I bought the exact same thing not too long ago.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Another added, “That’s crazy, I have like four air fresheners and two crystal chains hanging from my car.”</p> <p dir="ltr">The rule, which varies between states, can carry fines and possibly the loss of demerit points, if a police officer deems that the driver’s vision is obstructed from whatever is hanging from the mirror.</p> <p dir="ltr">In NSW, drivers without a clear view of the road can be fined $410 fine and have three demerit points issued.</p> <p dir="ltr">In other Aussie states, the fine for obstructed vision can range between $100 and $361. </p> <p><em>Image credits: Shutterstock </em></p>

Former Today Show host's surprise return

<p>It's been almost two months since Brooke Boney wrapped up her final <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/entertainment/tv/today-show-star-s-teary-farewell" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Today Show</em></a>, and bid farewell to viewers after five years on the show to further her studies at Oxford University in the UK. </p> <p>The former news and entertainment presenter made a surprise return to the Today show on Thursday morning, sharing updates on her latest adventure to hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo. </p> <p>Since settling in London, she was a guest at a reception held by none other than King Charles and Queen Camilla. </p> <p>The royals hosted a luncheon for Commonwealth countries at St James Palace, and the event was attended by other high-profile Aussies such as Cate Blanchett and Kathy Lette. </p> <p>"It was so wonderful, you go there and the whole experience is pretty surreal," the proud Gamilaroi Gomeroi woman told the<em> Today</em> hosts.</p> <p>"And I think especially as an Aboriginal person, it's like, oh how do I engage with this?' You look at the quality of players were have in the game, to be up there is a real honour. I am very humbled.”</p> <p>Warbrick said he was inspired to perform the haka for Hughes after witnessing similar scenes at the 2018 Dally M awards and wanted to follow suit. </p> <p>“I was a bit nervous. I just wanted to show my respect to Jahrome and acknowledge him,” Warbrick said. “We both have Maori culture, that’s what it’s all about."</p> <p>“It was just off the cuff, I’m glad a couple of boys jumped in with me to make it look better. Aldi's surprise new business move

Lotto winner loses $1 million prize

<p>A mystery Lotto winner has forfeited their million-dollar winnings after failing to collect their prize money for an entire year. </p> <p>The ticket was purchased from a BP petrol station in Mawson Lakes, in North Adelaide, on September 27th 2023, but wasn't claimed before passing the one-year expiration date. </p> <p>According to The Lott spokeswoman Anna Hobdell, the lucky winner could've claimed their seven-figure prize simply by registering their ticket to a player card or online.</p> <p>"It's likely our mystery winner has (been) going about their year as normal with no idea they became an overnight millionaire more than a year ago," she said.</p> <p>"If the mystery winner had registered their ticket to a player card or online, they would have already been united with their million-dollar treasure."</p> <p>Ms Hobdell said any prize that goes unclaimed for a year will be forfeited to the Lotteries Commission of South Australia.</p> <p>She went on to say that the winner could still claim their $1 million, but would need to submit their ticket, a prize claim form and an ex-gratia statutory declaration form with the commission.</p> <p>"This also serves as an important reminder to register your tickets," Ms Hobdell said.</p> <p><em>Image credits: Shutterstock </em></p>

Edwina Bartholomew's surprise return after cancer news

<p>In a heartwarming moment, beloved <em>Sunrise</em> presenter Edwina Bartholomew made her much-anticipated return to the breakfast show after <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/sunrise-star-announces-cancer-diagnosis-live-on-air" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sharing her cancer diagnosis</a> live on air earlier this month.</p> <p>On Friday, Bartholomew joined the team live from Melbourne as <em>Sunrise</em> geared up for the AFL Grand Final between the Sydney Swans and Brisbane Lions. Radiating positivity, she shared her excitement at being back on the show.</p> <p>"I’m so well rested," she beamed. "I’ve had a huge, gigantic warm embrace from <em>Sunrise </em>viewers, and I didn’t want to miss today."</p> <p>Bartholomew’s love for the AFL Grand Final and her <em>Sunrise</em> family brought her back to the desk, with her characteristic humour intact. “I wanted to be back in time, not just for the mini jaffles, but to see you all and be here for the wonderful week in Melbourne,” she quipped.</p> <p>Hosts Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington welcomed her back with open arms. “Good to have you back,” Barr said warmly, while Shirvington added, “Great to be back.”</p> <p>In early September, Bartholomew tearfully revealed to viewers that she had been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia after a routine blood test. Despite the diagnosis, her positive outlook has been inspiring. "It's a good kind of cancer, it can be treated with a daily tablet. If I take care of myself, I will be completely fine," she reassured viewers.</p> <p>Bartholomew has been spending time with her family, including husband Neil Varcoe and their two young children, Molly, 4, and Tom, 2. While she plans to ease back into work, she’s expected to appear only a few days a week.</p> <p>Her return brought a wave of support from viewers, who had sent well-wishes throughout her time off. Bartholomew expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of love. “I feel very lucky,” she said. <p>King Charles has given a woman "the surprise of her life" for her 87th  birthday. </p> <p>Alice Ryce was visiting Dumfries House for her special day, when she bumped into the monarch who was walking around the grounds. </p> <p>The sweet interaction happened last week, but was only just shared to social media on Tuesday, and showed the birthday girl chatting with His Majesty. </p> <p>"Whilst enjoying a visit to the estate, which is open to the public, Alice unexpectedly met His Majesty, who was delighted to share in her special day," the caption in the video read. </p> <p>"The King was in Ayrshire to support the work of The King's Foundation, headquartered at Dumfries House. Millions of Aussies to receive cash boost as welfare payments rise

