Bruce Willis' daughter shares touching message on his 70 birthday

Bruce Willis, the beloved Hollywood icon known for his legendary roles in Die Hard and Pulp Fiction, is celebrating his 70th birthday! Despite his ongoing battle with frontotemporal dementia, Willis’s family remains steadfast in their love and support, ensuring that this milestone is filled with warmth and joy.

His eldest daughter, Rumer Willis, took to Instagram ahead of the celebration, encouraging fans to send birthday wishes to her father. “He’s doing great, thank you for asking,” she shared during a Q&A session. “It is actually his 70th birthday tomorrow, so please wish my papa a big happy birthday.”

The House Bunny actress has previously spoken about her father’s health, speaking on Loose Women earlier this year, when she expressed her gratitude for their strong familial ties. “Because my family, we’re all so close, I think what’s so beautiful is the way that we rally around each other. (It’s) so lovely because we really are a unit.”

Willis’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, has also been open about the struggles their family has faced since his diagnosis. In a heartfelt interview, she revealed that Bruce’s stuttering – something he had battled since childhood – was initially dismissed as a minor speech impediment rather than a symptom of dementia.

“Bruce has always had a stutter, but he has been good at covering it up,” Emma explained. “So, when he began to experience difficulties with language, it seemed like it was just a part of his stutter. Never in a million years would I think it would be a form of dementia for someone so young.”

As fans around the world send their love and best wishes for Bruce’s 70th birthday, one thing remains clear: Willis’ legacy extends far beyond the silver screen.

Images: Instagram

Prince William shares deeply personal message over fallen war hero

Prince William has shared a deeply personal message in remembrance of John 'Paddy' Hemingway, the last surviving pilot from the Battle of Britain, who passed away on St Patrick's Day at the age of 105.

The Prince of Wales, a former Royal Air Force (RAF) pilot himself, took to social media on Tuesday to express his condolences and gratitude for Hemingway’s service.

"I was sad to hear about the passing of John 'Paddy' Hemingway this morning, the last of 'The Few'," the 42-year-old royal wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. "We owe so much to Paddy and his generation for our freedoms today. Their bravery and sacrifice will always be remembered. We shall never forget them."

Hemingway, born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1919, joined the RAF as a teenager and became one of the young airmen who defended Britain during the pivotal 1940 Battle of Britain. These pilots, immortalised as "The Few" following a famous speech by then-Prime Minister Winston Churchill, played a crucial role in thwarting the German air offensive during World War II.

Churchill’s words – "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few" – have since become a testament to the bravery and sacrifice of Hemingway and his fellow pilots.

I was sad to hear about the passing of John ‘Paddy’ Hemingway this morning, the last of “The Few”. We owe so much to Paddy and his generation for our freedoms today. Their bravery and sacrifice will always be remembered. We shall never forget them. "His courage, and that of all RAF pilots, helped end WWII and secure our freedom. We will never forget their bravery and service. Thank you, John 'Paddy' Hemingway."

King Charles has yet to make a public statement, but RAF Air Chief Marshal Sir Rich Knighton honoured Hemingway’s remarkable legacy, remembering him as "an amazing character" who carried the spirit of camaraderie and bravery throughout his life.

"Paddy always had a twinkle in his eyes as he recalled the fun times with colleagues in France and London," the RAF said in a statement announcing his passing.

Hemingway’s passing marks the end of an era, but his service and sacrifice will live on in history. As the last of 'The Few', he leaves behind a legacy of courage that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Images: Instagram \ Royal Airforce

"Like a bolt out of the blue": Ray Hadley shares sad family news

Veteran broadcaster Ray Hadley has shared heartbreaking news about his three-year-old granddaughter, Lola, who has been diagnosed with leukaemia.

In a deeply emotional video posted to Facebook, the 70-year-old former 2GB radio host revealed that Lola was diagnosed on January 6, describing the moment as "like a bolt out of the blue".

Having spent years supporting charity events as an auctioneer, Hadley is no stranger to the hardships families endure when faced with childhood illness. Now, he and his family are experiencing those challenges firsthand.

“The journey we’ve endured over the last seven weeks has been... I guess, in many parts, agonising, and in other parts, enlightening – enlightening because of the courage and bravery shared by my granddaughter, Lola,” Hadley said in the video.

