Viewers stunned after Denise Drysdale booted from I'm a Celeb

<p>The first celebrity has been voted out of this year's <em>I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!</em></p> <p>Aussie TV legend Denis Drysdale became the first shock elimination of the 2024 series after arriving late in the jungle. </p> <p>While fans and campmates were shocked when Robert Irwin announced the star's name, she was more than happy to return to civilisation. </p> <p>“Oh, it was more than what I expected,” she told the show's hosts, Irwin and Julia Morris. </p> <p>When asked if she felt "bittersweet" about being the first celebrity booted out of the show, she admitted: “Can I say not so bitter?! It’s sweet! I’m sorry, I have to be – I have to be completely honest!”</p> <p>“It is s**t in there!” she continued. “It is s**t, it’s unbelievable! The dunnies, the dirt! Now I’m a clean person – there’s dirt upon dirt upon dirt upon dirt.”</p> <p> “But I’m so glad that I’ve done it. I’ve done it and I’m proud of myself. So I must say thank you to the Celebrity people for giving me the opportunity to prove to myself I can go in there and do it," she added. </p> <p>A few fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their shock at the decision. </p> <p>“What on earth?!”  wrote one. </p> <p>“People saved Callum over DENISE??” added another. </p> <p><em>Images: Network Ten</em></p>

Denise Scott, star of Mother and Son, reveals cancer battle

<p>Cherished Australian entertainer, comedian, and author Denise Scott has unveiled her private battle against cancer that has spanned several months.</p> <p>In an intimate conversation with the <a href="https://www.womensweekly.com.au/news/celebrity/denise-scott-cancer/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Australian Women's Weekly</em></a>, Scott, who was honored with an Order of Australia earlier this year, candidly discussed receiving a breast cancer diagnosis just as she was gearing up to commence filming her inaugural leading role in a new television series. This role marked her portrayal of one of the central figures in the revived version of <em>Mother and Son, </em>a show where she is starring alongside comedian Matt Okine.</p> <p>Recounting the moment, Scott shared: "The night I noticed the rash, I thought, 'This is breast cancer'... Then, when the GP said mastitis, there was a momentary sigh of relief. But she also said, 'You've got to have a mammogram as soon as possible.' And then I think I knew."</p> <p>Medical advice informed Scott that she was confronting an aggressive cancer variant necessitating prompt intervention.</p> <p>Scott assumed the character Maggie in the reimagined rendition of <em>Mother and</em> Son, while Okine is taking on the role of her on-screen son, Arthur. These roles had been originally played by Ruth Cracknell and Garry McDonald during the 1980s to much acclaim, and it remains one of the most beloved TV shows of all time.</p> <p>As a result of the shock diagnosis, Scott embarked on chemotherapy and filming simultaneously. For scenes where she didn't need to face the camera directly, a stand-in body double was employed.</p> <p>"This production meant a lot to me," Scott told <em>AWW</em>. "But the doctors were making it clear: 'You have to start chemotherapy within days.' I don't know who first suggested I try to do both, which in hindsight was insane. I think it was me. I was thinking, I don't want to shut this whole production down, and I was also thinking, I want to live!"</p> <p>Okine, the visionary behind the show's revival, collaborated closely with the original creator, Geoffrey Atherden, to actualise the project. "It's great to be laughing again": Denise Drysdale bounces back

