Patrick Swayze’s widow opens up about her one marriage regret
Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi had one of the most enduring relationships in Hollywood, with the couple celebrating 34 years of happy marriage togehter, until the actor sadly passed away in 2009.
But Lisa says she still has one heartbreaking regret about their marriage.
A few months after Patrick’s untimely death after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer, Lisa gave a talk on grief and shared about her own regrets.
“My regret is that I didn’t tell him that I loved him enough over that entire 34 years,” Lisa said.
She said in an interview with The Times a few months later, “We told each other we loved each other over and over again,” adding, “I never left the room without telling him. It still didn’t feel like enough.”
Although their romance was at idyllic at times, they also their share of difficulties. The couple separated in 2003 for a year as Patrick developed a drinking problem, but after time in rehab the pair reunited.
Reflecting on her marriage to Patrick, Lisa said, “No relationship is perfect, you hang in there and you don’t give up. And of course you are going to have bad times. I would be with Patrick a million times over if I could – warts and all.”
