Aldi launches fancy new range beloved by Adele and the Beckhams

ALDI Australia is about to introduce a fancy homewares range that has the Beckhams and Adele collectively nodding in approval.

Yes, you heard it right – ALDI, the place where you normally hunt for discounted Vegemite and budget-friendly meats – is stepping into the world of high-end homewares. Prepare your wallets and your finest monocles, because the supermarket chain has joined forces with the UK's luxury juggernaut, Liberty, to create a line of exclusive designer goodies. Christmas just got a whole lot bougier!

Set to hit shelves on November 29, this collaboration promises to bring a touch of sophistication to your life – without forcing you to auction off your grandmother's vintage tea set to afford it. The range includes 12 new products, each bearing Liberty's iconic print designs. And with prices starting at a jaw-dropping $2.99, you might need a moment to let that sink in. We'll wait.

Belinda Grice, ALDI Australia’s buying director of Special Buys, expressed her excitement, saying, "It’s so exciting to bring an extra touch of luxury to our customers. A high-quality product at an affordable price is what we do best, so this collaboration with Liberty is a match made in heaven."

It's basically like finding a caviar-flavoured chip in your bag of mixed nuts.

The range includes everything from candles to notebooks, diaries, hand creams, teapots, diffusers, soap bars and probably a golden unicorn or two. It's a cornucopia of poshness. We imagine this is the sort of stuff the Queen used to take notes during her royal corgi tea parties.

For British expats Down Under, this is the homecoming they never knew they needed. It's a bit like getting a surprise visit from King Charles himself, only instead of royal decrees, he bears scented candles and aesthetically pleasing teapots.

But wait, there's more! ALDI is not just here to elevate your home decor game; it's also here to sprinkle some goodness in the world. Ten percent of Liberty’s proceeds from the collection will go to support Camp Quality, an organisation on a mission to bring joy, fun and laughter back into the lives of kids facing cancer. So not only can you deck out your living room like a Buckingham Palace waiting room, but you can also feel good about it. It's a win-win situation, or as the posh say, a "triumphantly exquisite dichotomy".

As we gear up for the holiday season, let's raise a teacup to ALDI for making luxury accessible to all. Who needs a silver spoon when you can have a $2.99 Liberty teapot? Just remember, the next time someone questions your taste, you can proudly declare, "It's ALDI x Liberty, darling. Look it up."

Images: Getty / ALDI

Why a familiar face made Adele break down on stage

Adele has broken down during an emotional show in Las Vegas, after she locked eyes with a special audience member.

The British songstress was performing at her residency show with a special Halloween show when she spotted a familiar face in the crowd.

While dressed as Morticia from the Addams Family for the spooky-themed concert, Adele began to perform her hit song When We Were Young from her award-winning album 25.

She suddenly burst into tears and ran into the audience, as she spotted the doctor who delivered her son Angelo ten years ago.

Adele could be seen mouthing “Shut up!” in between lines of the heartbreaking ballad, as she couldn't believe what she was seeing.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by 𝒜𝒹𝑒𝓁𝑒 𝐿𝒶𝓊𝓇𝒾𝑒 𝐵𝓁𝓊𝑒 𝒜𝒹𝓀𝒾𝓃𝓈 (@thirtyfreeadele)

“Oh my god, Colin! Adele called herself a ‘borderline alcoholic’. But is that a real thing?

Nicole Lee, Curtin University

British singer-songwriter Adele says she has quit drinking, describing herself as a “borderline alcoholic” when she was in her 20s.

She joins a growing number of people who are trying to quit or reduce their drinking.

But what does “borderline alcoholic” mean and is it a real thing?

It’s not all-or-nothing any more

In the early days of alcohol treatment, people used to think of problems with alcohol as all-or-nothing. They used to believe there was something different about people who had problems with alcohol and those who didn’t. That’s how the idea of the “addictive personality” came about.

But now we think of drinking on a continuum. It goes from not drinking at all to dependent drinking. And people can move up and down that continuum at different points in their lives. The old saying “once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic” doesn’t apply any more.

How much is it OK to drink?

The Australian national alcohol guidelines say healthy men and women should drink no more than ten standard drinks a week and no more than four a day. So that’s about two to three drinks three to four times a week. Most Australians drink within these guidelines.