<p>Denise Drysdale is back and better than ever as she gave her first interview to <a href="https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/celeb-news/denise-drysdale-secret-brain-surgery-74298" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Woman’s Day </a>since going MIA from the regular spotlight.</p> <p>The popular TV presenter opened up about her health crisis battling Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) and the life-changing brain surgery that followed.</p> <p>Denise, who is 73 now, said in the in-depth interview: "It's great to be laughing again. I haven't really laughed in over a year – my life had become a nightmare of agonising pain and fear."</p> <p>For the past 13 months Drysdale had been living with the immensely painful facial condition. Experiencing her first flare up in May 2021, she described the pain as "unbearable" and "searing", revealing it became so intense she struggled to breathe.</p> <p>"It was like a white-hot lightning bolt that would shoot across my face. The tiniest thing set it off, like smiling, brushing your teeth or hair, or blowing your nose."</p> <p>The agonising episodes became more excruciating and frequent, meaning she suffered around five attacks per day, leaving her struggling to get out of bed in the morning.</p> <p>"I would inch myself up slowly, so as not to trigger it off. There were times I'd burst into tears, fearful of when it would next strike," she says.</p> <p>"Stupidly, I thought it would work itself out. I'm a stoic person and very little rattles me. I was hoping it would just go away, but it didn't."</p> <p>Feeling increasingly anxious she withdrew from life, stopped seeing friends, turned down work and holed herself up at home, dreading the next agonising attack.</p> <p>"It became so debilitating that I bit the bullet – I was referred to a specialist, who diagnosed trigeminal neuralgia.</p> <p>"I thought to myself, this old chook must be working her way through the medical book of horror illnesses. I was beginning to think my next car should be an ambulance."</p> <p>Indeed, in the past four years Denise has endured a knee replacement, a blood clot in the leg, fought a nasty staph infection and suffered from a detached retina.</p> <p>In October 2020 she even fractured a shoulder in a nasty mishap while filming Holey Moley. "For months after the fall, I couldn't put on a bra or take off a T-shirt," she says.</p> <p>But worst of all? "I couldn't remove the cork from a bottle of bubbly!"</p> <p>Following Denise's TN diagnosis, she underwent regular acupuncture therapy, which provided some pain relief but was not a cure.</p> <p>"In September last year I was taken to a Gold Coast hospital by my eldest son Rob, who found me writhing in agony."</p> <p>At times, Denise admits she sunk into a terrible depression. "I feared the crippling pain was going to be my life. That I couldn't go out, couldn't have fun with friends, couldn't smile, couldn't cuddle my grandkids or go to work."</p> <p>Denise kept her painful ordeal quiet for fear of being seen as a hypochondriac.</p> <p>"I seemed to be lurching from one medical horror to the next, and thought people would be sick to death of hearing about my latest malady.</p> <p>"To know my two boys, Rob and Pete, were worried sick upset me," she says, noting that when her eldest grandson Bodhi, 10, remarked, 'Nanny, I wish you weren't in pain,'" she burst into tears.</p> <p>Denise was told by her TN specialist that brain surgery was the best bet in terms of finding lasting relief.</p> <p>"The notion of brain surgery terrified me. But I'd tried everything else, from medication to an array of other treatments. In utter despair I agreed to fly to Sydney to undergo the surgery, which I did in June.</p> <p>"The surgery lasted two-and-a-half hours, and it left me with a small scar at the base of my head near my right ear, which is now healing beautifully. Dr Ben Jonker, my neurosurgeon, must have learned sewing from the nuns.</p> <p>"From the moment the anaesthesia wore off, I felt different and there was no pain. I couldn't believe it.</p> <p>Over a month on still no pain. “What a low act!": Daniel Morcombe's parents outraged at upcoming film

