Derryn Hinch set to make big return to TV

Derryn Hinch will return to our television screens next month after a three-year whirlwind hiatus from the media industry as a federal senator.

The 75-year-old former MP will have his own show called Hinch on Sky News.

In his three-year stint as a federal senator, Hinch was able to help introduce a passport ban for convicted sex offenders in order to stop “sex tourism”, and through hard work and lobbying, he aided in prompting the Coalition to look at developing a public register for sex offenders.

The former politician also helped push to launch a senate inquiry into trans-vaginal mesh implants – which could impact an estimated 15,000 Australian women.

Hinch has proven he doesn’t go down without a fight. Aside from writing his 16th book and hosting his own TV show, the 75-year-old has vowed to contest the 2022 election.

He also has a warning for politicians since being an insider.

“I think I’ll be able to give a bit more of an edge to political interviews,” he said.

“I’ve seen it from the inside. If any of the pollies start to give me any bull****, my bull**** detector is probably better than it was before I went to Canberra.”

Hinch will air on Thursdays at 8 pm AEST from July 4 on Sky News Live and Foxtel channels 103 and 600.