If you drink over those guidelines you are more likely to experience a number of long- and short-term problems including alcohol dependence, cancers, diabetes and heart disease. The risk of problems increases the more you drink and the more frequently you drink.

About 25% of Australians drink at risky levels and around 6% drink at such high levels that they would probably be dependent. Daily drinking is associated with dependence.

So when is someone an alcoholic or a borderline alcoholic?

The term “alcoholic” is rarely used by health professionals any more. It can make people believe there is nothing they can do about the problems they might be experiencing. Historically, that’s what the early treatment providers believed in the 1930s and that myth has continued. But some people find identifying as an “alcoholic” helpful to maintain their goal of quitting drinking.

Health professionals have never used the term “borderline alcoholic”. But in describing herself that way Adele is really saying alcohol is having too much of a negative impact on her life, and like many others has decided to do something positive about it by taking a break.

Which terms do we use now?

Now, we tend to talk about “dependence” on a continuum from mild to moderate to severe. We also talk about the range of problems other than dependence that people can experience, which also lie on a continuum.

The threshold for whether someone is a problem or dependent drinker is not just how much they drink (although that is important), but also how severe the alcohol-related problems are.

Problems with alcohol don’t always correlate with consumption. Some people can drink a moderate amount and have a lot of problems and others can drink a lot and appear not to have many negative consequences.

I’m worried about my drinking. What next?

If you are wondering if you are drinking too much you can check online with a free and anonymous assessment.

Signs you may have a problem with alcohol include:

having trouble stopping once you start drinking

wanting or trying to cut back but slipping up frequently

spending a lot of time drinking or recovering from drinking

having cravings to drink alcohol, such as if you come home from work and reach straight for a drink

dropping the ball at work, study or home because you’ve been drinking, such as not being able to do your work because you’re hungover

continuing to drink alcohol even though you know it’s causing problems with your health, friends, work or relationships

giving up or reducing social and work activities to drink instead

drinking when it’s not safe, such as before driving or swimming.

If you find you aren’t getting the same effects from alcohol as you used to or you need more and more alcohol to get the same effect, you have probably developed a dependence.

Sometimes people who are very dependent can experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop – strong cravings, nausea, sweating, agitation and anxiety.

The more of these signs you have, the more likely you are to be dependent on alcohol.

If you have any of these signs, taking a break from alcohol for a few months or longer can help. If you find that’s too hard, you can try sticking within the Australian alcohol guidelines by reducing the number of drinks per occasion and increasing your drink-free days.

There’s help

Sometimes when people experience some of these problems they need a bit of help to keep them on track. You can talk to your GP who can refer you to a psychologist or treatment service. Or you can try self-help options such as the Hello Sunday Morning’s Daybreak app (a community of people supporting each other to change their relationship with alcohol). If your problems are more severe, you can try something like SMART Recovery (evidence-based group support for alcohol and other drug problems).

If you are worried about your own or someone else’s alcohol or other drug use, you can contact the National Alcohol and other Drug Hotline on 1800 250 015 for free, confidential advice.<!-- Below is The Conversation's page counter tag. "You're crazy": Adele accidentally confirms long-running rumour

Adele has reignited a long-standing rumour about her relationship status during her concert in Las Vegas.

During her residency show on Saturday night, one excited concertgoer jokingly proposed to the iconic singer, with the moment being captured on video by another fan.

Adele, 35, replied to the fan's tongue-in-cheek proposal by saying, "You can't marry me. I'm straight, my love, and my husband's here tonight," referring to her partner of two years, NBA agent Rich Paul, 41.

The female fan asked Adele if she'd be willing to "try", to which the singer quipped, "No, I don't want to try! I'm with Rich... you're crazy, leave me alone."

The clip of the moment was then posted to TikTok, as fans flocked to the comments to speculate if she was joking about her relationship status, or if she had married her partner in secret.

Since the pair first started dating in July 2021, they have attracted a slew of marriage rumours.

She last addressed the rumours in 2022 in a candid chat with Elle magazine, in which she said "I'm not married. I'm not married!...I'm just in loooove! I'm happy as I'll ever be."

The couple first met at a mutual friend's birthday party and immediately hit it off.

"I was a bit drunk," Adele revealed in a 2021 interview with Vogue. "I said, 'Do you want to sign me? I'm an athlete now.'"

"He was dancing. All the other guys were just sitting around. He was just dancing away," the singer added.