<p dir="ltr">The devastated parents of murdered Queensland boy Daniel Morcombe have blasted an upcoming film about their son’s death. </p> <p dir="ltr">Daniel Morcombe was only 13 years old when he was abducted and murdered on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast in December, 2003.</p> <p dir="ltr">In August 2011, Brett Peter Cowan was arrested and later found guilty of Daniel’s murder.</p> <p dir="ltr">Now parents Denise and Bruce Morcombe have come out attacking the film <em>The Stranger</em>, which tells the story of an undercover detective trying to catch a killer in Australia.</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>The Stranger</em> premiered at Cannes earlier this year and will play at the Melbourne International Film Festival in August.</p> <p dir="ltr">A statement from the Morcombe’s was shared on the Daniel Morcombe Foundation Facebook page calling the film a “low act” and have asked people not to watch it. </p> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"> <p dir="ltr" lang="en">The movie “The Stranger” is not supported by the Morcombe family. The movie is not supported or sanctioned in any way by the Morcombe family,” the statement read.</p> <p dir="ltr">“It’s appalling storyline ignores our family‘s pain and chooses to profit from 13-year-old Daniel Morcombe.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Next year will mark 20 years since we lost Daniel. The passage of time does not make it any easier. Personally, I find the making of this movie morally corrupt and a cruel, callous, selfish cash grab by all involved. Connections of the movie have blood on their hands.” </p> <p dir="ltr">Director Thomas M Wright said he made the film to share a different perspective of the story because he could not “presume” what the family was going through. </p> <p dir="ltr">“One reason I chose not to show the child or family (in The Stranger) was to make a film with a clear moral perspective,” he previously said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I couldn’t presume to know anything of the experience of that family. Denise Drysdale’s son speaks out on painful condition

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After Denise Drysdale was </span><a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/denise-drysdale-rushed-to-hospital"><span style="font-weight: 400;">rushed to hospital</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> with a rare nerve disorder in late September, her son Peter Milne has shared an update on her condition. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Speaking with Denise’s </span><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">Studio 10</span></em><span style="font-weight: 400;"> co-hosts, he revealed that his mother has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Fibromyalgia is a neurological chronic health condition that causes pain and tenderness all over the body, according to </span><a href="https://arthritisaustralia.com.au/types-of-arthritis/fibromyalgia/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Arthritis Australia</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Mum has likened it to a shocking sort of pain right at the back of her eyes, sending electric shocks,” Peter explained. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“It comes in waves, and [had] little triggers like being on the phone, texting, laughing, anything where she needed to use her brain is just sending these terrible debilitating pains.” </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">He explained how debilitating her condition is, saying, “We have been in the car and had to stop the car completely to a standstill and just wait for these waves to come through.”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Peter went on to say that Denise’s pain had “dissipated” after she began undergoing “high intensity acupuncture” several times a week. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">He also said that due to the pain, she has been struggling to eat.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“She managed to have a nice little plate of spaghetti the other day and she would not have eaten for over a week. She was trying to spoon little bits of yoghurt and couldn't swallow.”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Despite her ongoing pain, her son told her co-hosts that she has taken the illness in her stride as best she can. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“She has been amazing. She has still got her sense of humour. But also, before you knew it, you made some really wonderful, lovely friends. And I think that was very valuable as well.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I still speak to Dan and Andrew and Rizaldy every single day since we stopped filming. So we are a very tight unit, we all very much look after each other.</span></p> <p><strong>O60: What surprised you most about your <em>Making It</em> experience?</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I think my strength and my determination, my physical strength of being able to have long days, and think on my feet and keep working and my mental strength because I'm a sculptor and I make work that takes six months to develop and make and put together but here I am on the set with unknown tools unknown face is having to make something in a very short, quick time. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And those challenges are very interesting [in] how you respond to them. And I think I learned a lot about myself as far as that goes.</span></p> <p><strong>O60: During the self-portrait challenge, you shared a vulnerable moment with Susie, Harvey and the judges about depicting your face. Could you tell us more about that moment and the challenges creatives can face depicting themselves in their work?</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I suppose that came to me so unexpectedly but obviously it had been sitting inside of me for a long time. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And I suppose that we live internally, inside of ourselves. We hear ourselves speaking inside our heads, but when we actually hear it for ourselves it sounds different.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And I don't spend a lot of time grooming myself in the mirror, it’s something that I don’t take seriously. And I suppose, I have thrown myself on a national TV program where it's me representing me and doing the self portrait, I knew I was going to have difficulties with it because I was not going to do myself justice by doing my face because it's not a comfortable area for me. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And I suppose once that door was open, then I was pretty tired and pretty emotional and pretty homesick. It came out and there was a very long conversation that wasn’t shown on TV, talking about how I felt with the judges. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And I was very stressed waiting for that episode to come on, because I knew it was coming. And since being on the show, I've had a whole heap of different emotions about the show, because as I've said, I’m from watching me, that was actually me and I don't know myself that well.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But you know what, since that happened and it's been on Facebook, I have had an abundance of people replying, saying, ‘I hear you, I feel the same way. I know what you mean.’ </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So I think I reached out to a demographic of people who feel the same way as me, and I had the opportunity to go there on TV. So maybe there's something really positive about that.</span></p> <p><strong>O60: What’s next for you after <em>Making It</em>?</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I promised myself that this year I'm not going to do a great deal except for this one exhibition because I think I'm going to reassess what I want to do. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Strangely enough, I have no plan and I've never had no plan in my life, ever. It’s a new Denise! It’s really interesting. I don’t know who she is but I'm sure she's gonna be okay.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I’m sure I will probably [get] back into exhibitions, and maybe run some lovely workshops from my beautiful home … [just] intimate small workshops with my glass practice, which is something that I have been kind of talking about because I love people and I love to share my ideas and my experiences, so I think that's a good possibility that's what I'll be doing is running, you know, really intimate personal workshops in my own home space.</span></p> <p><strong>O60: Making It posed challenges that saw you use a whole range of different skills and techniques, has it changed how you have gone about your creative practice since leaving the show?</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Since I left the show, I think I had burnout, and was not able to create until probably the last couple of weeks. I think ... I had no more creativity inside me to create artwork. I focused on my home and I started painting and doing decorative stuff to my home because I think it gave me some sense of comfort because I was back home and I never went into my studio. I don't go into my studio much anymore, but I'm currently making a sculpture at the moment for an exhibition on the beach down here in Perth called </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Castaways</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">, and I think I'm coming back to my normal self only just. So it's been a major adjustment, reconnecting back to my past existence. I came back a different person and I’m trying to find where I am at the moment.</span></p> <p><strong>O60: Last but not least, if you had the chance, would you do it again?</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I don't know. There are days I don't know and days I go, ‘Yes.’ </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I would love to be a judge on a show like that, I think, rather than a maker. I feel that physically it’s really hard on your body. And, and I don't know whether my body would allow me anymore. Mentally I'm fine. Denise Drysdale rushed to hospital

