Ivermectin fan Joe Rogan thought an Australian comedy sketch was ‘propaganda’

Former reality TV host and podcaster Joe Rogan shared a video on his Instagram on Monday night, writing, “Not only has Australia had the worst reaction to the pandemic with dystopian, police-state measures that are truly inconceivable to the rest of the civilized world, but they also have the absolute dumbest propaganda.”

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Joe Rogan (@joerogan)

The biggest problem with his caption was that the video was from the satirical ABC show Gruen, and Rogan had just made the embarrassing mistake of being unable to distinguish between satire and reality.

An easy mistake to make for someone who can’t differentiate between human medicine and horse medicine; after contracting COVID-19, Rogan made sure his fans knew that he had included Ivermectin as part of his treatment, despite the FDA confirming it to be ineffective against COVID-19.

This isn't Rogan's first time expressing concern about the plight of innocent Australians who are living in a police state and being force fed dumb propaganda; he told North Korean defector Yeonmi Park that, “There’s some crazy s*** going on right now where the army is trying to keep people inside in Australia."

He continued, "They have full-on government lockdowns where the government is flying helicopters over the streets (and telling people) ‘go back indoors, you’re not allowed to be outside’, which is crazy.”

The Gruen video features a man falling to the floor while having an allergic reaction, and a woman crouched over him, reassuring him while getting ready to use an EpiPen on him. He stops her and asks, “Wait, what brand EpiPen is that?”, “What’s in it?”, “Medicine? How long was it researched for?”, “What are the stats from Europe?”, and, most importantly, and why Rogan posted the video, the man wheezes as his throat is closing up, “What does Joe Rogan say?” before grabbing her by the shoulders, croaking out “Call Joe”, and dying.

To an even slightly informed viewer, it’s an obvious send-up of anti-vaxxers who get their information from increasingly dubious sources like relatives on Facebook, Joe Rogan and other podcasters with no medical or scientific qualifications or expertise, or dodgy websites based in Eastern Europe. To Joe Rogan, it was another example of how the tyrannical Australian government was fighting back against COVID-19, apparently.

A lot of his supporters seemed to also believe the sketch was genuine, with one commenting, “Australia is fine as long as you don’t watch the free TV”, and another, Australian jiujitsu black belt holder Kit Dale, commenting, “Australia has become weak”. Others pointed out that Rogan, who self-identifies as a comedian, should be able to take jokes about him since he’s more than happy to make jokes at the expense of others.

Rogan eventually edited the caption to add, “apparently this is not a real ad. It’s from a satirical show.” Yeah Joe, we know. Thirty seconds of doing your own research would have told you that from the beginning.

The video's creators continue to have a good sense of humour, with Paper Moose CEO Nick Hunter telling 9News.com.au, "Gruen is a satirical show. The point of the video was to talk about some of the issues anti-vaxxers have and put it in a humorous context to show the ridiculousness of what is out there."

"Its literally a demonstration of the problem we are trying to solve in the world today, so it was kind of hilarious that Joe Rogan reacted the way he did."

Image: Michael S. Smash hit Senior Moments returns for sequel with no equal

A show for people who can remember being told the King was dead - that's George, not Elvis.

The Senior Moments gang is back for another bout of hilarity from legendary performers Tony Barber, Max Gillies and Normie Rowe.

These days Australian TV icon Tony Barber of Sale of the Century fame is having more and more “Senior Moments”. So is master satirist Max Gillies (The Gillies Report) and original rock legend Normie Rowe (Les Misérables).

It’s no coincidence. They are appearing as part of the classic cast in the new show that follows the smash hit comedy revue Senior Moments. After wowing more than 55,000 seniors Australia-wide on their national 2019 season, the Senior Moments gang is back with a new show for another national tour in 2020.

Senior Moments 2: Remember, Remember is another 90 minutes of hilarious comedy sketches, songs and inspired senior silliness from a cast old enough to know better.

“The show is suitable for all ages,” says Max Gillies, “As long as that age is in the high double digits or you can remember when we still used pound notes and milk came in glass bottles.”

The gang getting ready for the show

Among the highlights of the show: Tony Barber will be asking the questions in the quiz show sketch “Senior of the Century”. Yes, the senior contestants may be a little slower on the buzzers, and their short-term memory may not be what it used to be, but they still remember when “Boomer” used to be a kangaroo that people liked, not a generation young people blamed for everything.

The show may be called Senior Moments, but Tony still can’t get away with asking the same question twice in a row.

This is a show for people who remember when ‘wireless’ meant the radio, not an internet connection option.

Amongst the silliness, Normie Rowe plans to sing one of his classics, but only if Max Gillies doesn’t sing one of his. But Max has even persuaded Bob Hawke to make a cameo!

The Senior Moments 2 cast also includes Kim Lewis (Sons & Daughters), David Callan (The Goon Show Live) and Dave Gibson (Andrew Denton Breakfast Show) with the shockingly young virtuoso Mitchell Price-Norgaard dazzling on piano.

It’s a second serving of hilarious sketches and wonderfully witty songs performed by legendary show business seniors ageing disgracefully before your eyes.

Senior Moments 2: ‘Remember Remember’ is a seriously funny revue for slightly old people. If that’s you (be honest!) then grab some tickets before you forget!

Senior Moments 2 is touring Australia in Feb-March 2020. Bindi Irwin thankful for “beautiful” bushfire sketch of father Steve

Bindi Irwin has reached out to an Australian artist who created a tribute to more than 500 million animals which have died in the bushfires ravaging the country.

Sharnia-Mae Sturn took to social media last week to share her artwork, which shows a group of animals – including koalas, kangaroos, echidnas and an emu – and Steve Irwin welcoming them into his embrace.

“Don’t worry little guys! I’ll take care of you,” the words on the print read.

View this post on Instagram

Feel free to share this but please give credit to my page! Why Princess Diana’s wedding dressmaker destroyed the original sketch

It seems incredible to think that it’s been 35 years since the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, an event that could easily lay claim to the title, ‘wedding of the century’.

And while there were many highlights from the grand ceremony, perhaps the most striking was Princess Diana’s gorgeous gown, constructed with an ivory silk taffeta and antique lace, and a massive, 25-foot-long train that we will never forget.

For the first time the designer tasked with the job of creating the gown, David Emanuel, has spoken about his design and why he had to destroy the original sketch.

In an interview with Express, the now 63-year-old Emanuel revealed why he destroyed the original drawing, which by now would surely be worth thousands, “I showed her a sketch and ripped the sketch up because we didn't want it floating around.”

Emanuel reportedly had multiple visits with Diana to design her gown, a process that had to be kept top secret due to the prying, intrusive eyes of the local press.

Emanuel, who is now hosting a show called Say Yes to the Dress, reflected on his most famous design, “I wanted the dress to reflect that but she was going in as Lady Diana Spencer and coming out as the Princess of Wales. St. Paul's Cathedral was very grand. If you did a subtle little number, it's not going to work to an audience of seven hundred billion people!”

Do you remember the wedding of the century? What’s your favourite memory of Princess Di? Let us know in the comments, we'd love to hear from you!

Related links:

Diana’s bodyguard reveals who he blames for the crash

Prince Harry reveals he regrets not speaking about Diana’s death

Photos of Princess Diana in 1991 circulates