<p>Millions of Australians who rely on welfare payments will receive a much needed cash boost as of Friday, thanks to an indexation boost. </p> <p>Recipients of the age and disability pensions, rent assistance, carer payments, and JobSeeker payments will all receive the increase. </p> <p>Age pensioners, as well as those on the disability pension and carer payments, will see an increase of $28.10 a fortnight for singles and $42.40 a fortnight for couples.</p> <p>This boost will take the total payment per fortnight, including energy supplement, to $1114.40 for singles and $862.60 for each member of a couple.</p> <p>Maximum rates of Commonwealth rent assistance will also be increased by 10 per cent from today, with indexation applied on top, as single recipients, with no children, renting on their own, and receiving the maximum rate will get an additional $23 per fortnight in rent assistance.</p> <p>For families with one or two children, their payment will increase by $27.02 per fortnight.</p> <p>Single JobSeeker recipients with an assessed partial capacity to work of zero to 14 hours per week will move to the higher rate of JobSeeker, receiving $849.50 a fortnight (including the energy supplement and pharmaceutical allowance).</p> <p>"This indexation will deliver timely boosts to people receiving allowance payments and pensions, ensuring that these vulnerable cohorts have more money in their pockets for everyday expenses," Social Services Minister Amanda Rishworth said.</p> <p>A full breakdown of the payment changes <a title="can be found here" href="http://www.dss.gov.au/about-the-department/benefits-payments/previous-indexation-rates" target="_blank" rel="noopener">can be found here</a>.</p> <p><em>Image credits: Shutterstock </em></p>

Sam Mac's surprising career move after becoming a father of two

<p>Sam Mac has announced a surprising career move after becoming a father of two. </p> <p>The <em>Sunrise</em> weatherman has released a heartwarming children's picture book titled <em>Suddenly One</em>, inspired by his now two-year-old daughter Margot. </p> <p>Mac explained on <em>The Morning Show</em> on Tuesday that when Margot turned one, he was inspired by her milestone birthday to write some touching words about his firstborn. </p> <p>“When Margot turned one, you want to celebrate that and all those little moments that happen in that first year so, I just jotted down some thoughts,” Mac explained to Larry Edmur and Kylie Gillies.</p> <p>“(I was on a) long flight to Perth … (and) I thought, ‘Oh, maybe this could be a poem’. So, a few days later I refined it and posted it with some video to match the words and it had over a million views overnight."</p> <p>“It really took me by surprise, and (publishing house) Penguin got in touch and said, ‘We think that this is a universal experience. Everyone gets excited about their little ones and those first milestones. Heritage Aussie number plate to fetch over a million