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Veteran TV personality Denise Drysdale has been hospitalised with a rare nerve disorder, according to reports. The 72-year-old was taken to hospital after suffering “unspeakable agony” in her face last week.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Explaining her absence on </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Studio 10 </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">the past few days, entertainment reporter Craig Bennett told viewers what had happened. “You might’ve noticed you haven’t seen somebody on this couch or on this show for a little while. We’re talking Denise Drysdale. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Why you’ve not seen her on the show for a little bit is because of this reason. Last week she was taken to hospital after suffering unspeakable agony that she described to me as a cross between being struck by a lightning bolt and a white hot poker.” He added, “It turns out she’s suffering from a rare nerve disorder that affects the face. Trigeminal neuralgia, it’s called.” </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic pain condition that affects the fifth cranial nerve, and causes extreme, sporadic, sudden burning or shock-like facial pain that can last anywhere from a few seconds to as long as two minutes per episode, according to the </span><a href="https://www.ninds.nih.gov/Disorders/Patient-Caregiver-Education/Fact-Sheets/Trigeminal-Neuralgia-Fact-Sheet"><span style="font-weight: 400;">National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Bennett told viewers he has been speaking to Denise multiple times a day and that she’s on the mend. “I know we all share in wishing our Denise Drysdale the speediest of recoveries. Willy Wonka star reveals Gene Wilder’s “favourite brat”