The toddler faces a tough two-year battle ahead, undergoing intense treatment.

“It’s a two-year battle... this little baby girl has had a lumbar puncture yesterday, that’ll be her seventh, she’s had a biopsy and bone marrow six times all under general anaesthetic,” he explained.

Hadley went on to describe the physical toll on his granddaughter, who is receiving four chemotherapy treatments a week. “She’s got tubes coming out of her left, right and centre... they attacked the leukaemia and the tests came back a week ago which weren’t as good as we hoped, so now they’ve really doubled down,” he said.

As a grandfather of seven, Hadley is fully devoted to supporting Lola through her fight. Reflecting on his retirement from radio late last year, he now believes the timing was meant to be: “I don’t think I believe in fate … but I think that something must have pre-empted my retirement so that I can do what I’m doing now in relation to my granddaughter and my family. Because if I was still working, I wouldn’t have been able to do it.”

Hadley announced his departure from 2GB on December 13, bringing a 43-year career to a close. With his daughter and son-in-law balancing the demands of caring for three children, Hadley has stepped in to help bring some joy to Lola’s days.

“I was with her yesterday …. and she’s got this thing where she likes to trick me,” he said, recounting their playful interactions. “Her favourite thing is (to say) ‘Poppy, you’ve got a spider in your hair’ and I sort of brush my hair, and I say, ‘Where is it? Where is it? Get the spider out’ and then she laughs.

“I don’t know how she handles it, she’s only three.”

For now, Hadley remains focused on what matters most – his family, and ensuring Lola has all the love and support she needs in the fight ahead.

Images: Facebook

Centenarian shares the secrets to a long life

A centenarian has share the few simple things she credits for her long life, just days after celebrating her 100th birthday.

Sydney woman Betty Woodhams spent her milestone birthday doing one of her favourite things: buying for new plants from Bunnings.

Woodhams was treated to a warm reception from staff as she perused the aisles snapping up new flowers for her small balcony garden.

The mother-of-two told Daily Mail Australia that she credits her age and enduring happiness down to great friends, a balanced diet, no regrets and "always wearing a hat".

"Try to stay happy, even when things may seem like they are getting the better of you," Betty told the publication.

"There really is something good in everything. Relaxing with a glass of wine at dinner or enjoying the odd champagne or two with friends always helps too."

Betty grew up in Parramatta before moving to Bondi when she married her late husband Ron in 1951.

The couple then built their dream house in Tambourine Bay, Lane Cove, while Betty immersed herself in her career as a secretary in the TV and publishing industry.

Betty always surrounds herself with good friends, stays socially active and never sweats the small stuff, as she said, "don't get stuck on the negative things".

"It doesn't matter what your age is, there's always something you can do to stay active whether it's walking, gardening, swimming or even a day at the races," she says.

"Age is just a number. We do all age but you choose to get old!"

Betty also hopes to change the perception of "getting older" and insists there's nothing "boring" about it, as she said, "People assume that life gets boring and quiet. It will if you let it!"

"Yes you do slow down but that doesn't mean you stop. You can still get out and enjoy yourself... just at a slower pace!"

Meghan Markle shares rare glimpse of Princess Lilibet

Meghan Markle has shared a rare glimpse of her daughter, Princess Lilibet, as she reintroduces her lifestyle brand under a new name – As Ever.

Following trademark issues with her original brand name, American Riviera Orchard, the Duchess of Sussex officially confirmed the rebranding in a social media post. Accompanying the announcement, a newly launched website prominently features an image of Meghan and Lilibet walking hand-in-hand through a park, seemingly captured by a drone.

This marks the third new image of three-year-old Lilibet shared with the public in just a few months. In December, Prince Harry and Meghan’s private Christmas card included a touching moment of the couple embracing Lilibet and her older brother, Prince Archie, 5. Then, in a tribute video following the passing of Meghan’s beloved rescue Beagle, Guy, fans caught another glimpse of Lilibet in a photo from Meghan’s private album, showing her with Guy in a park. The latest image appears to have been taken on the same day, as Meghan and her daughter are seen wearing similar outfits.