<p>A South Australian number plate is expected to sell at auction for over a million dollars. </p> <p>The sought-after No. 8 Plate was first issued in 1906 to Arthur Ernest Ayers, the son of South Australian businessman and politician Sir Henry Ayers, the original owner of the Ayers House in Adelaide.</p> <p>The number plate became available for the first time in February this year, with the online auction going live late last month. </p> <p>Almost 1,700 bids have already been made, with the leading bid as of Monday morning at around $1.32 million with the auction closing at 7pm (local time).</p> <p>“It’s very rare and very special,” Historic Plates auctioneer, Stewart Kay, said. </p> <p>The last time the SA Government issued a single digit number plate was in 1985, when plate No. 7 was sold. </p> <p>“These plates are all about the paperwork, so having a set of number plates hanging in grandad’s shed might not necessary confer ownership.”</p> <p>He added that the plate would likely be sold to a prominent Adelaide businessman for around  $1.3 to $1.5 million.</p> <p>This is a record price for a South Australian number plate, with the previous highest being for a SA No. 1 Plate commemorating the Adelaide Grand Prix, which fetched $593,000 in 2020.</p> <p>Kay added that the older the number plate and lower the number, the higher the return expected at auction.</p> <p>“Number plates are a very historic connection back to 120 years ago when they were first issued,” Kay said.</p> <p>“They’re sort of triple threat, they look fantastic on a car, they have a great return in terms of investment and they have a certain level of prestige to them.”</p> <p>Anyone can purchase the rights to a number plate, however the plates can only be affixed to a vehicle that is registered to the state it belongs in. </p> <p>In New South Wales, a No. 1 plate surpassed its $10 million estimate and was sold for $12.4 million in January. </p> <p>Earlier this year, Victoria’s "luckiest" number plate with the number 888-888 sold for an eye-watering $230,000 to an anonymous buyer after it was privately owned for the past 30 years. </p> <p><em>Image: 7News</em></p>

Landmark aged care reforms set to benefit millions of Aussies

<p>The federal government has reached a deal with the coalition for the long-awaited aged care reforms including $4.3 billion for in-home services. </p> <p>This means that senior citizens will be given more support and choice to live their golden years in dignity, as they intend to help them live at home for longer and improve conditions and protections for those in aged care facilities. </p> <p>"$4.3 billion will be invested in Support at Home, to come into effect on the first of July next year," Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced at Parliament House on Thursday. </p> <p>The Support at Home package is expected to help 1.4 million Australians live independently at home with support, before going into aged care by 2035. </p> <p>It will provide support for nursing, occupational therapy and day-to-day tasks like cleaning, showering, dressing and shopping, with wait times for packages cut from 12 to three months. </p> <p>The government will also pay all of the cost of clinical care services, with a lifetime contribution cap of $130,000  for non-clinical care costs.</p> <p>Those using the Support at Home program could also get $25,000 in aid to spend their final three months at home, instead of the hospital. </p> <p>The $5.6 billion reform package is also set to affect the availability of funding for residential aged care, including a "no worse off" assurance that people currently in aged care won't be asked to pay more for their care.</p> <p>New aged care quality standards will also be implemented to improve the sector and drive higher-quality care. </p> <p>The government also promised more resources to investigate and penalise bad behaviour by providers. </p> <p>Albanese said the reforms will be the "greatest improvement" to the aged care sector in 30 years. </p> <p>“This is about caring for the generation that cared for us,” he said. </p> <p>“We will deliver historic aged care reforms to ensure the viability and quality of our aged care system and support the growing number of older Australians choosing to retain their independence and remain in their homes as they age.”</p> <p>Aged Care Minister Anika Wells said the changes would lead to more services for older Australians.</p> <p>“Our reforms will create better and safer care, help reduce the fear of a system that has been neglected for far too long,” she said.</p> <p>The reform has been welcomed as the number of Australians over the age of 65 is expected to double and those older than 85 are predicted to triple in the next four decades. </p> <p><em>Images: Shutterstock</em></p>

"World's biggest" amber nugget worth over $1 million used as doorstop for decades

<p>An elderly woman in Romania has unknowingly used one of the largest known amber nuggets in the world - worth over €1 million ($1.6 million) - as her doorstop for decades. </p> <p>The woman found the stone in the bed of a stream in Colti, a village in the southeast Romania, and used it as her doorstop for years without realising its value. </p> <p>Members of her family also reported that thieves had once broken into her home, but only stole a few pieces of gold jewelry, missing the seemingly insignificant rock. </p> <p>“In their frantic search for valuables, they overlooked the real treasure that was there before their eyes,” they said.</p> <p>It wasn't until after the woman died in 1991 that a relative who inherited her home suspected the doorstop might be more than meets the eye - and he was right. </p> <p>When he sold the amber to the Romanian state, experts at the Museum of History in Krakow, Poland appraised the rock and found that the amber is likely between around 38 and 70 million years old.</p> <p>“Its discovery represents a great significance both at a scientific level and at a museum level,” Daniel Costache, director of the Provincial Museum of Buzau, told  local news outlet <em>El Pais</em>.</p> <p>The expert also claimed that the amber is one of the largest pieces in the world and the largest of its kind weighing a hefty 3.5-kilograms.</p> <p>It has now been classified as a national treasure of Romania, and can be found in the Provincial Museum of Buzau, where it has been since 2022. </p> <p>Romania is one of the countries with significant deposits of amber, with Buzau County being one of the areas where you can find these beautiful stones in abundance. </p> <p>The protected area also contains the old Stramba amber mine, which was very productive during the first half of the 21st century, before it was shut down by the communist regime as it was considered unprofitable. </p> <p><em>Image: Buzău County Museum</em></p> <p> </p>