<p><span>A child star who had the opportunity to work alongside the infamous Gene Wilder has spoken out on the experience, 50 years since its first premier date.</span><br /><br /><em>Charlie and the Chocolate Factory </em><span>hit movie screens 50 years ago on June 30, 1971 and achieved rapid success almost overnight.</span><br /><br /><span>The film went on to become a phenomenon that was registered in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being deemed “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant”.</span><br /><br /><span>The child actors Peter Ostrum, Julie Dawn Cole, Michael Bollner, Paris Themmen and Denise Nickerson – who played Charlie Bucket, Veruca Salt, Augustus Gloop, Mike Teavee and Violet Beauregarde – all came together for a virtual reunion in honour of the film’s anniversary.</span></p> <p><img style="width: 500px; height: 281.25px;" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/7842239/willy-wonka.jpg" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/b9da36eca8c24fbeb170655d6cf92150" /></p> <p><em>Image: Yahoo</em><br /><br /><span>The actors all had the opportunity to co-star together, and even got to explore the imagined Wonka Chocolate Factory.</span><br /><br /><span>The cast recounted such fond memories of exploring the film sets in Bavarian Germany and working with Gene Wilder.</span><br /><br /><span>Themmen admitted that he was indeed a “notorious troublemaker on the set.”</span><br /><br /><span>So much so that even Wilder called him “a handful”.</span><br /><br /><span>“I can corroborate that,” the actor, who played the television-obsessed rascal Mike Teavee, admitted.</span><br /><br /><span>“I was younger than the others. I was 11, they were 13 and was naturally just sort of more high-spirited and rambunctious.”</span></p> <p><img style="width: 500px; height: 281.25px;" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/7842237/willy-wonka-1.jpg" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/a8d501bcedd64f7b97dd573169a7717a" /></p> <p><em>Image: Yahoo</em><br /><br /><span>The now-62-year-old opened up about one brief moment he shared with Wilder, in 1976 during a fundraiser screening for the film <em>Silver Streak</em> at the Avon Theatre in Stamford, Connecticut.</span><br /><br /><span>“I sat at the back of the room and he gave his commentary and then I went up to the front of the room afterwards with my poster in hand,” Themmen relived with a smile.</span><br /><br /><span>“I said, ‘Hi, Gene, how you doing? I’m Paris Themmen, I was Mike Teavee in Willy Wonka.”</span><br /><br /><span>“And he said, ‘Oh you were a brat!’ And I flashed all the way back 50 years, or 40 years at that time, and said, ‘Well, I’m 50-something now and maybe not as much of a brat.’</span><br /><br /><span>And he signed my poster, ‘To my favourite brat.’”</span><br /><br /><span>Wilder died in 2016 at the age of 83 after a long vibrant career.</span><br /><br /><span>Cole, who played Veruca Salt, said: “I think people kind of want us to tell you that he was like Willy Wonka offset, but he wasn’t.</span><br /><br /><span>“He was such a lovely, kind man, very unassuming,” she said.</span><br /><br /><span>“He was just down to earth, not pretentious, he was just a wonderful person to be around and to work with,” said Ostrum, who played Charlie Bucket.</span></p>

