The Woolies bakery item that has customers raving

Woolworths have revealed how they make the ever so popular finger buns. However - there is one thing some customers wish they had more of.

In a TikTok that has clocked-up half a million views, Woolies staff member Liam Kirley, who runs the supermarket’s page, shared a step-by-step guide of how the store makes its classic iced finger buns – which are priced at $3 for a pack of four.

The whole process takes under an hour, with baking staff mixing the dough first for about five to six minutes, before letting it rest for another 10 minutes.

@woolworths_au Your classic afternoon snack. #Woolies #Woolworths #wooliesgang ♬ original sound - Woolworths_au

“Then it gets moulded,” Liam explained while sharing footage of the process.

“We then let it proof and rise with the self-raising yeast in it.

“The dough then goes into the oven for 20 minutes.”

In the meantime, Woolies bakers prepare the icing which comes in two flavours – either pink with sprinkles or white with coconut.

“The buns come out of the oven, we glaze them and then they cool off,” Liam said.

“And then we ice them – and this bit is satisfying,” he says while showing icing oozing out of a piping bag.

“And that is how we make our famous finger buns at Woolies.”

Liam’s clip has been liked more than 63,000 times and hundreds of viewers have taken to the comments section to express their love for the tasty treat.

“I love your finger buns; I get them every time I go to Woolies!” one shopper wrote.

“The fact that I’m literally eating one then I come across this video,” said another, while a third person added: “Of [course] this comes up after my family ate the whole pack and I didn’t get one.”

“I honestly thought these were just a gift from god,” a fourth person joked.

However, while many continued to rave about the bakery item, others said it lacked one thing. “Mate, love the finger buns – they were my childhood – but they never had enough icing,” one person wrote.

“Needs more icing,” said another, with a third agreeing: “Not enough icing though.”

One shopper suggested they should “put icing around the whole thing but the bottom”.

It is understood that Woolies currently has plans to change its finger bun recipe.

“It’s great to hear excitement around our Woolworths Iced Finger Bun range, which has been a customer favourite since it launched,” a Woolworths spokesperson said.

Images: TikTok

"The muffins arrive frozen and it would’ve been impossible for the cockroach to survive."

“Made to feel like I put it in there,” wrote the disappointed shopper in response. “Think I’ll be going somewhere different to shop.”

Fellow customers were quick to see the humour in the cockroach catastrophe, with some light-hearted comments posted on Facebook.

“The good ole place a roach in the bag trick to become Facebook Famous,” wrote one commentator.

A Woolworths spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia that the supermarket takes food safety very seriously. “We’re aware of the customer's report and are looking into it with our supply partner to understand how this could have happened,” they said in a statement.

“We are sorry to hear about this customer’s experience and have offered a full refund”, the spokesperson added.

The Austrian bakery being run by grandmas

For centuries, coffee houses have shaped Vienna’s culture. The institution has continued to give the Austrian capital a singular characteristic that can be found nowhere else.

And among the many remarkable cafés in the city, the charmingly retro Vollpension has emerged as one of the most popular.

Vollpension, German for “full pension”is not a regular coffee shop – the staff mainly consist of grandmothers and grandfathers, who are in charge of baking cakes, serving the customers and sometimes sharing the history of the various delicacies from behind the counter.

The ambience is also reminiscent of a grandmother’s home – framed old family pictures covered the walls, complemented by vintage furniture, tiny vases and animal figurines around the room.

“This is more than just a coffee shop,” 31-year-old Hannah Lux, the managing partner of the café and one of its three owners, told CNN. “I come from the countryside and was raised by my grandparents. Older people are very precious to me. French baker to sell business to homeless man for $1.50

A French baker has decided to sell his business to the homeless man who saved his life, only asking for a single Euro for the Parisian boulangerie he built.

But the baker Michel Flamant, 62, has a good reason to offer his business at such a bargain. Just last year Mr Flamant was working when disaster almost struck.

When one of the pastry ovens started leaking carbon monoxide Mr Flamant was in trouble, dazed and staggering around the bakery.

Jerome Aucant, the 37-year-old homeless man who regularly stopped by the bakery, was walking past and quickly noticed something was amiss. When he saw Mr Flamant staggering around he immediately contacted emergency services.

"If Jerome wasn’t around that day I would have been a goner," Mr Flamant told said.

Mr Flamant spent the next 12 days in hospital, before returning to health.

Mr Flamant offered Mr Aucant a job at the bakery, and Mr Aucant has impressed the bakery owner so much with his application he taught him the baking business.

Now, with retirement just around the corner, Mr Flamant has offered Mr Aucant his business for just one euro ($1.50).

"What's more important, money or life? I don't care about money. I'm not rich but I don't care. I want to be free, I want to take it easy now. And also, if this makes him happy..." Mr Flamant said.

And Mr Aucant is very grateful for the offer, "I have to be 100 percent on the job/ Michel has given me a real gift, and now... I want to be worthy of it."

To see the pair at work, scroll through the gallery above.

Related links:

102-year-old skier retires from the slopes

78-year-old grandmother lifts weights like a pro athlete

Grandpa celebrates 92nd birthday by jumping out of a plane
