14th century castle now luxury holiday home

Airbnb gives you the opportunity to stay in some amazing locations, but we’re sure you’ll agree this beautifully restored 14th century castle is one of a kind.
An hour from Edinburgh and 15 minutes from St. Andrews, Dairsie Castle is the perfect holiday home for anyone looking to enjoy the royal treatment.
Dairsie Castle has famously been the site of secret Scottish parliaments, military sieges and a safe haven for escapee monarchs (James VI and I in 1583).
The castle became a ruin in the 19th century, but in 1992 it was purchased and rebuilt by the current owner, who has worked diligently to restore the site to its original medieval character, without having to sacrifice the creature comforts of a family home.
And, as you can see in the gallery above, they’ve done an incredible job!
Visitors will enjoy relaxing in huge bedrooms, dining in the spacious grand hall and exploring the top floor where the castle’s artwork and antiques are displayed.
Dairsie Castle sits upon six acres of gorgeous Scottish scenery and features a beautiful, walled herb garden, lush orchard and large open grass area.
There’s also quite a bit to do in the surrounding areas, including an aquarium, Craigtoun Country Park, Wet Sands Beach and St. Andrew’s famous golf courses.
Even if you’re not on your way to Scotland, have a look through the gallery above, because one can always dream! And to find out more about this property, click here.