Denise Drysdale undergoing surgery after “tumble” on set

<p>Denise Drysdale is undergoing surgery in hospital on Friday after she suffered injuries received on the set of Channel 7’s new show Holey Moley.</p> <p><em>Studio 10</em> entertainment reporter Craig Bennett spoke about the incident, as someone who is a close friend to Drysdale.</p> <p>He says the TV veteran “took a tumble”.</p> <p>“She’s wound up doing herself a terrible damage,” he said.</p> <p>“She’s in hospital now, she’s going to be OK.”</p> <p><em>Studio 10</em> co-host Sarah Harris added that “she will have surgery today so it’s serious”.</p> <p>It is still not clear exactly what role Drysdale has on Channel 7’s <em>Holey Moley</em>, but it is being filmed in Queensland.</p> <p>Eureka Productions spokesperson told<span> </span><a rel="noopener" href="https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/celebrity-life/denise-drysdale-undergoing-surgery-in-hospital-after-tumble/news-story/9ef55435b55a6a39bb38de06bbe86b2d" target="_blank">news.com.au:</a><span> </span>“While filming <em>Holey Moley</em> in Brisbane last night, Denise Drysdale tripped on a putting green and sustained a shoulder injury.</p> <p>“She is resting and receiving treatment. Denise is a national treasure and everyone is wishing her a speedy recovery.”</p> <p>Drysdale herself also gave a statement which said: “Mummy has took a tumble and has broken one of her chicken wings.</p> <p>“The hospital are taking good care of me.”</p> <p><em>Holey Moley</em><span> </span>is set to hit screens next year and will be hosted by Sonia Kruger with Matt Shirvington and US comedian Rob Riggle acting as commentators.</p> <p>Golfing legend Greg Norman will also appear on the show.</p> <p>According to a Channel 7 press release: “<em>Holey Moley</em> sees mini golf lovers from around Australia competing head-to-head on the unparalleled, larger-than-life obstacle mini golf course. They’ll face out-of-this-world putting and physical challenges while they attempt to complete the course and reach the daunting final hole.</p> <p>“Each episode, one winner will take home the ‘Golden Putter’ trophy and coveted <em>Holey Moley</em> plaid jacket. Then, in the Grand Final, the winners from every episode will face off for the chance to take home the $100,000 grand prize.”</p>

Denise Drysdale to rescue Studio 10 from ratings drop

Denise Drysdale tells shocked co-hosts she’s already paid for her funeral

It’s wonderful.”</p> <p>Drysdale also said Rowe came to look after her when she was dealing with her health problems.</p> <p>“I had a detached retina, I had a knee replacement, then I got blood clots in the thing,” Drysdale said. “But Jess came up a couple of times to look after me and she was so attentive and it was really lovely to have.”</p> <p>Rowe said, “For friends it’s about showing up and turning up when people need you because it’s very easy to do that when everything is great and fantastic.</p> <p>“But it’s also about showing up when someone is going through a really hard time and loving them and caring and just being there, come what may.”</p>

Studio 10 panellists choke back tears as co-host announces departure

<p>It was a sad day on the<span> </span><em>Studio 10<span> </span></em>set on Tuesday as the panelists struggled to choke back tears after hearing their beloved co-host would be departing. </p> <p>Network 10 star Denise Scott was holding back tears herself as she announced she would be leaving the morning program’s Sydney panel to take on a part-time role as a Melbourne correspondent for the show. </p> <p>The 64-year-old revealed the decision to leave the panel, which is filmed at Channel 10's studios in Pyrmont in Sydney, was because she wanted to return back to her hometown in Victoria. </p> <p>Halfway through the program on Tuesday, Scott revealed the sad news to her co-hosts and the<span> </span><em>Studio 10</em>audience. </p> <p>“I'm going to take a break from being on the panel and I'm going to do some reporting from Melbourne,” Denise said. </p> <p>However, it wasn’t too long before Sarah Harris, Angela Bishop and Joe Hildebrand bantered with the stand-up comedian. </p> <p>The show’s entertainment reporter Angela joked viewers at home would be seeing Denise in the next season of<span> </span><em>Survivor</em><span> </span>after competing on 2019’s season of <em>Dancing With The Stars</em>. </p> <p>“OK yeah, because I'm really cut out for that show. I'd love some more humiliation in life,” Denise responded. </p> <p>Reflecting on her time, the 64-year-old said: “I had had the most wonderful time sharing [this experience]. I had never done this kind of show before.</p> <p>“At my age to get such an opportunity to work with you wonderful, wonderful people [is delightful].”</p> <p>Denise joined the panel in April 2018 following the shock exits of Jessica Rowe and Ita Buttrose.</p>