The heartwarming photo aligns with the essence of As Ever, which will offer a variety of products, including Meghan’s homemade jams. In a video accompanying the brand's launch, the Duchess excitedly shared her passion for the venture.

“I think we're all clear at this point that jam is my jam, but there are so many more products that I just love and use in my home, and now it’s time to share them with you,” she said. “I can't wait for you to see it.”

The name As Ever holds special meaning for Meghan’s followers, as it was originally her signature sign-off on her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig. The phrase later appeared on her podcast, Archetypes, and has now been embraced as the identity of her revived business, which coincides with her reactivated Instagram account.

“And if you’ve followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I’ve always loved cooking, crafting and gardening,” she explained. “This is what I do, and I haven’t been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can.”

As Ever is expected to reflect Meghan’s personal style and passions, much like her previous work on The Tig, with a focus on home and lifestyle products.

Images: As Ever / Instagram

Anthony Albanese shares wedding details

Anthony Albanese and his fiancé Jodie Haydon have revealed details of their upcoming wedding for the first time.

Chatting candidly with Australian Women's Weekly, the couple admitted they are planning to tie the knot in a "small, intimate ceremony" in spring after the federal election.

"Our wedding will be a moment when we make that commitment," Haydon told the magazine.

"We're doing it in front of family and loved ones, and I see that as … for us. It's something we're looking forward to — an important and symbolic way to reaffirm our commitment with each other."

Albanese and Haydon are planning on waiting until after the election, which is expected to be held in April or May, to get married in order to not have their big day wrapped up in politics.

The ceremony will not be held in a Catholic church due to Albanese's prior divorce but could be outdoors, Haydon added, with their dog Toto playing a role.

"It will be small, intimate," Haydon said. "Probably a spring wedding."

"Possibly outdoors, in the second half of this year, with our family and loved ones … And you can be sure Toto will make an appearance."

Albanese revealed the moment he decided Haydon was the woman he wanted to marry, and how he decided to propose on Valentine's Day last year.

While gesturing towards the Lodge, the Prime Minister told the reporter, "This will end one day, and the thing about our relationship is that we enjoy spending time together. Just us."

"So, when it became clear to me that Jodie was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, and that I couldn't imagine a life without her, I made the decision."

"She did not die with dignity": Clare Nowland's family share emotional statements

The distraught family of Clare Nowland, who was fatally tasered by a police officer in 2023, have broken down as they shared the devastating impact her death has had on them.

In November last year, Senior Constable Kristian James Samuel White, 34, was found guilty of manslaughter after he discharged his stun gun at the 95-year-old grandmother in a treatment room at Yallambee Lodge aged-care home in the southern NSW town of Cooma during the early hours of May 17th 2023.

After remaining suspended with pay throughout the trial, White was removed from the NSW Police Force days after the verdict was handed down, and is challenging the decision.

White faced the NSW Supreme Court on Friday for a sentencing hearing ahead of the determination of his fate and the future of his career.

Ms Nowland’s eldest son Michael Nowland shared a heartbreaking victim impact statement stating he is still in a state of disbelief following his mother’s tragic death.

“When I was told mum had been tasered by a police officer… I went into a state of shock and asked the question ‘who in their right mind could do this to a frail 95-year-old lady?” he said.

“No one in the (hospital) room could answer this question. How could a human being, let alone a police officer, perform such an inappropriate and inhumane act on a frail old lady who weighed just 45kg?”

Mr Nowland said the more he learned about the incident the more “confused” he felt, as he said, “I will never forgive this officer for tasering and killing my mum."

“Mum did not deserve to have her life end in this manner... she was a caring and dignified lady, but she did not die with dignity.”

Clare Nowland’s daughter Jennifer Nowland said her mother’s death has had a devastating impact on their entire family, including her young grandkids.

She said, “Her three-year-old granddaughter is asking why nanna Clare’s face is on the TV, and if nanna Clare will still get Christmas presents now that she if dead.”

Clare’s other daughter Gemma Murphy glared over at White as she called out his “grotesque” actions and called for justice for all vulnerable Australians.

“I struggle to find solace in a world that feels so unjust…but I seek justice not revenge for mum,” she said.