"We did it!" Mystery behind Fifi Box's wedding dress unveiled

Fifi Box has been spotted in a wedding dress and veil while holding a bouquet in Las Vegas, leaving many to believe she has tied the knot.

While on a work trip, the radio host and her co-host Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody went to see Adele perform at her resident show in Vegas.

In order to get Adele’s attention, Fifi dressed in wedding attire and made a sign, despite having no intention of getting married.

Explaining the stunt on their radio show on Monday morning, Fifi explained, “We went to Adele last night, Fev and I did have to try and get her attention. So that was the mission, can Adele speak to us.”

“We know that halfway through the show she walks through the crowd and chats to people, and what we had noticed in a lot of news stories was that it’s people who had signs or had just gotten married.”

Last week, the radio team had put a call out to their listeners to ask for suggestions on how they should get Adele’s attention at the show, with one person suggesting they dress up and act as newlyweds.

“So I wore the wedding dress and the veil, I had a bouquet and we had a sign that said ‘I walked down the aisle to your song today’.”

Fifi then played a clip of the show in which you can hear Adele target the faux newlyweds and say “Congratulations!” while performing one of her hit songs.

“We went to great lengths, but I'm going to point this out,” Fifi said.

“Our mission was to get Adele to speak to us, and she looked me in the eye and said ‘congratulations’. We did it! Pretty cool to get a call out from Adele.”

Stallone sells home to Adele then buys THIS

Maybe you heard that Sylvester Stallone has up and sold his custom Beverly Hills 90210 mansion. The lucky buyer on this occasion was none other than soul diva Adele – who only paid a humble $58 million for the abode residing in the ultra-exclusive guard-gated Beverly Park community.

While Stallone and his wife Jennifer now call Florida home (with a $35 million pad out in Palm Beach), the power couple are keeping one foot on Californian soil with a recent purchase.

They’ve “downsized” on the down-low to an estate in nearby Hidden Hills. This happens to be another guard-gated community near Los Angeles, in an area well known for its many famous residents – including musicians, pro athletes and nearly all of the Kardashians.

Stallone paid about $18.2 million for the residence, meaning he got himself a new home and still managed to pocket roughly $40 million from the Beverley Park sale.

The house is set at the end of a discreet Hidden Hills cul-de-sac, the gated estate spans more than two acres and is a true compound, with a mansion-sized main house, a guesthouse, pool house and separate horse barn.

All up, the various structures include more than 10,000 square feet of living space, and the fully landscaped property also includes a greenhouse, vegetable garden, 100 fruit-bearing citrus and avocado trees, a koi pond and a horse arena for riding.

Built new in 2015, the property was sold the following year for $7.8 million to Margie Keyes, the Australian-born ex-wife of Keyes Auto Group owner Howard Keyes.

Shortly after her purchase, Keyes engaged the services of noted interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard who is best known for his work with celebrity clients like the Kardashians and the Osbourne family - for a very custom make over.

As you can see in the gallery below, the results of those renovations are stunning and highly luxurious.

Images: Dirt Real Estate

Sunrise presenter issues tearful apology to Adele

If I’m being honest with you, the bulk of this abuse I deserve and totally own. I flew to London to interview Adele – an unspeakable privilege that was meant to be one of the highlights of my career.”

He went on to explain that he made the “terrible mistake of assuming” that Adele’s album 30 would not be supplied to him prior to the interview, as it was being conducted prior to the album's global release.

“The day after we landed in London, an email came through from Sony which didn’t mention Adele but contained a link to her album,” he said.

“The genuine, dead-set, hand-on-heart truth is that I missed it. By an absurdly long margin, the most important email I’ve ever missed in my life.”

“At least half the interview was focused squarely on the new music,” he said.

“I thought it was reductive to describe it as simply about divorce, that it was about empowerment, and would inspire people to summon the courage to steer their lives in a new direction.

“We spoke of the paradox that is being the world’s most famous artist - but hating fame.

“Throughout the 29 minutes, Adele was profound, she was funny, she was raw and then she was honest. Honest enough to describe her depression as ‘end-of-the-world stuff’.

The Weekend Sunrise presenter admitted to insulting Adele by missing the link to listen to the new album.

“But by missing the album link, however I might try to justify it, I’ve insulted Adele,” he said.