Denise Drysdale causes shockwaves with derogatory comment on Studio 10

<p>Denise Drysdale has made a particularly unsavoury comment about one of the world’s most famous singers, calling her a “s**t” on a live broadcast of <em>Studio 10.</em></p> <p>In Thursday morning’s episode of the morning breakfast show, Drysdale made it apparent she wasn’t all that much of a fan of Madonna during a segment hosted by Angela Bishop.</p> <p>The entertainment story on the world-famous celeb didn’t seem to take to the morning co-host who said: “I think she’s a s**t.</p> <p>“There we go, I’ve said it," Drysdale remarked. </p> <p>While the other co-hosts sat there stunned, Drysdale attempted to justify her comment by adding: “There’s things that she’s done over the years when she was younger. Some video tapes, sex, lies and videotapes or something like that, absolutely disgusting.”</p> <p>Although Drysdale says she does not regret making the comments, she admitted she should have said “s****ish” instead.</p> <p>“I don’t care, you can do Instagram, you can put it on your bloody Facebook … I don’t care,” she said.</p> <p>This is not the first time the 70-year-old has received criticism. Last year the<span> </span><em>Studio 10</em><span> </span>host confirmed she had thrown Brussels sprouts at her then work-mate Ita Buttrose while filming a Christmas segment at the Grounds of Alexandria in Sydney.</p> <p>“I was in a jovial mood,” Drysdale explained to the <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.heraldsun.com.au/" target="_blank"><em>Herald Sun</em></a>.</p> <p>“The Christmas party was that night and I could not go, so I had a couple of glasses of champagne ­towards the end of the day and I threw the Brussels sprout and I shouldn’t have.</p> <p>“I rang Ita for Christmas; we talk, we all get along. I did the wrong thing, it was totally my fault, I am sorry it happened,” she said.</p> <p>Former executive producer for the Channel 10 morning breakfast show Rob McKnight opened up about the incident on his podcast, TV Blackbox, where he described Buttrose as a “victim".</p> <p>“There is something about all this that has really upset me,” he said in August last year, according to <a rel="noopener" href="https://tvtonight.com.au/2018/08/ex-producer-refers-to-brussels-sproutgate-as-assault-of-ita-buttrose.html" target="_blank"><em>TV Tonight</em></a>. </p> <p>“I know the Brussels sprouts incident is a joke to everyone.</p> <p>“Ita Buttrose was assaulted at that shoot. It wasn’t a Christmas party, it was a shoot, we were in a professional situation recording a Christmas video clip.</p> <p>“Ita is horrified by this. She is embarrassed by it. She is a victim here and she has become the butt of jokes.”</p>

Denise Drysdale reveals the scariest health battle she has ever faced

<p>Denise Drysdale has been dealing with terrifying health battles since last October and is just now opening up about the difficult journey.</p> <p>The upbeat and outspoken breakfast show presenter can hardly believe she’d be sitting down to talk about her health, she tells Sarah Harris on <em>Studio 10</em>.</p> <p>Last October, Drysdale came face to face with health problems after deciding to take a well deserved break from presenting life while on “the cruise of a lifetime”.</p> <p>Just one week while on the ship, she suffered from a knee injury that was debilitating.</p> <p>She explains the injury came while getting out of bed and unfortunately for the rest of her cruise experience, she was forced to sit in a wheelchair. However, this typically painful injury did not stop there for her – the pain became so intense she was forced to cut her losses and come back to Australia to undergo a knee replacement surgery.</p> <p>Unfortunately, Drysdale revealed blood clots soon formed in her knee as the surgery did not go to plan. On top of that, the presenter was hit with more health problems.</p> <p>She developed headaches and her vision began to get worse.</p> <p>"I woke up in the middle of the night and rang the ambulance which was a big thing for me to do," she said.</p> <p>“The doctor told me that if I had waited another day, I might’ve gone blind.”</p> <p><img style="width: 0px; height: 0px;" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/7823748/denise-drysdale.jpg" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/3ee3eb45088f41d3965110824f4f0420" />Drysdale was diagnosed with a detached retina – a condition where the retina detaches itself from the eyeball.</p> <p>Just when she thought it might be over, a few months into house arrest to get her health on track – she was hit with another scare.</p> <p>“I woke up and found a huge lump in my breast," she explained. Studio 10’s Denise Drysdale spends her 70th birthday in rehab