Millions warned over huge change to speed cameras

<p>For years, drivers in New South Wales have relied on the point-to-point speed camera rule, which only captures the speed of heavy vehicles, but that rule is set to change as part of a new trial as the state attempts to lower their death toll. </p> <p>The point-to-point, also known as average speed cameras are set to be turned on for all vehicles in two regional locations during the trial. </p> <p>The first location will be 15-kilometre stretch on the Pacific highway between Kew and Lake Innes in Port Macquarie, and the second location will be on the Hume Highway between Coolac and Gundagai, with 16km between the two cameras. </p> <p>“NSW is the only jurisdiction in the world to use average speed cameras but restrict their use to heavy vehicles only,” Roads Minister John Graham said.</p> <p>“In the context of a rising road toll, now is the time to trial these cameras for light vehicles and understand if we can keep more people safe on the road more of the time.”</p> <p>He added that all other states in Australia, as well as the UK and Norway have found the average speed cameras to be effective. </p> <p>“All other mainland Australian states and countries like the UK, Norway, Italy and the Netherlands have found average speed cameras to be effective and we aim to be as rigorous as possible to be sure they will also reduce road trauma in NSW.”</p> <p>“Rather than test your speed at a particular point in time, like a mobile speed camera, these test the speed you’re driving over 15 or 16 kilometres,” he said.</p> <p>“That means it’s a truer reflection of how quickly people are driving.”</p> <p>He added that the trial is focused on regional NSW as it has suffered a disproportionate amount of road fatalities, with six road deaths and 33 serious injuries between 2018 and 2022. </p> <p>“Although only a third of people live in regional New South Wales, that’s where two thirds of the deaths from road crashes happen," he said. </p> <p>Speeding contributed to 44 per cent of NSW road fatalities last year,  three-quarters of which were in the regional parts of the state.</p> <p>The trial will run for six months, and for those caught speeding, they will be given a 60-day warning letter period, before financial and licence penalties kick in.</p> <p><em>Images: news.com.au</em></p>

Sonia Kruger in talks for surprise reboot

There is no reason it won't be as big as MAFS in a couple of years."</p> <p>“The Channel Seven star is yet to hear what the lineup for 2025 will look like if she stays with the network but with Big Brother cancelled there is a hole in her contract that will need to be fixed if she is to be picked up again," they said.</p> <p>Kruger previously left Channel Seven to take on rival network Channel Nine's reboot of Big Brother Australia in 2011,  a move which was considered a "huge risk" at the time. </p> <p><em>Image: Seven</em></p>

Cash boost for millions of Aussies as indexation kicks in

<p>Millions of Australians are set to get a cash boost within weeks as the Services Australia payments are indexed on top of additional increases to Rent Assistance payments, with the changes coming into effect on September 20</p> <p>The indexation will be applied to a range of pensions and payments including the Age Pension, Disability Support Pension and Carer Payments, Commonwealth Rent Assistance, JobSeeker, and Parenting Payments.</p> <p>The indexation increases of up to $41.50 a fortnight will vary based on the payments.</p> <p>Centrelink JobSeeker recipients will receive an extra $71.20 per fortnight. </p> <p>“Single JobSeeker Payment recipients with an assessed partial capacity to work of 0 to 14 hours per week will move to the higher rate of JobSeeker, receiving $849.50 a fortnight,” the Department of Social Services said.</p> <p>The maximum rates of Commonwealth Rent Assistance will be increased by 10 per cent.</p> <p>For families with one or two children, he Rent Assistance fortnightly payment will increase by $27.02.</p> <p>Single age pensioners will see an increase of $28.10 to their fortnightly payments, and recipients in a couple will receive a combined $42.40 increase to their payments.</p> <p>The same increase will apply to the Disability Support Pension and Carer Payment.</p> <p>Single recipients receiving the fortnightly Parenting Payment will  receive a $19.80 increase, while single recipients without children will get a $15.30 boost. </p> <p><em>Image: Shutterstock</em></p>