“To Adele I say: I’d never have knowingly disrespected you by deliberately not listening to your work.

“I’m so sorry.

“I also apologise to Adele’s Australian fans - who through my error have been denied this interview and the insight into her character.”

Doran pointed to the lyrics of the tenth track, Hold On: “Sometimes forgiveness is easiest in secret.”

“I’m not expecting that forgiveness,” he said.

“But I do owe you an apology.”

Weekend Sunrise host speaks out after Adele interview fiasco

Weekend Sunrise host Matt Doran has spoken out for the first time since news broke over the weekend of his alleged suspension following a huge misstep during his interview with Adele earlier this month, with outlets claiming the star walked out of the interview.

The Sunday Telegraph claimed that Doran was suspended for two weeks by Channel 7 after admitting during what was supposed to be the only Australian TV interview with Adele that he had not listened to her latest album, 30.

However, on Sunday night, Doran told The Australian that he was never formally suspended, despite disappearing from the air for one weekend.

The host flew to London on November 4 for the exclusive interview with Adele prior to the release of her highly-anticipated album, arranged as part of a $1 million deal between Sony and Channel 7 that included broadcast rights to Adele’s One Night Only special.

Sources have said that during the lengthy half-hour interview with the star, compared to the limited amount of time usually allotted for interviews, Doran didn’t ask any questions about her album, the first she’s released in six years and the first released since her divorce.

Adele quickly cottoned on, asking the reporter what he thought of her album, which is when he revealed he hadn’t listened to it. Speaking to The Australian, Doran said that he is “mortified and unequivocally apologetic”. He said that he had been sent a digital version of the album but missed it while flying to London, calling it the “most important email I have ever missed”. Doran said, “When I sat down to interview Adele, I was totally unaware that I’d been emailed a preview of her unreleased album.

“I have since discovered it was sent to me as an ‘e card’ link, which I somehow missed upon landing in London. It was an oversight but NOT a deliberate snub. This is the most important email I have ever missed.”

While some reports claim Adele walked out of the interview after the reveal, Doran said it was the “polar opposite”. Doran clarified, “What was meant to be 20 minutes was extended to 29 minutes. The majority of the chat was about the album.” Although the interview was recorded, Sony has reportedly denied Channel 7 rights to air any portion of it.

Meanwhile, Doran has been copping it online from fellow journalists and comedians alike since the story broke on Sunday, with people like Marc Fennell, Rosie Waterland, and Peter Helliar weighing in.

Re: Adele/Ch7. The real reason for Adele's weight-loss journey

Images: Instagram

Adele opens up about her weight loss journey in an intimate interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In the Adele: One Night Only TV special which aired last night in the U.S, the British singer discussed her 100-pound (45kg) weight loss with the talk-show queen, saying it was “never” about “becoming skinny” but feeling stronger after her divorce from Simon Konecki.

“Once I realised that I had a lot of work to do on myself, I stopped drinking and I started working out a lot….to keep me sort of centred,” she recalled in the interview.

Adele revealed she suffered from “terrifying anxiety attacks” that “paralysed” her completely when her two-year marriage ended in 2019.

The couple, who had been together since 2011 and shared son Angelo, nine, finalised their divorce in January this year. Soon after they split, Adele relied heavily on working with a trainer in the gym to ease her anxiety.

“It became my me time,” she said. “Me having a plan every day….having these sorts of pins in my day, helped me keep myself together.”

Adele stressed that she “wasn’t bothered about [weight] at all” and her work at the gym simply “contributed to getting [her] mind right”. Because of this, she was able to push aside criticism that came with her recent weight loss.

“I’m not susprised or disturbed by any of the [weight comments] because my body has been objectified throughout my career,” she said, “But it’s not my job to make people feel validated by their bodies.”

Elsewhere in the Oprah interview, Adele admitted it was hard coming to terms with being a single parent.

"It's a process. You know, the process of a divorce, the process of being a single parent," she said. "The process of not seeing your child every single day wasn't really a plan that I had when I became a mum. The process of arriving for yourself every day, turning up for yourself every single day and still running a home, running a business.

"So many people know what I'm talking about and I feel like that as well. I juggle those things as well. I felt like not doing it anymore. And also trying to move forward with intention, not just trying to get out of it for no reason. It made my feet hurt, walking through all that concrete.”