<p>Denise Drysdale has welcomed her 70<sup>th</sup> birthday by staying out of the public eye this week, as she took a break from her regular gig on the <em>Studio 10</em> panel on Tuesday.</p> <p>But she made sure to ring in as she spoke to her co-hosts via telephone where she revealed that she’s been admitted to rehab following her recent knee replacement.</p> <p>“I’m going to rehab. “She’s chucking it in”: Denise Drysdale responds to claims she has quit Studio 10

<p>New claims have emerged that Denise Drysdale is walking away from the breakfast TV show,<em> Studio 10. </em></p> <p>During a radio segment on <em>The Kyle and Jackie O Show</em>, entertainment journalist Peter Ford revealed that the 69-year-old is “chucking it in”.</p> <p>Denise’s departure follows a recent string of exits on <em>Studio 10</em>, with the recent resignation of Ita Buttrose and Jessica Rowe.</p> <p style="background: white;" class="xxmol-para-with-font"><span style="color: black;">“<span style="letter-spacing: -.1pt;">She's quitting the <em>Studio 10 show</em>. “I’m so sorry I did it”: Denise Drysdale opens up about that brussels sprout incident

<p>Denise Drysdale has opened up about the continuing fallout from that brussels sprout incident last Christmas, where she lobbed a few of greens in the direction of fellow Studio 10 co-host at the time, Ita Buttrose.</p> <p>"We were supposed to tape the Christmas song for Studio 10," Denise says in an exclusive interview with <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong><a href="https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/tv/ita-buttrose-denise-drysdale-brussel-sprout-47918">The Australian Women's Weekly</a></strong></em></span>. "I had to get up at four in the morning to get there because I had to fly down from where I live in Queensland."</p> <p>She adds: "We'd been out at a skating rink to film a segment and then we went to this beautiful pub where they put on a lunch, the full roast turkey and the whole catastrophe.</p> <p>"There we were, singing along with the song – and I had a couple of champagnes. I didn't have to drive. I was in a jovial sort of mood and I threw a brussels sprout at Ita. I lobbed it up and over the table at her and it hit her on the chest."</p> <p>The 69-year-old two-time Gold Logie winner reiterates she meant no disrespect to Ita.</p> <p>"The upshot is that she thought I disrespected her but I didn't and I don't. I am so sorry I did it. If I'd known it was going to cause so much trouble I wouldn't have done it. I just didn't think. But that's me all over. It's nothing that I haven't done before. That's why people like me. They look at me and think, "She's a bit of whacker'. And I am. <p>Departing Studio 10 panellist Ita Buttrose has responded to former co-star<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong> <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/news/news/2018/04/studio-10-feud-denise-drysdale-finally-speaks-out-after-ita-buttrose-farewell/">Denise Drysdale’s comments on radio yesterday</a></strong></span> where she seemingly confirmed rumours of a feud between the pair and that she wouldn’t miss Buttrose from the show.</p> <p>When asked about the feud on Zoe Marshall and John Caldwell on KIIS’s Celeb HQ last night, Buttorse responded: “I don’t really want to talk about brussels sprout-gate, but I will, just once: It was not just one sprout, it was a BOWL full. I didn’t throw any sprouts, I was working.”</p> <p>The 76-year-old media veteran added: “This was our Christmas shoot — I was working. That’s all I want to say about it because it’s a long time ago ... I’m over it. I’m sorry Denise feels like that, but there you go. If it weren’t for me, she wouldn’t have the job at all.”</p> <p>Asked if she found it strange that Drysdale had spoken so candidly about their working relationship just one day after she’d left the show, Buttrose said: “I can’t really comment on Denise’s behaviour and I don’t really want to.