“She was so much more than just the grandmother that was tasered, she lived her life with purpose and dedication."

“I implore you to reflect on the true cost of this tragedy, my mother’s death should serve as a catalyst for change. We must do better for those who cannot protect themselves."

Kyle Sandilands shares grim new health update

Just days after Kyle Sandilands revealed he has to undergo surgery for a brain aneurysm, the radio star recently found another aneurysm in his chest.

During the Kyle and Jackie O Show, the radio shock jock explained he had been discussing his options with surgeons and specialists when he was told the grim update.

“They found another one in my chest and that’s a separate surgery and I have very bad calcium build-up in the heart where I’m likely to have a heart attack,” he shared.

Sandilands said he has a 25 per cent chance of having a heart attack in the next five years “if I do nothing about that”.

He also revealed that the surgery for the brain aneurysm will involve drilling a large hole in his skull.

"It's in the front right hand side of my brain... they have to drill a hole through my skull the size of a drinking glass, pull that bit of skull out, and go into the brain," he explained.

"They [will] put a titanium clip on the vein where the problem is and then they stitch me up with a plastic surgeon."

"That will mean I have this huge scar from the forehead to top of ear and they would have to drill a hole in my skull, go into the brain and clip it off," he continued.

On the 3rd of February, Sandilands first made his diagnosis public, saying: "I have a brain aneurysm and it requires immediate attention, brain surgery," and that he could need up to eight weeks off the air.

He went on to explain that his brain aneurysm was “not a blockage” but rather a “puncture”.

Image: KIIS FM

Deborra-Lee Furness has broken her silence for the first time since photos emerged of Hugh Jackman's new relationship with his co-star Sutton Foster.

Furness revealed that she feels as though she is now in “chapter three” of her life following her shock split from Jackman in 2023.

Speaking about focusing on her career over her love life, she told the Herald Sun, “I’ve had a few offers for films back here so I’m still reading some scripts so if there’s something that’s great.”

She went on to share that she’ll be taking more time for herself now she’s single and able to focus on herself first.

“I’ve got some projects in New York. I’m in my chapter three. I’m a creative, I love being creative in a variety of areas and I think I’ll be doing more travelling.”

This is the first time she has spoken publicly since her ex-husband debuted his new relationship, although a source allegedly close to Furness said she felt "a sense of relief" when Jackman and Foster's relationship was announced.

The source told the Daily Mail, “She has been plagued with suspicions. She was told it wasn’t true, and that they were nothing more than close friends who worked together. But something in her heart told her that this was not true."

“She trusted her intuition and her intuition was right. She finally feels at ease after getting confirmation that her fears and suspicions were warranted. She can now fully close this chapter and move on.”

Jackman and Furness announced their separation after 27 years of marriage in September 2023.

The former couple have two adult children, Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19.

Dame Judi Dench shares update on her deteriorating health

Dame Judi Dench has revealed she can no longer leave her house by herself due to her worsening eyesight.

The legendary British actress, 90, opened up about her deteriorating health in a candid chat on the Fearless podcast with Trinny Woodall, admitting she must be accompanied by someone everywhere she goes in case she falls over or bangs into something.

Judi said, “Somebody will always be with me; I have to now because I can’t see and I will walk into something or fall over.”

Aside from her declining sight, which is caused by age-related macular degeneration, Judi says she prefers to be supported by others and is “not very good at being on my own”.

She told the podcast host, “I’m always nervous before going to something. I have no idea why...I’m not good at being on my own at all, nor would I be now."

“And fortunately, I don’t have to now because I pretend to have no eyesight,” Judi joked.

In 2024, Dench hinted that her acting career could be over as her worsening eyesight makes it "impossible" to learn lines.

When asked about her career at the Chelsea Flower Show in May, the Oscar winner replied: "No, no, I can't even see!"

Judi, who was diagnosed with macular degeneration in 2012, said she has tried to work “as much as she can” but finds any part “difficult” to play.

She told Express.co.uk, "I have so many friends who will teach me the script. But I have a photographic memory, so I have to know where it is on the page, and that's quite a difficult thing."

"That's what makes it really impossible so far [not knowing exactly where the text is]. But I'll find a way."
