Aussie cricket legend Michael Clarke has given his social media followers a chuckle with a self-deprecating update post from Noosa.

The post comes three months after his scuffle with Karl Stefanovic at the Queensland tourist hotspot that made headlines nationwide.

Over the Easter long weekend Clarke returned to the scene of the spat which went viral online, but this time the post saw him with family members as he was off from his hosting duties on the Big Sports Breakfast morning radio show.

He posted a sweet family photo, including his daughter, Kelsey Lee, 7, and his mother Debbie.

Clarke made fun of himself in the post, pairing the image with the caption, “Back in Noosa, a little more wholesome this time,”
<blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; Fans poke fun at The Block’s Scott Cam over home project

The Block’s grand finale reveals are hitting TV screens this week, however it seems the contestants’ hard work has inspired host Scott Cam to get out his own tool kit.

The carpenter and TV personality took to Instagram to share he too was getting handy around his home.

The tradie was photographed leaning against a semi-built structure, with his tool belt firmly strapped around his waist.

Fans couldn’t help but to poke at Scotty for spending his weekend working on his own house.

“Call me a sceptic but I’m thinking of checking with [your wife] Ann…”, Channel Nine host Leila McKinnon commented.

“What??? A tradie working on his own home.... rare sight,” one person said,

“Bet your wife has waited years for you to finish this project. Lol,” said another, while a third wrote, “That's unheard of - you sure are one of a kind Scotty Cam.”

Scotty has had a busy season on The Block and will surely be relieved to say “tools down” for the last time this year.

The most recent saga that we saw on TV screens was when the host had to play hardball with blockheads Tess and Luke.

He angrily warned the contestants to “finish the bloody house,” before storming off after they complained about their rival team member’s financial situation.

The couple confronted Scott over Mitch and Mark being $10,000 in debt.

“[Mitch and Mark] have been able to do all these amazing things like put speakers in the ceilings whereas we’ve reeled it in big time. If we weren’t keeping track of our invoices, we could’ve won other rooms too,” Tess argued.

A frustrated Luke complained, “How’s that fair on everyone else?”

However, the TV host was not having a bar of it, snapping back “They weren’t going into the red four weeks ago when you guys were. And you’re now in a better position than them.

“At the end of the day, we did you a favour.”

Polar bear pokes head through port hole

In something of a Goldilocks moment, Norwegian scientists on board an Arctic research vessel were recently surprised to find an adult polar bear sniffing out their boat-cooked waffles.

The wildlife experts were preparing the sweet treats to go with their afternoon coffee when the hungry bear popped its nose through the kitchen porthole.

While some might have been scared of the potentially dangerous predator, the team were so charmed by their curious neighbour that they extended it an offer to tea, handing it a raw fish fillet.

A Reddit user shared the moment his uncle, one of the scientists on the research and expedition vessel, hand-fed the bear, which appeared to be minding its manners, taking a delicate nibble at the fillet.

The boat docks at Tromsø, Norway and typically tours the Arctic, but it has also made its way down under several times to the Antarctic, the Mail Online reports.

In the summer, it's based in Norwegian archipelago Svalbard which, half way to the North Pole, is one of the northernmost areas inhabited by humans. Air New Zealand pokes fun at Qantas in playful video

Air New Zealand has released a video of rival airlines' bosses singing its praises.

The 30 second mashup video features soundbites from American Airlines chief executive Doug Parker and Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce at a recent news conference in New Zealand.

Air New Zealand posted the video to Instagram and Twitter, continuing an online rivalry with Qantas which started with a bet between the competing airlines in the lead up to the Rugby World Cup final between the All Blacks and Wallabies.

The All Blacks victory resulted in Qantas crew members having to wear All Blacks jerseys after losing the bet.

In the latest video Parker and Joyce are heard singing the praises of Air New Zealand's service, brand and safety videos - compliments which made the national carrier "blush".

The footage was taken from a press conference in Wellington earlier in November when American Airlines and Qantas announced a new non-stop service between Auckland and Los Angeles, in direct competition with Air New Zealand.

"The only thing we can't match is that safety video they have with the All Blacks," Parker said at the press conference.

Joyce told media Air New Zealand was "a great company".

"We think Air New Zealand are an extremely well run airline," Joyce said.

Air New Zealand's Twitter handle @FlyAirNZ posted the video, which has since been retweeted 117 times and received 340 likes.

Qantas was quick to respond to the video with a comment on Instagram saying it was "so sweet" how well Air New Zealand had taken news of its alliance with American Airlines.

"We're smiling not blushing about our new LA to NZ services, book here AirNZ customers," Qantas said with a link to its website.

Video credit: Twitter / AirNZ

Written by John Anthony.
