Women’s “utterly gross” find inside Freddo Frog

A video that will leave your stomach churning has shown what crawled out of a Cadbury chocolate and its packaging.

A woman who purchased a Freddo Frog from Sydney’s Bondi Beach Woolworths a few weeks ago, says it left her feeling disgusted.

The pack was still within its 2022 expiry date, however the mum of the woman who purchased the Freddo frog says a live maggot could be soon worming its way throughout the wrapper.

There was another across the piece of chocolate.

She claimed Cadbury had offered her $25 as compensation "for eating maggots".

"That is bloody gross and I would be traumatised," one person said in an angry comment.

"Disgusting — thanks for sharing. $25 is not enough, I agree. Lucky you noticed before opening and eating and getting sick — completely and utterly gross," another took to the comments to write.

Other people felt the woman was being overly dramatic, however and argued that $25 was more than fair compensation.

"Get over it. Bad shit happens, there's children starving in Africa, and kids with cancer. Put it in the bin and get over it," one person responded.

A Cadbury spokesperson said the incident was likely caused by a breed of moth entering the chocolate while being stored.

“We’re sorry to hear about their experience. Our dedicated teams work hard to ensure our products are in the best possible condition when they’re enjoyed by our consumers," they told Yahoo News Australia.

“Based on the pictures, it looks like Warehouse or Indian Meal Moths have entered the product in storage. These bugs are common around the world and can gain access to a range of different food products including dried fruit, nuts, pasta, and bread without visibly damaging the packaging.

“We put in place a range of measures at our distribution centres to minimise the risk of these common bugs entering our packaging, and work closely with stores and transport companies to help them maintain an environment that minimises the risk. However, on this occasion, it looks like the product has been affected in transit or storage.”

NSW woman finds live maggots in Aldi chocolate cake

A NSW woman has been left with a terrifying surprise inside her luxury Aldi chocolate cake, which has left her vowing to never return to the supermarket chain again.

On Saturday, the woman opened her Luxury Christmas Chocolate Sponge Pudding which was given to her as a gift before Christmas and discovered two maggots squirming on the surface of the cake.

“I was horrified - it was my son who found it and he said 'oh my god mum, I think that's a maggot',” she told Yahoo7 News.

"I said 'no it can’t be' but it then it moved... you can see the maggot is very alive, I don't understand how it got in there as we had to cut the plastic seal off.”

Her friend had purchased the dessert from Aldi’s Port Macquarie store.

The woman claimed the maggots were sealed inside the cake’s wrapping, which she had difficulty peeling off when trying to open the dessert.

However, the woman has been criticised for complaining about the maggots as the dessert’s best before date expired on February 9.

"It's only a best before date not a use by date. I expected maybe to find mould but certainly not maggots," she said.

Now, the woman has vowed to never return to Aldi again despite this being her first problem with the store.

“I won’t be buying anything from there again,” she said.

She later posted on social media, “I have never had a problem with any Aldi products before and I don't want anything off them. I contacted the news so other people would be aware and be on the lookout.”

An Aldi spokesperson told Yahoo7 that the company take any cases of food contamination very seriously and haven’t had any prior complaints regarding the product before.

"ALDI thoroughly investigates all claims relating to substandard food quality or the alleged presence of larvae in our product.

"We will do so with this matter and report back to the customer. From the thousands of Luxury Christmas Chocolate Sponge Pudding sold, we have no other recorded concerns.

"If the allegations are found to be true, this obviously does not meet the high standards of quality we hold ourselves to. We welcome direct contact from this customer so that the matter can be investigated."

Do you think the woman has a right to complain? Let us know in the comments below.

Perth woman finds maggots in popular Aldi product

A Perth woman has made an unsightly discovery, finding maggots in the packaging of a popular brand of dark chocolate purchased from discount supermarket Aldi.

Mary, who reportedly did not wish to reveal her surname, had purchased the dark chocolate from Aldi’s Joondalup store on Saturday as a little treat.

“I was cutting away until I saw a white thing moving against the dark chocolate, and yep it was a live maggot,” she said.

“I only saw it as it was against the dark chocolate. If it was white chocolate (it) would have been a different story.”

As Mary opened the rest of the packet, she saw it was covered in “webbing”.

“I called Aldi on the Monday… since I kept the product and had my receipt, I was asked to go back into a store and get a refund.”

Aldi has responded to the incident, arguing that the larva in the chocolate was not a maggot, but an Indian Meal Moth.

“Our investigation has confirmed that this is an isolated incident,” Aldi said in a statement.

“We have been in touch with the customer and as with all products, if the customer has an issue, we will offer a full refund.”

What are your thoughts?

Melbourne man finds something crawling in his KFC

A Melbourne man has found something disgusting crawling in his KFC, after buying a box of chicken from the fast food restaurant for a baby shower on Saturday.

The customer was disgusted when, after everyone had finished their meals at the party, one of the children noticed maggots crawling on his piece of chicken.

“It was the last piece of chicken,” the 34-year-old said.

“Everyone was disgusted because we'd all eaten from the same chicken. We were all worried too.”

The man is reportedly a frequent visitor to his local KFC, and said he hopes the company will do more to look into “maintaining quality” at their outlets.

KFC responded to the video in a statement to Daily Mail Australia.

“We are dismayed to see the footage but it's unlikely this situation happened in-store. KFC works closely with leading Australian forensic entomologists to understand flies to ensure our in-store cooking and food handling practices are robust so we can keep our food safe,” they said.

“Their latest studies show that flies only deposit eggs in food with temperatures between 10 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius. We hold our raw chicken below these temperatures and our cooked chicken well above so again, it's unlikely this situation happened in-store. We are trying to make contact with the customer so that we can investigate further.”

One things for sure, maggots certainly weren’t in the Colonel’s original recipe. Have you ever had a disgusting encounter with fast food in Australia?

NSW woman finds something in her Nando's meal that will make you sick to the stomach

A NSW woman had the exact opposite of a ‘Happy Meal’ this week, when she was served maggot-infested chicken at a Nando’s outlet in Newcastle.

Emy Wamboi was halfway through her meal at Nando’s Kotara in NSW, which she had been enjoying with her son, when she noticed something on the surface of the bird.

"My son was very hungry," Emy told ABC News.

"He is seven years old so he was like, 'Oh, let me have that chicken'. So I just looked at the chicken and I saw some maggots running around."

Emy took a video of the meal, which you can see below, and returned the food for a full refund, but has not been able to face the prospect of eating chicken again.

People should be careful on what they eat. We went to Nando's kotara and got served chicken with maggots
Posted by Emy Wamboi on Tuesday, 3 October 2017

Nando’s also released a statement:

"Nando's has done a thorough investigation of this issue and found the Kotara restaurant has followed all the correct cooking and hygiene procedures," a spokeswoman said.

"Our chicken is made to order and a fly or maggots could not have survived the cooking process, which includes placing the chicken on a grill with an operating surface temperature of over 350 degrees (Celsius).

"As the restaurant is open to the environment, and the maggots were found on the skin of the chicken, we believe this incident is the result of an airborne fly landing on the chicken in the short period of time between when it was plated and subsequently discovered by the customer at her table."

What are your thoughts?
