Potica cake

With sugar and spice and all things nice, this traditional Slovenian sweet bread cake is sure to delight the entire family.

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons dried yeast
  • ¾ cup milk, warmed
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 2 ⅔ cups plain flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 170g unsalted butter, chopped, at room temperature
  • 3 egg yolks
  • ¼ cup dark rum
  • 2 ¾ cups walnut halves
  • ½ cup brown sugar, lightly packed, extra
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 egg white, lightly whisked
